Recommended Posts

As so many know and the B&M and update speculation treads are starting to fill up about thoughts and discussion I´m starting this tread for to easier search the forum and something to easier to find in the future!

Next up is the August 3rd investor call. I expect something from R* before that.

Still interesting that one Twitch Prime reward ends July 21st while all the others end November 30th.

All who remember the last investor call they (T2/R*) said we are getting to more updates.

Please help this this tread out and post links and discuss the topic!

Can't help it, but I fail to see how playing as clowns will help when all R* want is players playing. Surely a 'down control pads' moment would do more.

Just imagine someone new buys gold to buy a clown mask too to join in on a current fad/trend, as ridiculous as that sounds, but kids do that sort of thing without understanding why all the time. That can only help R* confirm their way works as players contribute to the financial success.

My 2 cents. But if this does help, good, and I'd be happy to be wrong on this of course.

If the players were doing it without all these publications writing about it I would agree with you but R* hates bad press on their game. An example would be the second all these publications mentioned the KKK hackers R* removed them from the game, so hopefully this forces R* to act as well.

Whether his opinion is right or wrong remains to be seen, but this movement is already underway, so we might as well support it and see if it works.

There is a link on the page below the video on suggested methods of making a clown outfit.

Unfortunately (or not, considering they do cost gold?) the masks are no longer available for purchase any more.

Yeah, I mentioned just now in the DLC thread how the outside press hammered R* for the in-game economy and that likely saw the changes there. So this could work and that would be good.

But equally, seeing the IGN one said to be suggesting players buy GTA on next gen to continue the protests in the DLC spec thread just now too, I'm still not fully sure these websites are doing more than what's needed for views and to be current is all.

Time will tell of course, and I can only hope for the best. But I do feel if anything, R* will drop a bit of info to cool bad press and then go back to being typical R* and all will be forgiven.

Watch as those come available again Tuesday, lol.

R* did give out free green/blue alien suits during that craze, but as these cost gold, probably just a lil' discount. 🤣🤡

There were two reasons I didn't buy any when they were made available recently:

1) they cost gold

2) I just couldn't ever see me using them

Can't say I regret that decision.

Notice, however, that the protest is merely talking of lack of content, not bug fixes or the level of cheating in the game.

While I get the humor of it all and actually think it's pretty funny, the fact that clown masks were ever introduced to this game is part of problem and keeps my expectations low in hoping for a good gritty western themed online experience.

I've protested by putting down the controller.  3 accounts(all mine) that no longer log in along with the 4 other people who I regularly played with.  They don't care what players do in game, they just want to see the log in #'s so they can tell the shareholders that the game is doing great.

2020 is honestly quiet the year.. it's just disordered and so many decisions wont work.

we don't know what rockstar's going through you know.. you can literally think of many problems that they may be facing right now..

an update will arrive, sooner or later.. they didn't creat all these mechanics, music, roles, items.. etc to just leave it there..

things will be to better..

Pretty much this

The whole concept of RDO just shows they havent had an idea in first place, leaving all the potential and depth of the existing Ingame World unexploited.

No one wants them to rush an update or put their employees in harms way, we just want communication! If there isn’t an update planned until December because of the pandemic we are okay with that, as long as they communicate it with us, it’s their silence That has lead to this. If they can put out a terrible news wire post every Tuesday, they can communicate with their player base about the state of the game!

im 100% sure you’re right. 🙂  thing is they promised a bunch of stakeholders they’d deliver, and if they couldn’t deliver, they were obligated to inform.  It’s July.  They told their investors in December they had a robust roadmap for this year, and needed more investor bucks to make more money.  It’s July, and because they didn’t deliver or explain problems (in fact they made a statement to the opposite) makes them pretty vulnerable.

lol@anyone being so naive to think that these articles will make them push out the dlc earlier. If they planned on releasing it within the next weeks, they‘ll stick to it. If not, they won‘t just because of that.

They got Covid as an excuse that they will most certainly use in that investor meeting!

For us, nothing!

I love how the subreddit for Red Dead Online has changed to from disappointed cowboys to clowns now.

I wasn't going to be part of the clown movement, but I guess I have to dress up and do my part now. Even if I don't play all that much anymore.

Actually this clown thing is getting more serious and more interesting than it should.

Saw posts and news related to this in almost all main gaming sites, saw some fellas in RDR-O today with clown themed outfits.

I remember that sad mask protest of in-game content creators in GTA-O because of the lack of updates of the creator thing and how they ... messed up with the placement and tools years ago.

last year we had ... the whole protest thing with China/Hong Kong extending to GTA-O.

I Agree with some fellas ... if R* is planning to launch a DLC/update in some weeks or even a month, i doubt they will show something because of this. (the whole QABeta branches are having updates, can be something but better to keep our hopes down).

People can always remember how they are a company which lacks communication with the overall GTA-RDR community from pretty much early X360/PS3 era, as example ... even with bugs/protests/bad optimized games .... Ubisoft have a way better communication team.

I like the protest thing, because it shows how a community is really upset and pissed with the game, the point is ... some protests actually worked with other companies such as Ubisoft with the whole TC:GR:Breakpoint backlash, and the TC:TD2 thing. (of course they lost a lot of money, but nowadays they are trying to move along), Activision-Blizzard with COD:MW season pass (even if they actually put and uses the whole battle pass/skin system, which was a later BR thing). Those companies recently at least communicated with their community and were fast to solve a possible big external problem which would likely to make them to lose profits. (outside internal problems).

However ... each of R* announcements are enough to put any of their games on the top spot for a day or week. (even with our own protests, rants or critics). So they have a table, chair, table cloth, knife, plate, cheese, fork ... damn ... it is everything in their goddamn hands. (it's always the same thing).

Quick reminder that Rockstar took almost 1-to-2 weeks to remove the whole KKK spawns in RDR-O, the hackers are roaming around in PC, PS4/XB1 console versions (even with a better general experience) have enough random bugs/glitches and disconnects to leave anyone which wants to have a good time in the game pissed.

So .. i don't know how effective this can be.

I understand. But why do you think R* would change it‘s PR strategies all of a sudden just because of some completely irrelevant articles?

Sentinel Driver

What has R* achieved this year?

- Announce that a game from 2013 is being released for a third time now

- Don't release or even announce any content for either of their main games

- Don't even dare to communicate with the player base, instead keep giving them weekly discounts like "50% off of all hats!!"

You do realise that this is a pointless endeavour right? Its all just free publicity and magazine space for R* right?

Took the words right out of my mouth. Whole thing is pointless and won’t do anything.

I am not saying dont do it, its funny and it is raising awareness but to R* its just free publicity and magazine/article space. They have PCGamer and  and IGN making articles about it for free, read by millions of people.

And share holders and investors maybe starts to ask questions.....

Why would they be asking questions when the game is getting free publicity? The money they are investing in the company is not getting spent on magazine/article space.

Just because we are not kept informed do you really think the investors/higher ups are not kept informed?
