Planning on a full 100% playthrough

I haven't played the GTA 5 story mode for many years, so I thought it's about time to go through it once more. I'm planning to play every possible mission, side quest, etc, including the ones which aren't required for the game's own 100% checklist.

I'm recalling from my last time that there was some sort of side mission (possibly a Random event or a Strangers&Freaks mission) that could only be triggered while on a certain stage of the game's storyline, and if you didn't do it then, you missed it for good. I did a quick googling about this but didn't manage to find anything related. Do you guys remember if I'm right about this? I sure as hell don't want to miss it again...

There's things you can miss, but none of the things you can miss count towards 100%. You only have to do a certain number of the Random Events to fulfill the Random Events 100% requirement (something like a third of them I recall - the number is listed on the 100% part of the stats). It's the same with a lot of the stuff in V, you only have to do half the stunt jumps for example. If you look up a 100% guide it'll list everything for you.

The missable Random Event you're remembering is where you go back to the car dealership as Franklin or Michael and find Simeon there, he'll run away while some bodyguards attack you and you can choose to run after him and kill him or not. It becomes available after the mission Friend Request and is no longer available after The Jewel Store Job. But nothing to worry about since you don't need it for 100%.

Don't you mix this up with the psychiatrist you can kill or not?

nope.

(timestamp: 1:31:47) he just didn´t follow him in that clip, if you are quick, then you can follow him and then kill him

No they're two different things, only similarity is they both have a kill or spare choice. That one isn't a "Random Event" as such, it's just the final psychiatrist visit, which is marked on the map like a mission. It remains available for an unlimited amount of time even after the final mission (provided you don't choose option B) but like all the psychiatrist visits it isn't required for 100%.

The random event I'm referring to, posted by @rollschuh2282 above, is much earlier in the game and involves going to the car dealership as Michael or Franklin and confronting Simeon.

I thought you can go to Simeon only right after the repo mission if you switch back to Franklin?

It does take place after the repo mission but it isn't available right afterwards. It's available between the missions Friend Request and The Jewel Store Job. And either Franklin or Michael can do it.

Thanks guys! This Simeon thing does ring a bell, so I was probably thinking about that.

I'm aware that I don't have to complete every single thing to get to 100%; the point is that i want to complete the game as fully as possible :)
