Being able to hire NPCs to fill out jobs

Too many times either players quit during a job or you're waiting forever for the job to fill up so you can start it. Being able to hire NPCs would fill these things up and spend less time waiting.

Nerf their skills and make them bad though to compensate. A real human player should always be better than an NPC.

How about the option to hire our other player character as backup? They function like a NPC but can be directed by the main player character.

I’ve been wishing for this feature for a while. Would be even better if you could hire them in freeroam as well. Have up to 3 team members/security people. Even have them drive/ride along with your in your vehicle of choice (like the targets in Head Hunter) with the ability to upgrade their skills, weapons type, clothing style etc to fit your organization.

this could work for MC as well, they could ride in formation etc

It should definitely be possible - even on console - after all, being able to issue orders to AI team mates has been a thing in since Perfect Dark on the N64 (Not the first game to do this, but one of the earlier 3D console games which let you do this...)

I doubt theres many people out there that dont want this/didnt think about this in the past 7 years 😛

The irony is that those types of NPC's have been in the game since day 1, theres a special kind of bodyguard AI that is used in a few sp missions, and its literally exactly this, they will attack anybody that attacks the player OR that the player attacks, they hop in passenger seats of a vehicle if player gets in said vehicle, or if they cant get in they will jack a nearby vehicle and follow u. And they work just fine in Online (proven by the fact that occasionally when a cheater spawns copies of yourself on you, they behave like this)

Damn i loved that game, i always placed 2 Darksims in a spot, and made it my base, and then went out hunting the enemy npcs, or other players, played via Splitscreen good old times.

Man with 2 Darksims VS Man with 2 Darksims, it was fun like hell.

I wish there were a reboot of that game, on PC in UHD graphics, awesome sound, good voice acting with actual moving lips etc. would love to play these old maps online against others.

There was a HL2 or Counterstrike Source mod of it, but i think it has never been finished. Really really loved that game.

I thought that was the point of the Casino Heist crew

But no, they just sit there and absorb 20% of your take by doing absolutely f*cking nothing

i guess what we have in the meantime is the Rare Replay remake of it, which includes dual-stick support on as standard (on the N64 you needed 2 controllers for dual sticks), updated graphics and sound and online play.  The big downside is that you can't have local multiplayer unless everyone has an Xbox Live account...

I too put this in a few wishlist threads. 😁  You use to be able to recruit a bunch of gang members to follow you around back in the day.  Also in GTA4 you could recruit those two dudes from Dwayne to follow you around.  All we can do now is call NPCs to attack a person.  They dont follow you around or help with anyone else who is attacking you.  How about being able to call these poeple for these options...

Merryweather - request convoy protection (ie. 2 ground vehicles or 1 ground + 1 buzzard that follows and attacks anyone who attacks you

Securoserv - request two skilled bodyguards (highest shoot accuracy,  hardest to kill,  most expensive)

Martin - request two goons (medium shoot accuracy and average to kill)

Gerald or Lavar - request two gangbangers (lowest shoot accuracy,  easiest to kill,  least expensive)

This would be really helpful with business sales if you can use them as backup, or one of the NPCs driving as you shoot a vehicle turret etc.

nobody would ever be able to agree on how accurate and useful they should be or what their mission success rate would be... Players would fail a heist with NPC characters one time and 5 minutes later would come to these boards to complain or go bitch to rockstar about it... Thats why I hope NPC teammates never happens.

Besides I want a dynamic team mate who behaves like a real human who's been playing the game for a while, not like generic AI that can follow you around and get inside and outside of vehicles with you, takes the fun out of the mission by killing enemies for you, and that gives you a list of 5 commands... yeah thats cute.... 5 commands? LMAO.

Don't play this sh*t but Ubisoft is adding AI teammates.

I really want to hire NPCs to go on heists. Sometimes you got 3 people and you need 1 more but it takes forever. Hire an NPC and you'd start it faster

That would be a really good idea. They even did this in 04 with San Andrea's. They're definitely able to.

I don't think even the most talented coder or programmer could create an AI character to be as spectacularly dumb and useless as some of the dolts I have been on heists with.

I guess you've never played the Goldeneye mission where you had to escort Natalya

Maybe you could program a character who doesn't understand the concept of stealth when, let's say for example trying to smuggle a vehicle with an EMP into a research lab. But could you program the character so it does the same stupid thing forty times in a row without ever learning, changing or adapting their tactics despite you yelling at them, texting them, threatening them and bashing them over the head with a baseball bat? Doubtful.

I can already imagine the 'clever' programming that Rockstar would implement if NPCs could be used in jobs / heists.

"Heist failed - the NPC on crowd-control accidentally shot a hostage..."

"Oh, you and your crew are about to parachute to the dinghy with 100% of the Pac Standard heist take? Wouldn't it be a shame if one of your NPCs accidentally fell off their bike..."

"What a shame! One of your NPC crew accidentally didn't leave the casino vault quickly enough because their pathing accidentally got caught on a trolley..."
