What ruined online for you?

It really depends on your platform. I'm sure PC is like that. Consoles are not. There are a certain number of glitchers doing god mode and stuff, but they are rare and you can avoid them usually; it's nothing like people abusing mod menus. The only things "ruining" online on consoles are the balance issues and lack of true PvE lobbies that Rockstar built in intentionally.

Still don't agree with the hacker stuff on PC being so terrible, unless it's just an auto aim issue. I play on free aim and rarely ever see anyone bothering anyone else. If someone does, one of the other players with a menu boots them from the session and we all continue doing our thing. I use a menu, so other players can't f*ck with me anyways, so perhaps I just don't notice it because I am too busy playing.

That's a very obtuse way of looking at things.

 

GTA:Online is a very unique game, and it is unique for a plethora of reasons. But what you'll find is that many people play thia game for very specific reasons that don't necessary lead to actually enjoying the game as a whole.

 

One example is, GTA V Story Mode is dead. They've even stopped adding new cars to the mode. So you have people who were completely fine with single player who had to move over to GTA:Online just to enjoy the exclusives. And yeah, the exclusives are nice, but there are oh so many things about GTA:Online that are so annoying and get in the way, or make it all seem not worth it at all.

 

I myself only started playing GTA:Online to get the cars and the apartments. That was it. I by no means loved the game. But I loved the cars. And eventually I did stop playing because I coughed up the cash for a PC and started modding and started enjoying all of those exclusive features in story mode.

 

I'm still here because new updates means new content for me even though I play in story mode. Other people are still here because new stuff is new stuff, and despite the game's many annoyances, it's always nice to see what's new.

 

I've seen mostly reasonable answers within this thread, explaining what really did ruin the game for many. And there's nothing wrong with it either.

 

What I find more irritating is people who whine about anything negative and seem to parade around with that dumbass "good vibes only" mentality. Some of the worst people I've dealt with have been the kind to promote toxic positivity which is in fact a thing.

 

Instead of pretending everything is perfect and being a mindless consumer so that a company that doesn't care about you can continue to provide for their stockholders, I'd much rather people express what's really on their mind.

 

I hate to sound arrogant, but it really just boggle my mind that since I've stopped playing this game, people are still requesting the same things, the same fixes, the same little features that someone may have already made a mod for over on gta5-mods.com. It's just ridiculous.

 

This game is so packed full of misses opportunities, "why did they do that / why didn't they do that" scenarios and just overall poorly made products, topped off with outrageous prices and tedious underpaying missions.

 

And I personally already had everything in GTA:Online before I left. It wasn't all that. I couldn't imagine spending hours of my free time to accumulate all of that.

 

Bottom line is the game was ruined for many, any if they still play it, they play it for many reasons because there's no real alternative to better suit their wants and needs.

 

So people are gonna complain, and considering this is just a forum, I see nothing wrong with complaining. I don't lurk forums as much anymore, I use social media less, etc... and I've realized that if you feel a certain way you're entitled to feel that way. It's really stupid to me when people try to make you feel bad or wrong for having an opinion. Childish really. And believe me, there is nothing hard or "courageous" about that...
