For reasons I truly don't understand myself I joined a "grinding" crew and all we did was deliveries in closed lobbies, which kind of sucked (think non-stop back to back post-op and trash deliveries). I got promoted within the crew (which looking back I shouldn't have bothered with) and it was like I would come home from work and go to work. It wasn't a game anymore, it was a second job. I just found myself just not wanting to play.  Then after a pivotal moment on discord I walked away from everything, the crew, online, the game in general.

Didn't come back until several months later when my PC was finally up and running.

I control the narrative now and haven't been this happy with the game in awhile.

I love my Vigilante, though. Great for taking down idiots in jets, collecting bounties, etc.

I especially love taking it on the highway, parking against a guard rail and hitting the boost when NPC cars drive by. They go flying, cause chaos, explode, etc. I can do it for hours. I really enjoy hearing the screams of an NPC as they burn alive, lol.

I know I sound sarcastic here, but a sandbox game that gives you 0 control or tries to control your experience is a pretty sh*tty sandbox game.

* Looks at RDRO *

What a sh*t show that game still is. That's what killed that game for me, no choices or options/flexibility. Just a crappy one size fits all bag of bollocks where we're playing R*'s way, not ours. That and the childish top trumps cards of course, lol.

So hoping that game dies so R* take it back a notch and give players their own game of it, but seems too many are keen to see things like freedom die out, kids novelties, and a ever broken game, well, 2 year old beta, reign.

I played GTA Online when it first launched in 2013 and played on/off for a few years - I lost interest pretty quickly because the experience seemed bleak and repetitive. Fast forward 7 years and I'm playing again as of 2 weeks ago and I'm absolutely loving it. There has been countless updates over the years which have brought some brilliant content (some trash too).

Coincidentally, I am enjoying micro-managing businesses and the nightclub. I'm also enjoying experiencing new heists, currently The Doomsday Heist. I don't bother with events, adversaries or races and instead focus solely on bringing in cash and doing what proper missions there are at my disposal.

The only thing I dislike are some vehicles, I.e. the Oppressor. It's annoying af to run into one of those things whilst trying to sell goods or whilst just trying to get about your regular tasks to get blown to smithereens by someone who's bored and has far too much time on their hands. That's my only real gripe.

I don't agree with people who are saying everything is too expensive and that money is hard to come by because it simply isn't. I'm playing on a new account and have started from scratch with the Premium Edition and have had no issues raising funds and gathering new properties every day or two. You just have to know how to manage businesses and fronts.

I first played GTAO on PC in 2016, but what ruined it is the long loading times, and the flying broomsticks with missiles.

The fact that its boring, that ruined GTAO.

No new areas (like.. islands or something, or just a trip to north yankton), no new cities, most new dlc vehicles I bought are going out the door in the same week.

The homes are plain boring. Not saying it should become a Sims game but damn you should at least be able to furnish it a little.

Some modders ruined the game, but the biggest part is ruined bij R* themselves.

I discovered this very early on in the Vigilante's life. If you find a ramp, or even just a raised section of kerb, you can really send them spinning through the air. Even made a game of it with a friend standing in the LS river while I launched car after car from the freeway above until I flattened him. Wonder if something could be done with this in creator? Anyway, this is OT...

Repetitive missions, getting attacked for no reason, having to just constantly grind just to afford some fun.

For me it was flying motorcycles. And to that I add all of the Jetsons stuff.

GTA is a better experience with a gritty street crime vibe, using real-world facsimilies. It's what I get when my friends and I play in private lobbies. None of us (well one of us does) want to use any of that stuff, Oppressors, Up and Atomizers, Deluxos and the sort. It's all garbage and makes the game far worse in my (our) view. When I venture in to the public arena I'm quickly reminded of all that I do not like about what is otherwise a great game.

There are two ways that GTAO would be made great again in my view.

One, remove, or allow as a server choice, all of the futuristic crap like flying armed cars and bikes

Two, remove the dots showing player locations. This right here would transform GTA. Instead of having a shoot me I'm over here beacon, things like running a business would be enjoyable, and make it so that things like timing, stealth, recon, unpredictability and coordination would have a huge effect. And interfering in these business operations likewise would require teamwork and quick reactions. Having the dots just makes all of that pointless as anyone can jump online and instantly see where everyone is and make a beeline to ruin their day.

Imagine that if you dressed like a NPC and walked down the street with your weapons away, or drove a car that NPCs do too, that you could actually blend in and no one would know it was a player. Or if you want to stop another CEO's smuggling run you'd need to post lookouts to call your pals and report on the route. Any turn would throw those plans in to chaos, making things like interception much more difficult, leaving you out in left field most of the time. I know this ship has sailed and none of this will ever be true. But I think of what GTAO could be were it tailored for me and it is disheartening that it became what it did.

It's such a f*cking time eater.

I got addicted to it cuz certain things are still fun. I like certain game modes.

But what ruined it:

High pitched voices, only small children play this game.

It's hard to find serious players, but serious with a sense of humor.

I got like 3 accounts with different characters, and each of them owns millions, has extremely high kds, and all legit..

What for?

I gave the game to a friend of mine who lives 2 hours by Train away so I would take my time playing other games.

At the end of the day ain't nothing changed with gta online. I maintain my high kd and money and that's it. No fun

Look, griefers have been in the game ever since launch in October 2013.

What ruined the game for me was making a lot of the money making jobs have public session requirements starting with the CEO updates back in 2016. These requirements forced people to play with the griefers whereas with past updates, the jobs could be done in invite only lobbies. It was from there that I felt the game was becoming more and more PVP-oriented.

I recently created a second character (primary is nearing level 700, been playing for years, grinded for everything) and fancied a change.

It began as quite a fun experience; no cars, barely any weapons, no apartment, just running around as a level 1 and having no attention on me / no-one expecting me to fight them.

This is a total sh*tshow of a game now, especially for newer players.

It quickly became apparent that as a new player, you're f*cked. You cannot defend yourself.

I had to sink money into a nightclub + terrorbyte just to get some weapons that would help me, i.e. heavy sniper, however for me to stand a chance in any fight, I had to go CEO and use BST.

No way to avoid MK2s or jets. Don't get me started on the orbital cannon. That should never have been added. Just dreadful.

Switched it off, loaded up RDO and the difference is night and day in terms of how each game affects your mood.

From anxious and annoyed, to calm and reflective.

Oppressor mk2’s and Deluxos 100%. Can’t just go a drive around the map in a public lobby with your favourite car without getting blown up anymore. Really hope they don’t f*ck up GTA 6 the same way.

It's times like these where I wish game developers would get the idea of "sometimes less is more". I agree that trying to set foot in today's GTA Online as a new character can be hell. Plus, I don't want a game where I feel it's constantly trying to nickel and dime me. That's one of the things I hate about games as a service. I'm not saying that the idea of post-release content should disappear entirely, but I miss the days when a game felt like a product and a way to relax and play instead of yet another form of work.

2017 and 2018 were just awful for purists. Unrealistic flying troll vehicles and orbital cannons galore. Part of the reason why people chose this franchise over Saints Row back in the day was that GTA was more grounded and realistic. But look at the game (and possibly the franchise) now. It's just as zany as Saints Row, if not more. This isn't what a lot of people signed up for when they bought their copy of GTA V. It's only now that Rockstar is becoming more grounded with their vehicle lineups, releasing highly requested cars and fan-favorites from previous games.

A way to make gta great again is to make a lobby for xtreme(flying cars, flying bike, laser gun and orbital cannon) and one for regular play. I miss the days when you got into a shoot out with someone with machine guns

I don't mind them. They got special symbols on the map.

Let them get close.

Get off you vehicle before and shoot em up.

It's really easy.

The only thing annoying is that oppressor dick riders always try cuz they feel strong on this flying bitchstick.

They're not

That's the point! They're nothing without these weaponized stuff, what's annoying is, in missions, they kinda make it like they're playing solo, finished everything before other players can reach the destination, and ruining the payout..

That's why i'm sticking to client jobs and VIP work these days...

The vigilante does not. I use it all the time but I don't use the rockets. It has great value especially against god mode speedo punks.

The bugs.

I attempted to help a low ranking friend with his doomsday heist. I joined the mission where you need to rescue agent ULP from the foundry. Three attempts in and he still doesn't want to move. Go back to freemode to switch teams, and it eventually worked. Next up, the burnsites in the RCV mission didn't spawn anything in the vans. Restart mission: they showed up on the first site, but not the second. Another restart, same problem. Go back to freemode and restart and it finally works. Then the stromberg mission. Upon delivery nothing happens. No problem, just switch vehicles, right? Wrong. Still nothing happened. Did the mission three times before it finally worked. Time for the final. Got stuck on a loading screen when trying to get in the Avenger. Restart the game. Same problem. Restart again, it finally works.

How are you supposed to do the Criminal Mastermind challenge when you can't do 4/5 missions first time due to bugs?

Rockstar ruined it for me. They were supposed to make this MMO in a GTA universe and instead we got military-grade vehicles and a hovering motorcycle that fires homing missiles.
I can’t remember the last time I went on GTA Online and had a good, old-fashioned gunfight on the streets without some try hard getting their hydra or Oppressor.

Some people may find this an odd one.

Something that ruins GTA Online for me is the requirements for some paint unlocks. Win air race, win sea race, win Rally! race (requires 4 people)

100 turbo starts, slipstreams, whatever. I am not a racer, I collect cars but I hate the racing in GTA:O. I play heists and gunrunning only. I don't have the time or the energy to unlock paints.

Why can't we just have a buy-it-now price for those paints, like with Arena? I don't want to have to win races, or ask friends to lose a race for me.

I think that both have lost their potency in recent months. The Oppressor riders are so crap that they are easy to defeat, and Lazers / Hydras can be gotten rid of just as quickly using the explosive sniper.

I watched a hero the other day being chased around Los Santos in a Nokota by a crew of Lazer griefers. He was taking them out though, they couldn't get him.
