Mostly cause the theme is the complete opposite of IV and TLAD. It's over the top, no dark themes, all of Luis' friends survive and everything works out fine in the end! I'd have at least loved the option to take the deal and shoot Tony

I still don’t think there’s a weaker storyline and rushed feeling GTA like LCS. Even the cutscenes felt low budget and rushed with dialogue slapped into the background. Lol Toni’s’ “Ma” was just a building interior with voice lines .Nostalgia won’t ever let me forget how lazy this game actually felt

Toni's Ma was always invisible, it's more they carried on the character trait from III, rather than not animating her. I know what you mean generally about the cutscenes though. I think the worst GTA is probably one of the original gameboy ports. my least favourite game over all I think is actually GTAIV, It is the one I have played the least. I do not like the brown colour palette and seriousness of the vibe of the story.

I agree that the plot and characters were undercooked, but the city map itself I thought was good - I would argue even an improvement from GTA3. I especially liked Fort Staunton being an upscale commercial area before finding out what happened to it.

 

I haven't played every GTA, so I just have to go by the ones I know. For me the worst/least favorite one would be GTA4, for the same reasons Mike above gives. As a departure from the 3D universe it succeeds, but I felt it really lacked the "soul" of GTA, without the humor, satire or excess.

If I'd played them it'd probably be GTA Advance (if that even counts) Chinatown Wars or one of the 2D era games. But of the ones I've played certainly LCS

china town wars,yes this is still a 3d game but its a top down game and in 2009 or 10? that feels like rockstar didnt even care

v cause the storyline feels so rushed only 69 missions compare it to sa having so much missions

I haven't played any of the old top down games or the PSP/mobile games and it's been well over a decade since I've played 3 or Vice City so I'm not sure if even I trust my own opinion on the subject but I remember not having as much fun with Vice City as I did with most GTAs.

 

It was almost like the way I am with games now.  I enjoyed it just fine when I first got it but got bored with it pretty quickly. I think part of it was that the story just didn't really give me anything to connect to. Tommy, though well acted, wasn't someone I particularly liked. He sort of came off as just a whiny asshole. Not someone I particularly liked jumping into the shoes of, I guess.

 

I just recently tried replaying San Andreas a couple of days ago and it was considerably worse than I remembered. I was prepared for the gameplay to be borderline terrible but I didn't remember the voice acting and dialogue being so stiff and awkward.

GTA: LCS. It's incredible how a game can waste it's main theme so bad, we could've get a Godfather's level game, with various mob related mechanics, side missions and bussinesses, or even stortyline. Instead we got another GTA III, and not in a good way (Like GTA IV was).

1) gta online. Rockstar sees it as a seperate game from gta5. Rockstar sold out with their gta online. I looked up some youtube videos about the gameplay from some of their content updates and it looks retarded to me.

 

where's the company that made all the brilliant games from the ps2 and ps3 era? I haven't played rdr2 (no ps4 + gaming laptop probably not powerfull enough + hand issues) yet but I'm sure its a great game.

Don't get me wrong, it was the REASON I got a PSP, finding out they made a GTA that was portable. AND I bought one off of someone that was already modded.

Because it was the first, I forgave that it was a watered down GTAIII.

 

With that said, it was a lack of options. With Vice City AND San Andreas being ported to Android/iOS, any reason to play it died, I could see myself playing VCS again, I can't LCS.

Older GTAs (prior to 3) were the worst. Horrendous jumping camera, messages disappear too quickly to read them, and the controls were sh*t.

 

If we are not talking about 2d games, then GTA 5, followed by GTA 4.

3D era - GTA 3 (it's not bad, but the next ones were better)

HD era - Very hard to decide, but I think i prefer to play GTA V over IV. So GTA IV imo

2D era. GTA1. It pains me as this was my first GTA, but that horrible zooming in and out camera can go thanks.

 

3D era. LCS. It’s ok for a handheld GTA I suppose, but it has very few redeemable qualities that come to my mind.

 

HD era. GTAO. Tried playing it a couple of months ago. It’s still as much balls as I remember.

 

If I had to pick an overall worst one then it would be GTAO as GTA1 and LCS are held back by technology limitations so their mediocrity isn’t entirely their fault. GTAO is fuelled by greed and inconsistent direction.

LCS : The only good side of it is the epic theme and some activities were a bit fun unlike VCS sidemissions 

And I understand Rockstar just wanting to make a GTA game for the PSP before anything else which is an achievement

I'd say GTA 5. It's not that the game is bad (though it is very ill designed), but it isn't worthy of being called a GTA really. I discussed at length the problems with it, but here are a few I can remember:

- Bad game mechanics. Lagged controls are not suitable for the arcade sandbox game.

- Overly secure, multiple passwords to log in, constant internet connection required.

- Constantly downloads 5Gb up-dates that have no effect on the gameplay. Occasionally downloads a 86gb up-date, even though the game is already fully installed from the discs.

- Badly designed map - all flat, all urbanised, the motorway just circles it and comes back to the city it started from.

- Large masses of land is just wasted space - mountains

- Wild animals kill you immediately out in the open leaving no chance to explore

- Mediocre music that I can easily get on Radio 1. Some small pop names mostly. Talk radios are an absolute rubbish.

- Not enough houses to buy to save given the size of the map. Inability to change the default vehicles.

- The characters are not memorable... And I am not even talking about Franklin, it takes me a while to even remember the villains' names.
