What are some of the best lesser-known Horror films?

Oh nice! I've got my latest urge to go on a horror binge on so this thread is perfect, there's so many here I've never ever heard of before. I've watched three indies lately, two of which I liked.

The Void was fun and I can see myself watching it again in the future. A little hard to follow and understand sometimes but I got enough to enjoy it. It was like Silent Hill, The Mist and The Thing rolled into one with a bit of sci-fi near the end. It had some half-decent characters in it and some pleasantly gory special effects.

The Monster was also a good one, about an abusive mother and her daughter getting trapped in their car with a monster outside. It was like Jurassic Park: The Tyrannosaurus Paddock: The Movie. Had some nice character writing looking into their relationship, which maybe took a bit too much focus over the horror parts.

I also watched Dark Was The Night which was just so bad. It went practically nowhere in the first hour and some really bad writing and dialogue. Some of the actors did a good job with what they had to work with but couldn't save it.

Some other, possibly lesser known, horror movies I've seen would be The Cabin In The Woods which was a horror/comedy written around a lot of common horror tropes, and The Evil Dead 2013 which had more gore than I would normally go for but I still found enjoyable.

Not really among the best, but this movie scared me when I was kid. I didn't know it was an inspiration for the Predator.

Without Warning (1980)

Just saw the trailer for Bliss (2019).  This looks interesting...

I watched this. If you like those types of crazy audiovisual experience type of films then it's worth a watch. Closest things I could compare it to that I've seen are probably Mandy(the one with Nic Cage) and Gaspar Noe's Climax.

I guess my main gripe with it is that the main character is kind of an unlikeable bitch, but I still enjoyed it a lot.

The soundtrack's pretty good:

I still haven't checked it out. Mandy was a bit meh for me. I mean, I love Cage and I really liked the look of Mandy but found it wasn't quite living up to what I expected. Bearing it mind it could have been me. I was a bit tired when watching it. I haven't seen Climax either. I'll check it out. I've only seen Enter The Void by Noe.

I had a listen tot he soundtrack you posted and you're right. It's pretty good.

Climax was a really trippy movie, just like Enter the Void. I guess that was the feel Noe was going for. The camera work and cinematography is outstanding, as is always with Noe's films. The long take shots and camera movements provide a sense of realism and drags you into the movie. If you haven't seen his film Irreversible (maybe you already have), you should check that out, too. It's really disturbing, and is dubbed by Noe as a movie that most people will not be able to watch all the way to the end. People even walked out in shock and disgust during the premiere of the film. The camera work is also nauseating.

Very nice. I'll defo check it out.

I missed out on some good films. Is Irreversible that film with the infamous rape scene? I've only heard about it because of that controversy but had no idea it's Noe film. I must going on a little Noe ramble and see what he's all about because I did love Enter the Void but was because around that time I was perhaps enjoying something that is shown in the intro of the film. I would confirm that it's a very good representation of the real thing.

Yeah, it's the one with the rape scene. Around 9 minutes long, all one take. Some even say it's more disturbing and hard to watch than the fire extinguisher scene. It's definitely a disturbing movie.
