Schokoladeka
Hello, So we all know GTA V is coming out to PS5 and Xbox Series X as an "upgraded and enhanced" version - re-ported if you will, but I wonder if this also applies to PC? Or does this mean that all of GTA V's graphical settings will simply be maxed out on these new consoles? Or are they planning to add Ray Tracing (reworked shadows/reflections and lighting)? Thanks for reading!
southparkmayor
Knowing R* they'll announce a PC version several months after and then delay it some more months and then finally release it on a date according to whoever is working in accounting to maximize profit. I wouldnt hold your breath for R* at all anymore. They are dead as a company to longtime fans. They reside in some hole a former husk of themselves. Ash_735
Odds are the PC version is the "enhanced" version, it'll just be running in 4k and maybe 60fps if they're lucky. Rotorhead359

Yeah, lol. 99% that you're right, damn.
Rotorhead359
The least I expect is "PC Ultra" 4k60. Should be doable on the new console hardware. I don't expect more though. Ray Tracing, better lighting, shadows and reflections requires a significant upgrade to GTA V's engine, which was originally built in DirectX 10 and upgraded to 11 for current gen. They would have to rebuild the engine in DXR to make ray tracing happen. Even RDR2 doesn't have it, and that was build on DirectX 12. From a business standpoint, I don't see them adding Ray Tracing to GTA V. They will probably save Ray Tracing for GTA 6. It would add nothing to gameplay, or make a 7 year old game as good as new again, and it wouldn't sell them more shark cards. Map expansions and more functional interiors are always welcome, of course. Edited July 4, 2020 by AirWolf359
D T
If I had to guess, they will probably release an update through Rockstar Launcher that splits the game in half. GTA Online will become a separate executable with its own installation path and GTA V will have its own as well. Any enhanced graphical effects would just be part of the update. I don't have much faith they'll add something crazy like raytracing, but more foliage and trees would go a long way and be relatively simple to add. Lock n' Stock
I can literally just see this "expanded and enhanced" version being a straight port of the PC version. In other words, the least amount of effort required, with is becoming more par for the course with R* these days. Marty892
I dont see them doing anything other than porting it straight like it is from current gen/PC and just make it running at 60fps cap with 4k resolution. Rotorhead359
Ash_735
The main reason to think this is because they opted to NOT do a Pro/X patch for current consoles, GTAV doesn't even get the best out of the current consoles, therefore just upping the res to 4k, putting Grass and Particle on Ultra and having the game target 60fps will be "enough" of a jump when compared to the original PS4/XB1 release. D T
If they were only doing that, I don't think it'd take them an entire year to do so. I have a feeling they're planning on adding something pretty significant to make us actually wanna upgrade. I'm thinking it's either Liberty City or some kind of massive expansion to Los Santos.
