What would have happened?

what do you think would have happened in Bury the Hatchet if the Chinese didn't show up?

 

I think Trevor would have killed Michael

I think the opposite actually. I can't say for certain what would have happened but I think it's more likely Michael shoots Trevor, cause I don't think Trevor could bring himself to harm someone he considers to be a friend ever and especially not Michael who Trevor despite all his complaints about his treachery, considers his best friend. 

 

Was just rewatching the mission cutscene and Trevor never was able to pull the trigger, when the Triads arrived Michael got distracted but instead of taking the opportunity to shoot Michael, he throws the gun at Michael to give himself a chance to escape without killing Michael. Infact Michael is the one who shoots at Trevor immediately after. Even in ending C when they're pointing guns at each other again it's noteworthy that Trevor releases his gun first while Michael points the gun at him for a while even after that. 

 

That's just the kind of guy Trevor is, to those he would consider a friend like Michael or Franklin or Brad he'd do anything for them and cant harm them no matter what, while with others if you catch him in the wrong moment or piss him off like Johnny and Floyd he'd make mincemeat out of you. 

 

To answer your question, I think what would mostly happen is Trevor would find a way to get out of the situation to think about what to do next or Michael would manage to cap him. T may defend himself but don't think he'd kill Michael.

I feel like there's a small chance Michael would've gone through with it and killed Trevor, and zero chance that Trevor would have killed Michael unless he really had to in order to defend his life, since he actuallly does feel a deep loyalty to Michael. But I think it's most likely both of them would've "chickened out", neither of them really totally wanted to do it or they wouldn't have hesitated so long.

 

Michael was certainly the more likely to do it, after all he did pull the trigger and might've hit him if they hadn't been disturbed. But at the same time it might've been the panic of being disturbed that caused him to pull it so it's not definitive. I think if they hadn't been disturbed they most likely either would've ended up putting their guns down or getting out of it in some other non-lethal way. And even if Michael did shoot once he probably would rethink it/not have the guts to do it again if he missed first time. 

 

If that first shot did hit and kill Trevor I'm not sure if he'd regret it or not. Right after he probably would, but knowing how disloyal and all about self preservation he is from other events of the game it probably wouldn't take him long to breathe a sigh of relief and be glad the problem is out of his life and move on. Whereas if Trevor had ended up killing Michael somehow he'd regret it for the rest of his life and probably become even more f*cked up.
