villanut
Hi Guys, I was thinking of buying the Complete edition in the steam sale, haven't played this since I had the game on the ps3. I've noticed lots of threads about trouble with performance etc and mods no longer working, can anyone be kind enough to give me a list of mods that do work with the complete edition ? I'm guessing most won't work if so i don't think I'll bother buying it Edited June 28, 2020 by villanut
TWIST_OF_HATE
@villanut first of all, buying IV now in form of Complete Edition is a bad idea, because Complete Edition is definitely one of worst IV versions ever I recently bought it, but just to pay respect to R* for this amazing game, I won't even bother to install it, because i'm using version, which I'm considering as best - with patch 1.0.4.0 installed if you wondering why, you can check this topic: as for mods, I can advice Fusion Fix, that's one of few mods which works on Complete Edition: Edited June 28, 2020 by TWIST_OF_HATE
GTA Fan 92
I just wanted to create the same topic... I haven't played GTA IV for ages and I thought it would be a good idea to play the story once again with mods... I've made the mistake to reedem the code of my DVD version on the Rockstar Launcher, in order to get the complete edition for FREE (lol). Now I'm forced to be online when I want to play the game and obviously the patch 1.0.8.0 is crap. I guess I can't roll back because the code is now bounded to my f*cking Social Club Account? Is there a way to downgrade this version anyway? Or should I just buy another GTA IV DVD version? Edited June 29, 2020 by GTA Fan

If you still have discs, you can freely enjoy this older version, with no obligation to update the game. Edited June 29, 2020 by Kubigz

kubon352
Yup. I recommend using this article for installing GTA IV (and many other games) https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto_IV GTA IV disc setup is quite outdated and problematic on modern systems, but not impossible. With article above, you'll have to spend some extra time to adjust everything, but it's for the best. Rockstar Launcher version is indeed easier to install, but on the other hand, it's broken in many other ways and songs from radio stations are cut. I also recommend using patch 1.0.7.0. I wil check it out later. But why 1.0.7.0? isn't everyone crazy about Patch 4 (1.0.4.0)? Edited June 29, 2020 by GTA Fan
kubon352
Allegedly better performance, but most of the mods are compatible with 1.0.7.0. One of them is Fusion Fix, which improves few crucial aspects of the game. GTA Fan 92
GTA Fan 92
I've tested the Complete Edition version for a while now and I have to say that in my case the performance is pretty good actually... Almost constant 60fps at 2560x1440 I mean we are talking about GTA IV! I also couldn't see any special bugs, just the usual. Many mods doesn't work with this version compared to 1.0.7.0? Is it any how possible to launch this game without Rockstar Launcher or at least offline? I wouldn't mind keep using this version if it's fine to mod, otherwise I'm going to install from DVD. However, If there is no working graphical enhancement mod that adds AA, I will definitely uninstall the Complete Edition. The missing AA is the biggest issue in GTA IV IMO at least. GTA Fan 92
So is it possible to mod the game together with the Rockstar Launcher ? No possibility to run the game without the Launcher ?
WillNotTheGamer
I dont think so, I use the 1.0.7.0 version of the game and just downgrade
GTA Fan 92
That's so sad... It was a nice experience playing GTA IV at 60fps...
Guest
Downgrade to version 1.0.7.0 please. I tried modding version 1.2.0.43 but it failed to work, don't know how though. It glitched and the roads disappeared after applying Clean IV and road textures mod. Would not recommend it.
kubon352
What's the command line for stopping launcher from downloading original files after modding?
