How is this game so broken? I don't think there is a game port that aged less gracefully than Vice City for PC.

It's like playing crash bingo, it's always a new problem that nobody knows how to fix! I spent 5 hours trying to get one single mod working, the "classic axis" mod to be precise, and it finally worked after I spent hours rummaging through the forums, and now again it's broken! And there doesn't seem to be any fix, the game is just so badly made! I remember it was a pain getting it to run back in 2003 on PC, and somehow it's even worse now.

I give up, unless Rockstar makes a proper Vice City remaster (Which is unlikely) or someone else makes a sandbox set in 1980's Miami my itch will remain unscratched.

The mod doesn't work so you blame the game itself? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's the mod, or how you've installed the mod.

I've never had any problems with VC. I used to use the old VCMM tool to mod the game and I almost never had any issues.

No, the game itself WAS broken, it just crashed whenever the opening cutscene at Marco's Bistro ended, then after I fixed that it would crash whenever I got to the Ocean View Hotel. And now the mod works fine, I just ranted how it took so much effort to get it to work, but the problem I have now happens even when I delete the mod, for some reason every mission past Guardian Angel and also every time I pass the AmmuNation near the Hotel it just messes up the textures and they won't load properly, if I save while they're messed up it stays like that until I die or get busted. So it's definitely something wrong with the game.

Seconded, played VC since 03/04, spent a good 14 years modding that game and never had any significant issues that were caused by the game itself. Third party mods not working with the game are no fault of the developers, and as an extension of that are you sure you didn't butcher any other game files whilst trying to install mods?

Just installed it on a Steam copy, no issues.

Alright, I have FINALLY got the game working properly. I needed to install the Limit Adjuster because for some unknown reason my sh*tty laptop didn't like how the game was set up and would just mess the textures up if I passed some random spot. Now it works flawlessly.
