Honestly, I cannot believe you can ever connect with those speeds, 1mbps down and .5 up.  You are recommended to have at least 3 mpbs down and 1 up to play online games.  My internet providers lowest tier is 25 mbps down and 3 up.

Is this a joke, or is it serious?

I know it can be frustrating dealing with R* support (and believe me, I've had plenty of frustration), but there's no need to be condescending towards the support agents responding to tickets.

These agents are probably not the most clued up people with regard to knowing how things work, and most likely won't be earning more than the minimum state says they are entitled to, so treating them like sh*t isn't going to get you closer to where you want to be. The old phrase "You'll catch more flys with honey than you will with vinegar" does ring true from time to time.

I agree with the other two posters though, if those are your genuine connection readings, I's be thinking the issue is more at your end.

You call that helping? I had one question that went unanswered, and a whole lot of the same ol runaround I've been getting since Beta. This disconnect issue is on steroids since they started patching on their side.

 

I realize they cannot fix my internet, I never asked them too. I know it's crappy, but it is maxed out for my area. I simply asked what the error codes mean.

No joke, just an example of clueless R* support regurgitating fixes that do not work for me, all while avoiding my simple question about the meaning of error messages.

Not only did they both guys answer your question, specifically, but this is your problem of which you are aware.  I have read some pretty bad responses to support tickets.  This is not one of them. You are clearly in the wrong here.  Your support ticket is on par with asking why R* isnt updating the 360/PS3 and begging them to do it.

I was sharing another miserable interaction with R*.

 

No shame for them according to you tolerant members of the R* Support team. Just sharing.

 

I don't see how the 5 responses this has gotten is anywhere near a "backfire" from this community.

 

I truly don't care what you R* Support supporters say. I am personally sick of the run around, same old tired excuses, this beautiful game is broken as hell and R* hires this third party support team to take the ass chewings.

 

They came nowhere near answering my question about the meaning of disconnect errors.

I am no lover of the support team and I've had my fair share of issues too(as many who have posted in here have as well), but in all respect, you were trolling the support team.

I am no lover of the support team and I've had my fair share of issues too(as many who have posted in here have as well), but in all respect, you were trolling the support team. 

I was looking for an answer in the form of:

 

20010004 means connection too slow

20010006 means unstable connection

 

I can't believe that I see all this different error messages and no one can really pin them down. I feel it is an unknown to these support team members. Why do they not ask some programmer what they mean? I would have.

I know, unfortunately they just don't have that info.  I'd be willing to bet they do ask dev's about some of these issues just like we ask them... but consider they are dealing with R* too, and we all know what that is like. Rockstar's attitude toward support is probably the same as the Dignum FBI treatment: "they're like mushrooms, feed ’em sh*t and keep ’em in the dark."

Correct.

 

R* support actually told me in a phone conversation some time back, that they never have any communication with the dev team except through written reports.

Get a signal booster see if that helps.  With you running off WiFi the further you are the weaker the signal. Also, WiFi will fluctuate and that’s probably why you’re constantly getting disconnected. You can also try buying a longer Ethernet cable or move your equipment to a central part of the room or closer to where you game. Your 1meg down is basically good for only email or web surfing. If you stream YouTube or Netflix and it buffers a lot, it’s your connection.
