first you need to have win 10 2004. thats the may update.  then install the driver . and then

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/150440-turn-off-hardware-accelerated-gpu-scheduling-windows-10-a.html

Thanks!

Will try that tomorrow.

It's well hidden!

Hope it has a little effect on my 980. I'm a few frames short to have an almost constant 60 FPS!

did you turn on hardware scheduling on windows?  its off by default you have to turn it on and restart.

Weirdly it was on by default for me so didn't touch it.

some people are reporting up to 10 fps increase in min and max fps in rdr2 pc.  using VULKAN api.

10 FPS is unrealistic TBH. In r/nvidia, there's a guy who runs benchmark on pascal cards with every driver released. He too showed less or no change in FPS in all the DX12 and 11 games he tested.

It doesn't work for Maxwell cards. Only Pascal and Turing supports it. :/

I have seen an improvement but I wouldn't say it's significant. I was able to set some settings up from where they were.

There's a lot of conflicting information on the benefits of hardware accelerated scheduling, it might be more beneficial on weaker CPUs and do almost nothing on stronger CPUs.

So apparently latest patches improved game's optimization. I was able to increase some of the graphics options with little impact on performance. My CPU is i3 8100, so definitely there's something better. Not constant 60 FPS, but enjoyable 30-40 in 1080p.

I'm quite upset about other broken things in game, but in this case - good job Rockstar!

Yup. Whatever weather you have when you join the server is the same weather you'll have the entire time you're on that server. I just spent over 5 hours on a server with lightning and thunder (with dark clouds) but no rain.

Story mode is affected too. I remember it was raining at least once a day, sometime even more often. Now it's only cloudy, dark, but with no rain.

You guys should try to enable rain with a trainer in SP and see if it works.

About that rain in story mode again...

I played today in my 100% save and it was raining sometimes, but on my current play through it does not. May it be scripted that rain is not that often during some chapters?

If I recall right, on my first play through I was also wondering why it almost never rain.

I played a little bit yesterday. I was fishing by the pond in tall tree.

big blue sky and then in 30 seconds it started getting grey, really grey! Here was lightinging.

i never had such a sudden change before. Nor lighting.

Ans 30 seconds later it all cleared up to an even bluer sky.

I liked the effect, but it was way too, fast!

Yeah, weather transits too fast since very beginning.

You must be talking about story because transitions are rare in online when I play, and I'm on at least 5 hours each day. When there is any "transition", it's thunder but the sky is still blue. But it's over in about 30 seconds. Basically, the weather remains what it was when I first joined the server. In fact, I weather shop when I log in. Find a server with the weather I want and stay there. lol

Correct. However having a thunderstorm is something that I've seen maybe two times since I've been playing in story mode.

Sadly because the dark weather coming was realistic, albeit a little too fast, but the clearing was way too fast.

Anyone know of this? It's pretty much the same bug, not sure if it's GPU releated or what...

Basically the same thing that happens in game on Red Dead as in Fallout 4. Rainbow texture on certain foliage and textures of npc's clothing.

Well, when looking on animals from a distance in that focus view (sorry, don't know exact name for it in eng), they shine in many colours.

Must be GPU related. I've never seen that stuff in either game.

Does anybody know how to force the windows 2004 update? Because I still don't have the option to download and install it 2 month after release.

There is 1 graphic setting when set to ultra in RDR2 that causes some weird graphic glitches but for the life of me I can't remember which one it is.

Do a search and manually download it.

I was wanting to ask everyone if Rockstar has even acknowledged the broken/cartoonish weather transition speed in "Story Mode", but after reading the latest comments its seems like they haven't. It also sounds like "Story Mode" now has additional weather issues beside transition speed.

I can hardly express how much it boggles my mind that Rockstar would let something like this ride, when they went so hardcore into Form over Function in general. They wanted people to experience an as-realistic-as-possible Interactive Story, with so many aspects that objectively conflict with sound principles of gameplay design, in their attempt to immerse people into the story.

Well, using GTA V as a basis, I've already accepted the likelihood that I am going to be disappointed and annoyed with the gameplay, but I'm looking forward to experiencing it for the things that it reportedly does very well. And this sort of bull defecates all over the very thing that is supposed to be the game's strength.

It's a dev's job to fix any and all discovered problems that rank above the level of "Bush at 251.19, 945.03, 34.58 is slightly sunk into the ground", but even so, this kind of thing wouldn't bother me near as much if I thought that the gameplay itself was going to be engaging.

it's just a feature stolen from mafia 3

Rockstar never acknowledges issues even if they are working on them. Every reply I get from support, no matter how big or small the issue is, no matter how many people are having the same issue, they tell me to do this or that with my PC (or PS4 when I played on that), such as verify the files or clear the cache as if the problem is a local one. It would be nice if they would let people know they are actually working on a fix rather than giving us the usual blow off. If they were to let people know it would cut down on the reports of that particular issue.

Looks like they've been pushing background updates to improve the game's performance.
