EXE file is nothing its just a start-file and file for protection the game from copying it....all engine and other pacthes that Rockstar made being made only to game system files or whatever....EXE file is oldest thing....same with GTA3.... @brams Posted May 9, 2003 Share Posted May 9, 2003 and all game updates end by the at least 2 weeks before release date... why? because with every update to game systme there must be a long beta-test for ALL game elements....ALL not 1-2 missions....so develophers must be sure that game will be ready 2 weeks before release date....and in those 2 weeks they are posting all interviews and other stuff to make people want game.... isnt it simple? I know I probably shouldn't reply.. but.. Be as it may with if this is beta ot not, but your post is just wrong. where should I start. The GTA exes ARE the engine, they contain alot of stuff, more than many other games in fact. Sound paths are hard coded, car and weapon tables too. Unlike most moddable games which have all content definitions in sepparate file. One effect of doing it the R* way is that they need to recompile the exe every time the want to add or remove any of these hard coded things. As for the patch thing you mentioned. He, by law, can create one personal backup copy, to ensure that if by chance the origionals get destroyed, he still has it. However, he cannot transmit that backup to any other person, nor can he transmit it over the net, even to himself. I do however thank him for the release, that I will be playing shortly. The pictures sucked, but the manual is what totally made it believable. For those who are daft; things can come out earlier than projected release dates. For those who remember, back in 1996 when Nintendo released their N64 system, Toys R Us started selling their shipment the same day they received them. Two days before Nintendo's release date. Also, some stores, like Office Depot (Staples), FutureShop and others put big-ass price stickers in the top corner of their game boxes. Stores like Electronics Boutique does not, that was a pretty asinine thing to say. Stearic, you're lucky for getting the game first, but kinda idiotic for releasing it for piracy. :-) I'll be picking up my pre-ordered copy on Tuesday. Can't wait. Ask them to take a screenshot of something pacific IE Faggio doing an endo. Then if he has it he has either hooked up his ps2 to his monitor (although we would be able to tell is was a ps2 screenshot by deatil and sutff) OR he is telling the truth.
