Speed Week: Double Payouts on Open Wheel Races
Plus Triple Rewards for Parachute Races, Free Vehicles and More

Pedestrians, beware: keep an eye out for loose wheels and bits of flying chassis, would-be weekend warriors swerving through traffic, and plunging daredevils achieving terminal velocity – it’s Speed Week in Southern San Andreas.

The Open Wheel Race series is paying out doubled purses to all courageous drivers through June 24th. Slide behind the controls of a landbound missile and see if you can maneuver it around a hairpin at blinding speed.

Triple Rewards on Parachute Races

If soaring and gliding over your frustrated competitors while performing death-defying stunts is your thing, all Parachute Races are dishing out triple.

Or get your foot in the door and a leg up in the criminal industry – Associates & Bodyguards’ Salaries are triple the usual rate, and all VIP Work and Challenges are paying 2X GTA$ & RP.

Coil USA Tee

Play GTA Online any time before June 24th to collect the Coil USA tee – it’s a shirt that somehow screams "I love America! And my hybrid electric vehicle!"

Get a chance to win the Ocelot R88

Squeeze into your tightest race suit and strut confidently through the lobby of The Diamond Casino & Resort in the direction of the Lucky Wheel.

In addition to cash, clothing, RP, and all sorts of mystery prizes, you could win the Ocelot R88. That way, you can cosplay as a racecar driver and break every local road law. What could possibly go wrong?

Discounts

Beyond the track, auto dealerships across the greater Los Santos area are liquidating some of their more unique and dangerous inventory – you know, just to stir the pot a little. Plus a range of vehicles, real estate, refurbishments and customizations are also on sale.

And if you’ve been playing the past two weeks already and received those bonuses – make sure to keep the streak alive this week and next in order to earn an extra windfall next week and bonuses totaling GTA$1,000,000.

You can also still get a rebate on the base purchase price of the Pixel Pete’s Arcade property plus special discounts on the Declasse Mamba roadster (70% off) and the V-65 Molotok plane (80% off).

Defintiely been worse weeks. Open wheel races are generally fun (for me) so I'll be playing them for sure. Might also invite randoms into ceo for once and help em out

Here he comes! Here coems Speed Racer!

He's a demon on wheels!

Oh, not that kind of speed week. Oh well. Nice with more money from VIP work. I bet a lot of people will utilize their armoured boxvilles.

FREE vehicles? Sounds awesome, but where on earth are us crusties supposed to store them? Pointless, unless you really need an extra chest of drawers on wheels, or am I thinking of the Nagasaki Stryder?

2X VIP work and 3X salaries could be fun for an hour or two, but it's time to take a week off and catch up with other things I think.

You know you're talking to somebody outside of the punk/metal scene when "crustie" isn't in reference to anarchist drug users.

Free Hakuchou? Eh, alright - one of those 'really ought to get one eventually' vehicles, so can't turn my nose up at a bargain like that. Same for the Hot Rod Blazer - it's daft, but I can shove it into my 'rods & customs' garage for giggles, and it'll be fun to mess around with. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They’re cancer in public lobbies, though. They’re only somewhat fun when done with friends.

Free vehicles, nice! I never owned the toaster bike but can't say no to free!

Event week itself is still a steaming turd though

The free stuff are a nice surprise, I'll claim the Raptor & Hakuchou when I get a chance.

I made about 250k selling my raptor and getting a free one on my secondary.

Made around 700k selling my molotok and rebuying it and I think about 350k doing the same with the mamba.

thanks for the 1.3m gift rockstar.

i won the podium car too saving me 3.5m...I now can officially say I own all vehicles in all variants again. 😎

except for the arena war unlocks obviously 😠

It's good to have a quiet week so I can relearn not to expect every vehicle to jump in the air or boost.

Arena War gets you like that after a heavy week. You forget how to drive anything else.

I love x2 on OWR, because provided I can get through the pack I can dominate the race and get an easy payout.

I have low expectations now, so I enjoy the Open Wheel Races. If I make it around the first turn without being obliterated, then I can believe I’m in with a chance. All I have to do then is run the gauntlet of no-back-tyre-arse-draggers, blockers, rear-end shunters, wrong way drivers and other incompetents and I’m home free.

This is the very reason why I avoid them at all costs, even if they are double, or even triple, pay. Not worth the hassle and stress. You can try to avoid them, but you're eventually gonna get hit at one point, and that alone can be enough to cost you the race.

And then, of course, you have catchup and all of that nonsense. If it's non-contact, I'll participate. Otherwise, it's only something I'll ever do with friends.

When the Open Wheel Races finally come to the Creator, it would be nice to think that Body Damage and Tyre Wear would be selectable options for the race, but I wouldn't bet my house on it.

I could handle having to pit for new tyres, but the body damage thing is just insane in a game like GTA Online. I don't know what they thought would happen. It goes back to this image I have of Rockstar's developers testing these things on a LAN, and all playing fair and nice with each other. Then expecting the great unwashed to play like this with other anonymous randoms on the interweb.

Never gonna happen.

The sad truth is that every game made where you can race cars online you get the same idiots.

I hosted a few races the other night, I kinda like the tyre wear and damage it adds a little strategy. And I like the idea of being penalised for not making the corner and wallriding for example, and having to look after your car a bit.

Which would be great if everyone raced like me and avoided contact, but as you guys say this is GTA on the first race 3 of the 9 drivers after realising they were not going to keep up decide to drive backwards.

The rest of the races were done in non contact, until the last race,  only people who wanted to race were left in the lobby and we had a good race, with good overtaking that we knew would not result in getting rammed off on the very next corner or pitted once we were 3/4 of the way past a competitor.

Ha ha after the first race 2 of the idiots were still in the lobby I kicked one and the other guy asks why I kicked his mate, I said "do not worry your joining him"

At least catch up is off as defult.

I don’t know what it is with most of them. There seems to be this kind of lack of basic understanding that if you don’t slow down and turn the car, it isn’t going to go around the corner. The amount of cars that just ram straight into the barrier at every turn is comical.

I’m quite happy with the fact most players “drive” like that on premium races as it means I can pull away from them and they can’t use my slipstream.

Have you ever watched with fascination when it spectates after you’ve finished and you see the level of driving your average gta player has? 😂

It’s absolutely tragic isn’t it? I never understand how some of them have lost their rear tyres after just one or two laps?

Yeah, I hate them being behind me, because I am forced to dive into every turn to avoid them rear ending my car. You can almost feel their total astonishment when you pass them and boost out of the way whilst they crash into another barrier.

Honestly I’ve never tried open wheel as I know how gta racers are...I one the cars on both my characters and love driving them but I don’t want to deal with that clusterf*ck and I have almost 2600 wins in racing in general.

I love premium races :)

it’s rare someone better than me is in there...and when there is we normally have a nice chat after.

I've never thought of owning the open wheelers as a priority or must have. Won the r88 on the casino wheel and my God it's awesome. The steering and the sound. It does take some getting used to and the same happens when you leave it for a normal car. Going from the r88 to the Monroe was weird. Benefits of leaving the game, discovering all the dlc content and not getting bored as easily.

Max it out at Los Santos Customs, then take it racing.
