No one ever accepts posse invites (xbox)

I'm level 125 give or take, and level 20 in all roles. I have all the money and gold I'll need for several updates. Most of my friends just don't play anymore so I have been setting my posse to "open" with a 7 man camp. It's been weeks and no one ever randomly joins. So I just started inviting random people to see what would happen.

I have a large trader delivery waiting to go and I have a full stock of moonshine ready to sell too. Over the past week I have invited no less than 100 people of all levels to my posse. All they would have to do is ride along and get paid. No one ever joins. Sure I could send them a message first but blah....I don't get it.

I guess my next step will be just joining other random posses to see what happens.

I've joined other posses (and still do) with mixed results. Some work out well and end up having a lot of fun, others will just stand around and admire the scenery. The last one I joined I was the only one that helped him guard his wagon on a long distance trader run. The rest were barely in the same time zone, I guess hunting, fishing, collecting etc. But my favorite is the posse that kicked and opened fire on me as soon as I arrived.

I think the problem right now we're running out of things to do and we're already gold and cash rich so maybe the incentive isn't there. The few I know personally have also quit but I'm still surprised that most players don't want to posse up. It can make things a little more interesting.

A lot of the time invites come at the wrong time for me to accept. I’m either riding back to camp with a perfect carcass or about to glitch a solo lobby for a delivery. Of the times I’ve accepted there’s only been two that have engaged in activities. I think you’ll be best off messaging people before inviting as a lot will be sick of time wasters.

Joining random posses usually never works out. A lot of the time posses are running but the aren't doing anything in particular. You join and end up just aimlessly wandering around. It's been a long time since I tried joining one and my posse is always set to private because they would quickly become irritating and get in the way.

RDO is a bit like GTAO, it has some of the worst matchmaking and grouping up features of any online game.

It still boggles my mind that the game doesn't have a way for me to group up with others to do stuff like legendary bounties.

I tend to be a loner myself so I don't really look to form or join posses. There are a few people that I have friended and when they need someone to help complete one of the dailies that requires a party, I usually get an invite. I usually accept the invite, just for the variety.

Though most of the people I've friended have been from result of solo lobbies, recently I've been getting invites from friends that are doing long distance deliveries in regular lobbies and they want back up, something I don't really understand. But I usually play along when I'm invited.

That's pretty much all I would need any more help for. The dailies when you need 3 people or more like multiple kills in 5 second in posse infighting. I'm not keen on adding too many friends and always keep it to a small number so I don't get people randomly joining on me. But what would be useful would be a couple of tame friends who would be happy with nothing more than mutually using each for the odd daily once in a while.

I don't want people in my posse to grind out cash or levels, just have a few people to hangout with and maybe start a war in van horn or something. We once took over the lighthouse and had waves and waves of lawmen trying to storm it after we sniped a few. After a while a few players tried to run us out too... it was a blast.

That's the kind of free roam posse activity I love.

Or just roam through St Denis on foot killing every NPC we seen until a war breaks out.

You need to go into your members tab and remove the randos that have joined...if you are maxed out, others cannot join you.

There was a bug that had infected some including me, that said everyone was busy in the lobby, but it was fixed for me around December update.

I invite the lobby for dailies on xb...85% of the time someone will join my posse or come to my shack.  You have to be kindve quick to start the daily because alot of people are just checking out what it does.  You lose your camp, shack, and cannot start things when you are in a posse.  If you want people to stay without having to directly converse with people, invite the lobby then run a bounty when some one joins you.  Usually people will stick with you if do jobs they can get paid on, and they will eventually help you.

BUT THE BENZ

on PS4 here, kind of sitting in the same boat (no crew to play) and I second the OP, the willingness to accept a posse invite is 1, on a good day maybe 2 out of 10, for seemingly everyone, from rank 5 to 500!

that one time right when the dailies flipped and it said HERB PICKIN CONTEST...I sent out invites and ONE dude accepted. that was pretty cool, but it only happened once

It would be great to have some way to see what players spend the most time doing or what the posse leader plans to do while in the posse. To be able to go down the list and invite the players who spend a lot of time bounty hunting for instance.

As for me, I've only joined other posses a couple times and it got boring fast (running bounty missions over and over again gets old quick). Most of the time when I log on I have a specific plan in mine for my sessions and prefer to do things my own way.

It's one of the reasons why I wanted the PC version, for text chat, so people could communicate there to ask if anyone is up for bounties, missions etc. PC in the end doesn't have it, cause R* disabled it for some reason.

RDO has basically no way for players to actively communication with each other in-game which in 2020 is kinda embarrassing tbh. Especially when you look at the ping systems and things like that recently, communication in game without a mic or even text chat has become a lot easier and better.

others will just stand around

The best posse leaders are the ones that keep the posse busy.

I don't mean do a delivery then stand around and wait for fkn moonshine to finish.

Most public posses I've joined do nothing but stand around.

The "Do Nothing Gang." LoL

I'm right at rank 700. You see me and want me in your posse, send me a message and ask me if I'd like to play missions or whatever else you plan on doing. If I like what you're doing I'll join.

As this topic is about the posse inviting, figured I'd ask.

Can we disable the notification when folk do send invites?

I see plenty of those or shack invites etc and I've no interest in joining any, lol.

Don't get me wrong, I am a helpful person in general, and if any of the regulars here of folk on my friends list ask for a hand, I'm glad to help out. But when it comes to randoms, I don't trust anyone and actively avoid contact entirely, lol. Too many just want to go off shooting the place up or pick fights with players, or launch 'far' sales of which there is no chance I'll do anything that flags me up on the map for others to come at me.

As I said, I like to think I am a helpful guy, in GTA:O I help many or relish some co-op gaming. But in GTA:O, we can without any other f*cker screwing around, or if when I go on call and it goes tits up, I'm on passive or get put back in my delightful invite only lobby so never get any if the bullsh*t that often follows.

I don't even do the story missions or any freemode missions in this game. I enjoy lone wolfing it or hanging in a very small group at best, pretty much just wandering the area I spawn into that session and look for a few collectibles or a bit of peaceful fishing or hunting really and if a random does show up on the map, I head in a different direction or if they follow me, bust out into the main loading screen and go to a new part of the map.

This 'one size fits all' lobby is why I can only do an hour/90 mins of this game in at any one time. It really kills my immersion and breaks the game I want too much, although I'm past caring about changes or lobby choice coming now. This game just hasn't and won't have the magic and flexibility that GTA:O has for all the years it has.

Another thing is, a lot of people just have an automatic NOPE reaction to blind invitations.  Thing is, there isn't any CHAT in RDO, so every invitation is blind.

When I last had nobody online but needed posse members for a daily challenge I renamed my posse to "open 4 infighting" before sending the invites.

You might try "Trader sale" or whatever as a posse name to save you from messaging the lobby.

"xX N00B Xx invited you to Trader Sale posse" might appeal to more.

When I have needed posse members for dailies I always do this and it has worked well we for me.  "I'll change the name to "Posse Race"  "Herb Picking" etc and I will get one or two players that will join.  I start up what up the race/picking contest or what ever it is an let them win, say thank you and usually it's adios on our separate ways.

  • 2 weeks later...
Buddy Hightower

I finally had someone join!! lol It's been about 3 weeks since I posted this thread...

I was in Valentine selling some meat and I noticed someone joined my posse. I looked at the posse members and saw he was level 26 and then looked at map and saw him near Blackwater. I didn't know what to do, so I just started a legendary bounty to see how things go. I picked my favorite one - the girl in Saint Denis that has a bunch of clones and you have to find the right one to catch.

Long story short - I cause us to fail the mission twice and he leaves.... lol

My controller came unplugged during the shootout - twice, and I died twice.

Personally i only help and join players which i'm seeing doing things such as Bounty Hunting, Moonshine or even hunting. (I'm usually around Blackwater, Valentine or Strawberry hunting or doing Bounties, so i see a lot of player activity).

I don't think the problem is the lack of chat, but the fact the RDRO in-game dosen't have a system which shows what activity the player/s is/are doing, GTAO at least signals if a players is doing something. (which is useful, but also a curse because of tryhards).

There was a time when the moonshine update got released and griefers used that bug in the moonshine bar when it was around and they could get "Free" kills since the bar was bugged and the other players became stuck and couldn't even access the player menu, a grade-a sh*tshow for players which were trying to help and make a small profit, some of my fellow friends stopped to accept invites, so this plus the crews aimed to grief and use exploits to trap or bring victims close to them are a problem which affects.

Also story missions payout is horrible, easier to a player make a solo hunt, missions, specialized role missions, to join others, no incentive to work together in a posse.

I feel you OP.

I'm flush on cash and routinely do large wag deliveries and dashboard to save my good and give the others 500cash.

I found more success getting people to join when I change posse name to something more obvious like trader delivery free cash.

I invite everyone under level 30. Made a lot of noobs very happy.

One bug I found is my perm posse is glitched and even set to open others trying to join have said it's set as closed. Even clearing out the randoms from the posse that arnt active right then still doesnt let people open join my posse could be you bugged like me.

If I open a temp posse and set to open randoms join almost instantly problem is its limited to 4 people total instead of 7.

I believe that joining random posses is often hit or miss. You join a posse, chances are good the leader isn't really doing anything to even warrant it such as hunting or just shooting peds in the middle of town. A lot of them leave you standing there twiddling your thumbs questioning yourself on whether you should stay or leave the posse and move on.

So this is a reoccurring statement I seem to be getting and I don't really understand it. I mean I hear what you guys are saying but not sure why it would matter. Those of you who feel this way make it seem like if you are in-game and not min-maxing every second of your time, that somehow you are wasting time. I understand people have things they are working on but I also see that everyone already has enough cash and gold for 10 more updates...

I guess what I am saying is that sometimes a posse is just for doing nothing or randomly doing anything - more like a social posse.

Communication is key here though, and the game makes that a bit harder compared to GTA where we can just pop a quick in game message explaining what the CEO/MC leader wants to do.

I do agree, sometimes it's just a social thing. But if you join a posse and wasn't looking to just shoot up the place, until you join, you just don't know what's to come. I know many here are rich but not all, and some prefer to just shoot up the place while on missions instead so they get a few bucks/drip of gold while doing that stuff too.

Some want to help or learn more about a role too, but if the leader isn't doing that stuff, joining is again a waste of time for that player. The list goes on as to what leaders and members looking want to do. Me personally, if a leader is looking to just cause a mess or sell business crap, I don't want any part of it, but if they're doing missions like LeClerk's, I'm a fan of PvE proper so would gladly, just every time I joined one, it's been freemode nonsense/targetting other players for a scrap or businesses, so I never bother anymore, lol.

Granted, I can't always mic up so that's one key communication method gone, and after too much abuse from twat's in online gaming as a whole, I only accept messages on PSN from known friends that are good players on my list. 🤣

I'm low level, and still haven't learning to do a lot. I've gotten posse invites, but I'm just really skeptical and I'm more focused on my grind.

I'm on PS4 and think invites would have some kinda pre-scripted the player should chose to do it with it.

I'm just socially shy, it's taken me a bit of nerve together to get to playing with strangers that I meet off tumblr. Although, I have allowed new players to join my posse if they seem to be tagging along with me but that is a rare occurrence.

But I think you are forgetting that there are so many morons playing the game that you wouldn't want to be anywhere near 95% of them. I've lost count of the number of times I've been attacked and got into a posse fight then messaged the leader afterwards asking what it was all about and for them to apologise saying it was a random in their posse that shot at me. And only last night we had a semi-random join the posse (a friend of a friend who was invited to the chat) while we were collecting. They were rank 150 but didn't seem to know one end of a horse from the other. They spent 2 minutes trying to take a shortcut and didn't seem to realise they were trying to go outside of the map. All they did was slow us down and get in the way. They wandered off into town for ten minutes to just to find themselves a new outfit. My posse stays locked and for a good reason.

Sense of entitlement? You mean I should force myself to play with people who I'm not compatible with and that will somehow make me a better person? Maybe you should start doing things in the game you would prefer not to just to show you don't feel entitled.

It's fine I don't take offence because your opinion doesn't matter to me. My posse will continue to stay locked and I'll continue to play how I want to.
