  1. 1. What map layout would you like to see in the next GTA ?

    • Island, just like the previous GTA titles

    • Landlocked (no shores, no boats)
      0
    • Coastline (has access to the sea, but is not surrounded by it)

Personally, I would love a complete landlocked map, what do you think ?

I like the feeling of being able to go to and explore every portion of the map you can see. With a landlocked map, it would annoy me that there's this portion of the map I can see but can't reach. So I'd prefer an island map.

A reasonably sized South Florida along with several island countries.

There's a current video where they say that the map is supposed to be 4 to 5 times the size of GTA V's map. GTA V was made for last gen consoles XBox 360'PS3. not current gen. With GTA 6 being made only for next gen XBox Series X/PS5 then the map should be HUGE. The countries could be unlocked or dlc over the first year or so. And they could load in separate. This game is apparently going to have to last us for 8 to 10 years. It needs to be huge.

I used to be a proponent of a landlocked map, but I took a liking to the ocean in GTA V since they added deadly sharks to it. And going boating has become a minor pastime of mine. So I voted for island.

How about unlimited land instead of unlimited ocean? Say the game is set in San Fierro-Las Venturas. On the western side, the map will be bordered by ocean, and from the northern, southern and eastern side, it will be bordered by an endless terrain (i.e. mountains, hills, forests, valleys, deserts) that is generated in real time. Thanks to next-gen's SSD technology, it now might be feasible to implement.

Love the landlock in RDR2, somehow they've managed to maintain an immersive feel even though it's enclosed. It's terrific open world design, but we are on horses, so that helps. Don't think landlock is an option with aircraft and vehicles that can launch 200 feet into the air off ramps. They figured that one out 20 years ago. Don't think it will change.

I'm hoping for a las ventures in gta 6 but to have las vegas positioned near an ocean wouldn't make much sense, thats why I would like to have a san diego with it too, I love the ability to go out to sea in GTA online to avoid everyone. A coastline gta would be nice, it also enable possible expansion

I think island (like the other gta games) would be better.

Nah islands lack immersion and don't give you the feelings that the map is part of something bigger. I think they could land lock the map on foot/car but beyond the boundaries could render rural plains that duplicate themselves over and over so you can fly still fly planes maybe, if that makes sense.

I'd prefer they just stick with the Island. Neither endless water or endless land really affects my immersion that much but I think endless water is easier to ignore and just focus on what actually is available to us.

I wouldn't mind just a whole lot of "open space", though. Maybe a giant forest off to the North, a desert to the West, and a mountain range in the East. Just unpopulated land with tons of roads for aimless driving and user created race tracks with some sort of barriers to prevent people from going too far on land and an invisible field that forces air vehicles to turn around.

It'll be an island. Unless it's a northwest city like Seattle, they'll probably stick to the tried and true formula for map design.
