I feel it would be the perfect time to remaster gta iv map and add it to the game as a separate map, but that would take them a lot of effort to their lazy asses so i dont see it happening.. they might just keep milking the cow

I don't know man. I feel like there's no way they're going to add an entirely new city to a decade old game when they could be adding it to GTA VI instead. But at the same time, what more can they do with this god forsaken map? I mean they pretty much have to at this point right? I swear to god I'm beginning to feel sick just looking at Los Santos now. I'm tired of pretending I'm breaking into Humane Labs for the first time on every Online mission. They must've reused that sh*tty interior at least twenty times at this point. It's a f*cking joke. And no way singleplayer DLC is ever coming since it's all been repurposed now. What's next? Another reskinned business? Another heist where Lester cracks lame jokes while we kill Merryweather goons for the umpteenth time? There's absolutely nothing left at this point. The current map simply wasn't made to last this long. It was designed only to accommodate the story missions and basic Online jobs. If they can't even give us a new city then I'm praying they at least upgrade the sh*tty Online character models.

I can't tell you how tired I am of seeing these two motherf*ckers. Everyone looks the exact same. They stand the exact same. They walk the exact same.

And worst of all they stand like this. Nobody f*cking stands like that in real life. With those sh*tty PS2 beard textures. And despite all of this I'm still holding out hope they'll surprise us with this new version. The fact that it's taking them an entire year is a positive sign at least. And if they can somehow get rid of the 3 hour loading screens when you enter an interior the game might finally become playable.

I think I speak for many others that we'd rather see GTA IV/EFLC get "remastered", but sadly that's not going to happen.

I sincerely doubt it. Rockstar ignored singleplayer for all these years, the jump for the next generation is for the sole purpose of bloating GTAO with even more obnoxious and explosive content.

No. Anyone trying to convince themselves the new version will have any substantial additions is just coping. They're stuck on the 'bargaining' stage.

Apparently Take-Two shutdown yet another Liberty City conversion project for GTA V just a few weeks ago. There has to be a reason for it. Why would they be so set on protecting that map? They haven't given one sh*t about Vice City or San Fierro being ported.

Take-Two also shutdown a Red Dead Redemption map mod for GTA V in April 2017, a year and a half before Red Dead Redemption II's release. What does this mean? Absolutely nothing. It's not unknown for companies to shut down modding projects, and it's just such a shame that Take-Two are part of it. I understand many people are disappointed in Rockstar's decision to port GTA V again and want to try and come up with a just reason why one of their favourite game companies would start milking the cow dry once more and have no love for their other IPs, but there's nothing to suggest major significant improvements. Rockstar have become a victim of their own success.

They led us on about a SP story DLC back in 2014, which obviously never happened. So no.

I believe that there's actually a mod to add the LC map from IV into V, though of course there's some ethical/copyright issues with just adding assets like that. If you don't mind, definitely check that out. Maybe R* could do something similar? I would think that since they have the original assets for IV maybe they could (with some effort) add it into V. Then again, I fear the PS5 version won't really add much in the way of content..

I mean a huge portion of the original RDR map was being remastered for their next game at the time, so shutting down that project made sense for them. I have a feeling the same thing is happening here. Especially now that they've announced GTA Online will be receiving its biggest update ever in an entirely new location.

That's just a marketing ploy. There is no evidence that this entirely new location will be a map expansion. What this will likely be is the Mile High Club building finally opening, or maybe a small heist in North Yankton where you otherwise cannot access outside missions. To be expanding the map is quite a big thing to keep secret. Also, I don't see how shutting down a project like RDR's map in GTA V made sense since it wouldn't have taken away from the game experience. The more likely reality is that Take-Two and Rockstar have decided to stop supporting the modding community and are milking what they can from GTA V.

Highly unlikely that they'll invest so much time and money to add a major update to a 7-year-old game, so I wouldn't keep any hopes up for the PS5 edition.

"I don't know man. I feel like there's no way they're going to add an entirely new city"

Nah, they're lazy. GTA Online is a punk-ass joke. Rockstar cleverly realized it's a very effective way of milking players and that's exactly what they've been doing. GTA has taken a U-turn, it has lost its integrity, it's turned into a Fortnite-like sh*tfest. From a marketing standpoint it's a huge win for Rockstar Games. That's the reason why they won't change their ways. They'll keep on milking players until they can. This new "expanded and enhanced" version will most likely be an Ultra PC Preset for consoles with an FPS cap of 60 or higher and a new island or interior, which they won't put much work and effort into. Some new sh*tty heists will take place in there and that's it. I'm starting to doubt we'll ever see GTA6 because why - why would Rockstar Games bother making a new game seeing as they're doing just fine (financially) milking people. GTA6 will be like Half-Life 3. It'll forever be 2013's Los Santos.

"And if they can somehow get rid of the 3 hour loading screens when you enter an interior the game might finally become playable."

No, they won't get rid of the 3-hour loading screens as it's meant to be part of the GTA Online experience. Just kidding. They can't. They're not good enough to solve that issue. Sad but true.

"And despite all of this I'm still holding out hope they'll surprise us with this new version. "

Yeah they'll surprise us alright, ... with stability issues and bugs.

I'm pissed.

In all honesty, you guys are probably right on this  - chances are it'll be another half-assed sh*tshow from Rockstar. I just have a really good feeling about it my dudes. I'm gonna try to be positive on here for once.

The thing that has me second guessing this is how Take-Two has yet to go after any other map projects apart from those two.

Like even this project got a sh*t ton of attention from huge news outlets a few months back and yet nothing happened to it. It could just be a coincidence but I'm willing to roll the dice on this.

If they'd add anything new to the map imo. They'd add Anaheim and Orange County along with a Disneyland parody. Orange County is pretty similar visually to Los Angeles pretty much all of Southern california maybe some small minor stuff like neighborhoods and the street layout also Orange County is a bit more conservative than LA so you'd have different peds there a lot more "Karens" but that's about it.

In case you don't know Orange County is a lot more of this

Rockstar could easily get away with reusing some of the same assets and call it a map expansion. The Disneyland parody, Knott's Berry farm would be the main attractions.

Don't be ridicilous. They never add a new city to 7-8 year old game.  They need to remaster lc and upgrade to 2020. Also design interiors, radio stations. It's not that easy.

They already have been working on remastering it since about 3 years ago. 80% of the job is already done. They would only need to tweak small details before a potential release.

From trusted sources. It was confirmed back in 2017 that Rockstar was remastering and updating GTA 4 for the 10 yr anniversary on next gen consoles and a certain photo was laked that was not from any current enhancer mods. Some reason rockstar took a break from that project and many believed they were looking at expanding online. They had roughly about 80% done back then and that was 2/3 years ago so by now would have been enough time to refine what they were working on. People love to forget that the ultimate goal for the Grand Theft Auto Series was to combine all maps for a playable open world. Cease-n-Desist orders have been given to multiple mod designers that were attempting to create Liberty City mods quite recently. And with the introduction that GTA: Online will be standalone on PS5 and Xbox, this gives a big hint that Rockstar may be wanting to continue that plan and expand Online. Liberty City would be the first obvious expansion because it is already HD era. Then which ever map they are working on now for GTA 6 would be added respectfully when that title is released sometime in the next 2/3/4 years. Adding a LC map expansion would also increase Shark Card sales which would make TK2 Interactive shareholders happy and give them more time to work on GTA 6 while everyone is playing on the "new" map expansion.
