Banks - Can I or can't I?

Recently gotten RDR2 and I'm confused over robbing banks.

 

Can I rob a bank, by myself, in offline single player free-roam - yes or no?? 

 

I've tried googling this and lots of places say yes you now can (seems you couldn't previously), but no matter what I do, it doesn't work? 

 

If I go up to the teller and hold down the conversation options trigger.. it has the option to rob, but it's blanked out and I can't press it? Pulling a gun, either by doing it manually or with the prompt in convo options) doesn't work.

 

No matter what I try, day or night, it doesn't let me Rob a bank by myself - but I should be able to apparently?? 

 

Any help please? Playing on XB1 if that makes any difference.

No you can't. As soon as I aim the gun Arthur attempts to rob the Bank Teller, who then always cowers behind the desk. There is always a lawman in the bank too, and apparently you do get a 35 dollar bounty for the attempt, quite a bit more than for a regular robbery

Yeah, it is a shame you can't really rob banks and stuff on your own, would of been fun
