Anywhere USA
There's no section for it, so uh VenusianDream
billiejoearmstrong8
Unfortunately no one even discusses Red Dead Redemption, despite it having a section. Let alone Red Dead Revolver. So I would guess having a thread here and hoping someone who's played it sees it is your best bet. KGBeast
What are you saying? Take off your pants, cowboy. Let's talk (about Revolver). Seriously though, what's on your mind?
VenusianDream
This should be the topic about the discussion of Red Dead Revolver. But I've never actually played the game myself. How good is it compared to it's successors? Is Red Harlow a good protagonist? Is it canon to Red Dead Redemption or is it just a seperate wild west tale? Is it still a fun game, worthy of playing in 2020? Mr. Bogey

Lemoyne outlaw
here is a thread for red dead revolver. its in the rockstar games section on this forum. although it is rarely used so i doubt many people see it or remember it exists. here is the link. 23 hours ago, VenusianDream said: How good is it compared to it's successors? Is it still a fun game, worthy of playing in 2020? i recently beat the game for the first time. i felt mixed about the game. its fun but its nowhere near the awesomeness that the redemption series is. its not open world. and the graphics are not very good. the story was decent at best. its just a typical revenge and bounty hunting story. there are some cool characters. jack swift is my favorite. but red harlow is not a great protagonist. he reminded me of claude from gta 3. although red does talk. its very rare. and he is not very interesting. i would say that i like him as a protag more than jack. but not much more. also i guess i should note that there are multiple playable characters in the story. but red is the main one. the gunplay is ok. but nothing special. there are also a lot of boss fights too. and duels. some of them were hard. but nothing too bad. there is also a multiplayer. but not an online one. if you had people at your house they could play with you. but i mostly just use it to fight bots in my favorite locations. overall i would recommend the game. its cheap and it was fun to play the original. just dont go into it thinking its a ps2 version of rdr2. Most of this is completely subjective, no one can decide for you whether a game is good or worth playing. You also can't really compare this to Redemption because it's a completely different game. It's good but it's not good in the same ways Redemption is. Almost everything that makes Redemption what it is was present in Revolver to some degree. Wide weapon choice, dead eye, animals that can be ridden, duels, etc. Some things frankly were better in Revolver. The duels were the best in the series for instance. There were multiple characters who each have their own dead eye abilities rather than dead eye being only bullet time. There's a 300+ page journal you can unlock with lots of info on the characters and places, an idea they brought back in RDRII. A full multiplayer mode with something like 50 characters you can play. Multiple difficulties and game modes. For what it is, it's honestly a great game. Red is a good protagonist. I don't know what the fascination with protags who never stop running their mouths is. I'd much rather have a strong stoic character who expresses themselves through actions. In certain ways he's similar to John, an Eastwood style 'dark cowboy'. Revolver is not directly canon to Redemption. There are times in Redemption where people at campfires talk about characters from Revolver, but there are conflicts, like the timelines not matching. One guy will say he recently ran from a fight with Bad Bessie, an outlaw that Red kills in Revolver, but since Revolver takes place not long after the civil war, she would have been dead for 30+ years by the time Redemption takes place. So the references are basically just easter eggs. Redemption is a new universe, like the move from GTA III to GTA IV. I would say a good game is a good game and worth playing no matter what year it is. I'm not really a fan of the mentality that only newer games are good. In reality most new games suck compared to what came before. I've always felt that if you want to be a fan of a series, experience the whole series and see where it started instead of just playing what happened to be released recently. I see people say that they can't play older games because they're too hard or they aren't used to older controls and design. Well that's not a problem with a game, that's a problem with people and their unwillingness to challenge themselves and learn something. I see this game as an essential part of the series, I mean Red's name is part of the title of all three games, and it's a shame that people choose to overlook it.
