Also Chris being an antagonist is actually a cool idea, no more Mr. Boulder Guy. Also on the discussion regarding the POV, I liked RE7 first person style and I think it will translate well into RE8. Should also note that Item Management in this title is a cross between 4 and 7, with Attache Cases making a return. There is also Lei, a currency from Romania, that we will be able to use. Everything seems to be bigger (boulder punching..) faster and stronger these days. I miss the mystery. The puzzles. Don't get me wrong. Perfect hour to release a horror game. RE7 was the first RE game I liked, and this one looks like it is in the same direction...so I'm looking forward to it. I've been trying to be less frivolous with my video game spending and was going to hold on on this. Yeah right, pre-ordered it last night. I’ve actually been watching a lot of gameplay of Village on YouTube and I’m not really concerned about spoilers. If anything it just makes me want to play it more lol. Apart from the obvious RE4 nods I just love how it’s technically set in 2021 yet it feels like a love letter to gothic horror of the late 19th/early 20th century pretty much how RE7 was to 70s/80s slashers. If I get this it’ll definitely be on PS5 as I think it’ll pop in glorious 4K. Ethan feels more human this time and boy Capcom loves to torture this man, enemies are a bit bullet sponge, it seems that the amazing enemy physics and dismemberments from 7 and 2Remake are not returning, I've been noticing this ever since 3Remake. Is this The Guy? Posted May 7, 2021 Share Posted May 7, 2021 Well damn. I got about an hour or two in the game, got stuck in the village for a bit, then made it to the merchant. Went to collect the pre order stuff and when I went to collect the mr everywhere charm the game crashed, then my system crashed. The system booted back up in safe mode but was unable to restart so I had to reinitialize. Must have been a little bit of horror added into my pre order experience lol. trip Posted May 8, 2021 Share Posted May 8, 2021 So I waited until it was nice and dark around here and then I was like "I'm not sure I can sink into a game right now". Then I fired it up. I didn't even realize that a few hours had disappeared. Good time. I love a game that feels like I'm in a movie... The transition from game play to scriped scenes is seamless. I'm playing on a series x, but I suspect the graphics are sweet across all platforms. We are now spoiled when it comes to graphics in games...and I'm not complaining. I'm enjoying all the other humans around. Not just another lonely horror game. Supposed to be a rainy weekend here. Yay! I haven't played Village yet, but I know exactly what you mean by this statement, and I agree with it 100%. For me, the inclusion of other sane humans always makes me feel somewhat comforted and secure when playing a horror. Then, when you have to set off again on your own, it relights the fire of fear and anxiety about leaving the safety of company behind. It creates great pacing for me going to and from safety to potential danger. Same as the little save spots in RE7 like the trailer/caravan, you felt safe there, you were comforted by the knowledge you wouldn't be attacked, then when you leave its hell again. This is another reason I love Alan Wake so much. Posted May 18, 2021 Share Posted May 18, 2021 Looking to do a speed run soon and eventually try the melee only run but man I’m on my fourth play through right now and I still get lost. Been working on challenges and have done a lot so far. Running away from Lady Dimetrescu through her castle while trying to find and shoot out all her windows on hardcore mode gets pretty intense. So far I got the Syg shotgun and dragoon with infinite ammo and having a blast there’s so much weapons to chose from. I love this game! LittleJesus Posted May 18, 2021 Share Posted May 18, 2021 I'm already on my 4th run doing the knife only. - 1st run took me about eleven hours on standard. - 2nd run on Village of Shadows about 9 hours (a certain boss fight made me rage quit a few times). - 3rd was a speedrun on easy plus no crafting, no use of inventory and no health items... finished it under 2 hours 30 minutes.
