Standalone GTA Online Launching on PS5 in 2021

Admitted, the scope of their games nowadays is nowhere near as small as it was back then(which also wasn't small at all, I might add), but it doesn't excuse their leniency in starting the development of VI.

 

Also, I don't buy into the theory that VI just got started to be produced recently, it's just way too uncharacteristic of them to be this much slow.

 

I understand RDR2 taking a huge part of the development team and resources, but the basic ground of VI should be ready already(as is, the storylines, location and basic map geographic, art direction, VA casting, etc...).

Man.. can we just chill? im not a rockstar fanboy or something else but if gta 6 would take that long time to develp, it must be the best game and the best of every aspect.. man.. ikr rockstar was greedy as hell but cmon.. just chill.. ik gta 6 would be wonderful

Surely it opens that question up, IMHO...

I believe this is where they're headed. Transition the focus of the story to our character's life and eventually turn online into a world of multiple cities we can travel to via airport.

The problem is with them doing this there is actually no point. This game has been played out. They cannot even be bothered to fix the bugs or sh*t servers yet want us to fork out another 60 quid for a game that is 7 years old that will look a tiny bit nicer to look out. At least when people made the move to this gen from last gen they added first person mode. Which was new. They're is nothing they can really add to this game.  They need to stop kicking a dead horse

Bad thing is that regardless of the amount of complaints, this game is still going to fly off the shelves. They know this and it’s why they are doing it.

If it gets a re-release for PC that has official VR support (even if only some gamemodes?) i will spend money on it, if not i couldn't care less

My hopes (at least some of the following would be nice):

- Liberty City via flight / separate world-space

- 60fps

- 4k textures

- Mesh overhaul for the female clothing that was lazily ported from male meshes

- Clothes / hair physics

- Overhauls on most cars (better customization, paint colours and finishes, drop tops, updated rims etc)

- Character transfer

- Singleplayer levels of detail and clutter

- Animals

- Increased traffic and npc count to bring life to the online

- RDR2's engine

- Better gunplay (more realistic)

 

My actual expectations:

- 60fps or 4k texture overhaul, one or the other, not both

- A few little unique free items

- Returning player discounts

- Increased traffic and npcs

- Increased draw distance

- Character transfer

If 2020 is teaching us anything positive, it's that we need to try harder to see other people's points of view. It's all relative: if you started playing this game in 2013 and got however many years out of it, who's to say someone who just started playing yesterday isn't going to stick with it just as long? I hear there's a lot of stuff in that game.

 

When will it end? When Rockstar has something up and running that will make more money. Does the maintenance of GTA Online delay GTA VI from coming out? No, we already know Rockstar can multitask because they did RDR2. If anything, the GTAO revenue stream saves them from having to rush the next game. RDR2 was announced three years after GTAV. So who is surprised that GTA VI was not announced less than two years after RDR2 came out? Set your countdown for October 2021 to get an announcement, then maybe the game comes out in 2023. I don't think they're porting GTAV to PS5 to get less than two years out of it.

 

I think the GTA VI announcement happens shortly before the GTA Online launch of PS5, to get the most attention for both.

I didn't complete it on ps4 either because I'd heard that it had exactly the same missions as it did on ps3 and I already beat it on that console.

I wouldn't mind that to be honest, however rockstar would be foolish to not make another online goldmine with GTA VI. Unless they ported its map to GTAO but I feel that much like North Yankton being added to next gen consoles, porting or tweaking a new map to GTAO is more work and effort than they at rockstar would put in.

I would expect them to re-use GTA6 map/assets in some way. So if you buy GTA6 and already have GTO there will be some way to play online in that map - maybe you have to have a new character or you just transfer between them (e.g. take a flight etc).

 

While the story mode stuff of GTA games is popular, its online that makes the mega money now, they will want to capitalise on that when 6 comes out.

Lol. The whole reason to make a STAND-ALONE GTAO is to make it separate from the single player game. 
 

A new SP game means a new map for the online game. Many online players have zero interest in the story side anyways. 
 

To be honest though I’m not holding my breath for a new single player game anyways. People cannot handle satire these days and the game would have the Juggalos crying the blues b

No, it just means r* put too much man power on GTA5 and t2 doesn't wanna see profits drop whilst new games release on the new console. Rdr2 was supposed sustain some people, but look what happened there

It doesn't have much replay value. You can't even insure your cars in single player.

It's the only way to release GTA 6 without having it compete with Online.

I wouldn’t be shocked if whatever city Gta 6 is a free DLC And you just fly to it and you spawn there once you purchase an APT there, but how you choose your cars between cities who knows

Only for the PS5 players, Xbox folk will be charged again to play a game that really should just be backward compatible. And IMHO, as it's only free for the first 3 months, the majority of PS5 players will have to pay as most players won't be buying a new gen console straight away as it'll too expensive for a while too.

Well let's see here, what's my incentive to pay $500 on a new system? A then more than seven year old game running on an engine created over a decade ago? Yeah no. Other games that are slated to come out with the ps5? I didn't see anything that grabbed my interest so that's a no.

How many years have people been saying another city could be added? A lot of people said the same thing when V was ported to ps4 and here we are six years later with still the same old map. I guarantee that they won't add another city to V, even if it's online portion is spun off and they certainly won't go through the hassle of creating a new map, making new vehicle and pedestrian paths, recording new pedestrian dialog, or even just creating new missions for that map only release it for free as part of an update.

The thought of buying Gta0 is like paying money for these mobile freemium games that have restrictions on almost everything. I used to play CSR, a drag racing game, and your car would literally run out of gas if you played too much, parts and cars were a grind and some races would be extremely difficult to win when you progressed through the campaign.

 

 

Gta0 is the way that it is because it's technically a free add on. They can milk us however they like because we didn't pay for it, technically. Now, the thought that it's suddenly a 40 dollar game (mark my words), yet nothing will change, is laughable. Same predatory monetization, same sh*tty servers, same restrictions, same ol same ol.

When they say its free for 3 months, do they mean that we can claim it for free at any point within 3 months? Or do they mean it is free for 3 months, and you will be charged after?
