Standalone GTA Online Launching on PS5 in 2021

I agree with this and the entire post. First off consoles only last so long - I went through 3 PS2s over the years e.g. - they simply wear out. My kid and I had already agreed that VI coming out would be a good time to mothball the XB1 - it is an old machine as it is, living on borrowed time. For PS4 guys - it's as good a time as any to upgrade if you are able. the machine you're using won't last forever. Also as an older guy I assure you I'm more of a grinder-type - I will never purchase a shark card as I can see that is not looked upon highly around here and I totally agree with that perspective.

 

Equipment upgrade's a big reason I suppose I'm not as upset about this as many posting here. Upgrading equipment is a simple reality over time - I agree w/many who've already opined here that don't believe the VI release is related to any of this PS5 stuff. Sony wants to put out a new console - R* is accommodating them because VI isn't quite ready - and yes making some money in the process. Good for them AFAIC.

 

The point about "no new games" from R* - at least as far as their early prolific rate - is valid and undeniable. Same token - "online play" didn't exist during all this prolific creation. Argument can be made that many of those creative energies have been geared toward enhancing the online experience - and I appreciate the "current gen" version of V quite a bit as is - it is far upgraded from 360 even though it's the same game. I have faith that VI will happen and it will be a quality product as we've all come to expect. Just need to be patient in the meantime.

 

I realize that many are not as patient as I am and simply refuse to accept the "same" game after so long. I won't be able to change your mind on that. I just know quality when I see it and am willing to wait.

Man f*ck being patient, they’re deliberately milking this sh*t dry because it’s the most lucrative option for them at this point in time. They don’t care about anything else and the last thing they want is another game while this one is raking in cash. Why fix what’s (theoretically) not broken?? We won’t see a new gta until I’m about 30, and I was still in high school when V came out. Stop defending this nonsense PLEASE!!!

Hasn't Microsoft guaranteed all games on xbox one will be playable on the series x? If you have a digital copy of gta v on xbox one, it should work on the series x. Maybe that's why Only PS5 is getting a new version. There should just be a patch for xbox and pc.

If you want to keep playing GTAO then you have three options, you can either buy the re-remastered GTAV at sixty dollars, buy the standalone GTAO at a lower price (if that's what happens) or you can literally go f*ck yourself. Pick one. Those are your options. R* knows that PC players would most likely just pirate the new Online mode so they will get it for free.

Nobody is forced to buy GTA V for the third time. I won't. I will just get the Online digital version and I am happy with it.

We don't even know what kind of DLCs we will get with the NG.

Imagine GTA wouldn't have moved from PS3 to PS4. It would be dead by now or we would get "I am not a hipster" kind of updates.

Looking forward to NG GTA Online and also to GTA6. I am happy kids spend money on Shark Cards, giving R* the possibility and time to make the greatest GTA VI they can.

But we are, if we want to continue our GTAO adventure. With the systems being implemented by both Sony and Microsoft there is not one valid reason why we are being charged for either the full game and especially the standalone GTAO if that's the case. PC players won't be charged because they know it won't fly but f*ck the console players right in the arse. Yes, we could just play on PC but that's like using dynamite to get rid on an ants nest.

I think there is still the chance that we (owner of CG version) are not forced to pay for the NG version.

Even backwards compatibility coming to NG XBox and PS. We should get an update and that's it. Of course new player will just buy GTAV or get free Online Online version.

 

Also I think it will be a smart move from R* and Sony/MS to not charge CG owner as a big community will move to NG because of GTA and even more if they are not charged again.

 

Changing the topic. I forget that NG will support raytracing. Saw a mod with GTA V and raytracing, looked dope.

Agreed but what I am saying is that R* has console players over a barrel and I don't like the look of the massive tub of KY Jelly they just pulled out.

It is impossible to play any kind of multiplayer on pirated GTA, period. Any workarounds to make fivem work are unstable and short lived enough to be considered negligible. One can take a short peek of fivem on a cracked copy, but that's it. More chances playing legit and refunding.

Yeah, totally past caring what comes or what they do to balance anything. Nothing will get me back into public sessions and if invite only gets taken away on next gen, It'll be of no surprise to me either.

 

Like you, I just want my money to transfer so when I pop on for a lil' look see, I can just blast my cash in one last hurrah as I puss away this account, lol. 

 

I can only hope, like RDR2, that R* create an awesome story/map for VI. That's all I'm looking forward to now.

from my understanding the ps5 is much more powerful than the ps4

You’re probably right but the crushing disappointment I felt when I first saw it on Xbox one due to similar expectations to those you are exhibiting meant that it felt like that.

 

It does indeed make sense that due to the power of the new machines they can do all this stuff...why would they though unless they have to?

 

Id like everything opened up personally but that would be a lot of work for them...why not just rake in vast swathes of moulah for less work?

The difference from ps3 to ps4 is night and day. The difference from ps4/xbone to PC.... not so much. And that is essentially what's coming to ps5, the 5 year old PC version.

 

Singularly unimpressed by what R* has become during the lifespan of this game. Anyway back to pretending that "Everywhere" will be released before GTA6...
