RDR2 PC Patch - 1232.61 (09/06/2020)

[June 9, 2020) – General / Miscellaneous (PC)

 Stability

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when launching the game on certain hardware configurations
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when switching between output devices on system configurations with multiple graphics cards
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the game from launching on some system configurations that used a dedicated AMD graphics card alongside an unsupported Intel integrated graphics device
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the game from launching on some low-end system configurations when using DirectX 12
  • Fixed an issue with a memory leak when using DirectX 12, leading to increased RAM usage and potential crashes during extended game sessions
  • Fixed several random crashes that occurred during gameplay in Story Mode and Red Dead Online

Improvements and Bug Fixes

  • Added command line arguments allowing the player to limit processor threads/affinity when booting the game. Using both arguments in combination may increase performance and reduce stalls on some systems when third-party applications with significant CPU usage are running in the background
  • Fixed an issue with hardware detection that caused the ‘hardware/driver check’ startup message to display incorrectly when running on some systems
  • Fixed an issue with missing smoke effects on trains when the Particle Quality graphical setting was set to Ultra/High

Can someone check if the Emerald Ranch table is back?

This seems to be a random issue on all platforms so I imagine a patch for all platforms would be released for something like that. I'm glad they seem to be doing monthly-ish PC specific patches tbh. Haven't tested yet.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Graphics driver requirements have been changed.

They also fixed the invisible items at times in the gang’s camps. Sometimes camp chore items would be invisible in your hands (bucket of water and the hay stack).

Guess that means the last thing that needs fixing is Parallax Occlusion Mapping.

Vulkan is still miles better.

With the latest drivers, I lost around 20-30 FPS across all games, not just RDO. So steer clear if you're on 10xx cards.

Hmmm, maybe, maybe my game might run again after all thse weeks.

Fixed an issue with a memory leak when using DirectX 12, leading to increased RAM usage and potential crashes during extended game sessions

Maybe I can even run without memeory leak crashes. Think I was on Vulkan if I recall correctly.

Some important bug fixes, great to see.

Interesting command lines added, wonder in which cases it'd help.

still depends on the hardware configuration, no matter the fixes some may have better performance on vulkan, while others on dx12

How does the smoke look? Originally people were complaining about how the smoke looked so it was removed on ultra.

Rolled back to 445.87 and everything's fine. I was at the latest release previously.

-numCores=# (number of threads, decimal value)  4 cores, 8 threads.

So should be  -numCores=8.0  Right???!

-setSystemProcessorAffinity=# (CPU affinity mask, decimal value)   What to type here??!

The usecases for those commandlines is if you have a lot of stuff running in the background. Unless you're streaming or something you shouldn't have processor demanding stuff running anyway... I'm assuming this is Rockstar's way of trying to skip Windows' horrible scheduler.

Anyone with more than like 4 or 6 cores shouldn't need to use that at all tbh.

I had done this:
-numColors = 4.4
(4 cores and 4 threads)

But I don't know if it's correct; (

Definitely No!

-numCores= Here we need the number of the threads in decimal values, check how many threads you have. 4 cores with 8 threads, so should be:

-numCores=8

-setSystemProcessorAffinity= Here, Which processors/threads are allowed to run RDRII.exe and again should be:

-setSystemProcessorAffinity=8

Damn, R* didn't explain properly these command lines!

They did:

Quote
  • -numCores=# (number of threads, decimal value)

  • -setSystemProcessorAffinity=# (CPU affinity mask, decimal value)

Any of you intrepid patch installers noticed much difference in performance?

I see a lot of improvement with hardware accelerated gpu scheduling enabled with 451.22 developer driver.
