KGBeast
I honestly meant to post this well over a year ago, but it's no secret I've grown pretty jaded towards Rockstar and I ended up taking a long break from anything GTA related. I've been doing some playthroughs lately though and decided to get this sh*t together and post it finally. This is probably my favorite GTA experience. IV is my favorite game in the series hands down and TBOGT is my favorite part of IV hands down. It just clicked with me immediately. I love the whole style and vibe of this episode. IMO it's the most successful Rockstar has ever been at balancing substance and style in the series. And when researching this topic, I found a couple interesting things about the percentage structure in this game, one of which I have never seen ANYWHERE before. If you want to see that, skip down to the Activities section. Kind of validated the reason I started researching the percentage structure in each game in the series to begin with, to better understand the games and make the public knowledge of them more complete. So anyway let me quit blathering and jerkin my gherkin and get on with it. There are 25 story missions in TBOGT, worth 2.4% each for a total of 60%. Same value the story carries in IV, while TLAD was 65%. Technically there are 26 missions in the game, but you only get credit for 25. 'Blog This!' despite being listed as two missions in the phone menu, and both having their own mission objectives, counts as two parts of a single mission, much like 'Final Interview' and 'Out of the Closet' in IV. You only get percentage after dealing with the Celebinator. This list is the 'canonical' order, ie the order given in the phone replay menu, except I grouped '...Blog This!' with it's first part, in game it's listed after 'Boulevard Baby'. :25 Story Missions - 60%: 1 - I Luv LC 2 - Practice Swing 3 - Chinese Takeout 4 - Momma's Boy 5 - Corner Kids 6 - Clocking Off 7 - Sexy Time 8 - Kibbutz No. One 9 - Bang Bang 10 - Blog This! Parts 1 & 2 11 - High Dive 12 - Caught With Your Pants Down 13 - This Ain't Checkers 14 - No. 3 15 - Frosting on the Cake 16 - Boulevard Baby 17 - Not So Fast 18 - Ladie's Night 19 - Going Deep 20 - Dropping In 21 - In the Crosshairs 22 - For the Man Who Has Everything 23 - Ladies Half Price 24 - Party's Over 25 - Departure Time Strangers missions are worth 5% total, also like IV and TLAD, but since you have 3 sets here they're worth 1.67% (~1.666) each instead of 0.5% like in IV and 2.5% like in TLAD. :3 Strangers (5 missions total) - 5%: 1 - Daisy, 1 mission 2 - Margot, 2 missions 3 - Arnaud, 2 missions Seagulls are worth the same as Pigeons in IV, Seagulls in TLAD were ~3.333%. :1 set of 50 Seagulls - 2.5%: Here's where we get to something I have never seen anyone mention in the entire 10.5 years this game has been out. Since I've never one single time seen anyone say this, I have to assume I'm the only person outside of the dev team who knows it. That's probably not true, but still this is obscure, arcane, and downright esoteric GTA knowledge I'm about to drop on you. So if you're reading this on a day you haven't yet learned anything new no matter how trivial, you're in luck. You are required to dance at Bahama Mamas. It rewards percentage. Yes really. Every 100% list I have seen for TBOGT states that you only need to dance at Maisonette and Hercules to get % for the dancing activity, but nope, you actually have to dance at all 3 clubs to get %. People have overlooked this fact because the one and only time you're even able to dance at Mamas, you're required to do so to advance the story. And since most people don't dance at both of Tony's clubs until after they've beaten the story, it seems like only those two are required. If you want to check this, it's very easy to do so. Start a new game of TBOGT and complete the dancing activity at Maisonette and Hercules immediately after the intro mission. You'll see for yourself you gain no %. Then play through the story until you get to 'Boulevard Baby'. Go to Mamas and dance with Monique, then as soon as you get control of Luis back, before shooting your way out of the club, pause and check your stats. You'll see you just got your 1.43% for dancing mid-mission. Honestly blew my mind when I first observed this, and I tested it a few times to make absolutely sure. Anyway, there are 7 activities in the game that amount to 10% total, 1.43% each (~1.428571429) :7 Activities - 10%: 1 - Dance at Maisonette, Hercules, and Mamas 2 - Champagne Contest 3 - Pool 4 - Darts 5 - Air Hockey 6 - Golf 7 - Cage Fighting (6 rounds of 3, 18 total) For reference, Gang Wars in TLAD were worth ~3.333%. :1 set of 25 Drug Wars - 2.5%: Hangouts work the same here as TLAD since it's always done as a group rather than one on one, you just need to do each hangout activity once. The list is air hockey, darts, drinking, eating, golf, pool, and strip club. :1 set of Friend Activities - 5%: Club Management is the other thing that interests me here. You don't get % for each club management job, you get the 10% lump sum after doing all 8. If you look at the breakdowns for the other games, you'll find that this is the most valuable single objective in the entire series. 10% at once is just a monster chunk of that 100%. :1 set of 8 Club Management Jobs - 10%: Just for reference, in V you get one objective point for doing all 8 base jumps, and another point for doing all 5 heli jumps, but here there's no separation despite there being 5 each of 3 different kinds of jumps: target, vehicle, and heli. :1 set of 15 Base Jumps - 2.5%: And finally, street races in IV were 2% and bike races in TLAD were ~3.333%. Yadda yadda yadda. :1 set of 3 Triathlons - 2.5%: Summary 25 Story Missions 3 Strangers 1 set of 50 Seagulls 7 Activities 1 set of 25 Drug Wars 1 set of Friend Activities 1 set of 8 Management Jobs 1 set of 15 Base Jumps 1 set of 3 Triathlons 41 Total That's all folks. If you're not familiar with these breakdowns, you can find the others on their respective boards. I'll be posting one for V soon. You'll definitely want to check out the V breakdown when I post it, because I had to go very in depth with V to completely figure out the percentage structure. I have lots of good info on how the story works that never gets talked about. Everything from the real total mission count including optional missions, the different heist paths, repeats, etc. Which 69 missions reward %, which specific missions in each heist option reward %, which Strangers & Freaks missions for Frank reward %, the whole 9 yards. Not my favorite GTA, but one of the most interesting in this regard. I tried very hard to do this for Chinatown Wars and wasn't able to. That game provides % for every single objective, and there are many, so you get these teensy little amounts that are impossible to track with a rounded total. On top of that, things that should be worth the same aren't, story missions reward you totally different and seemingly random amounts of %. Eventually I gave up trying to track it and figure the numbers. I've seen this list posted a few places online, and it seems close, but it's just not possible to test and confirm it by playing the game. So if anyone has bothered to look at the source code and can confirm this or deconfirm it and provide accurate info for CW, I'm all ears. 58 main story missions - 41% 8 Random Characters with 14 missions - 9.56% 16 Odd Jobs - 4.37% 35 Rampages - 9.5% 34 Races - 9.28% 100 Security Cameras - 6.83% 30 Stunt Jumps - 4.1% 80 Drug Dealers - 5.46% 21 Safehouses - 4.3% 8 Dealing Rewards - 5.46% 2 Lion Statues - .14% PSP version complicates this further as it adds 5 new missions, 5 new Rampages, 3 new Riding Shotguns, and 4 new time trials.
