Recommended Posts

After playing RDR2, I really wanted to play the first game. I only have a pc and a PS4. So is it worth buying a ps3 for rdr1?

It depends on how much you enjoyed RDR2 I guess but I would say go for it, although I would recommend getting a cheap Xbox one if you can as that's the best way to play RDR.

I am a long term PC player and basically I bought PS4 to play RDR2. When it came out on PC I bought it too. Now on Epic store I got GTA5 for free. I played both games and they are awesome.

So I decided to buy PS3 just to play RDR1. And I did. I got it PS3 cheap (55 euro) and RDR for 10 euro and started to play. And I am very happy with it. The idea was a bit off but I am so happy I did. It is the only game I own on PS3 and it is worth it! Go for it!

I think RDR for 360 is backward compatible on Xbox One. But i don't know if the PS3 verson is backward compatible on PS4. Can anyone explain this more accurately.

LOL. We Brazilians envy how you North Americans and Europeans pay cheap for consoles and games. Here is aways a real investment to play games.  And no, it's not just a matter of currency value; even disregarding this, the difference is huge.

I feel you getting video games and consoles are more of a luxury than a commodity in brasil. Also import tax f*cks that up and usually depending on years. I know for a fact there is a big influx of Brazilian xbox 360 players I've played GTA IV with (shoutout to my bud @Cas2000San) and MP3.  I guess it would be a good option to know somebody in the states where they can buy the console for you and just get it shipped out there.

Plus even OG xbox PS2 Gamecube games are getting expensive now, check those eBay prices out. Disgusting.

No the RDR1 on PS3 isnt compatible on the PS4 sadly.

Depends on your hardware. RDR2 is running better in my case.

Yes.

If ever there was a game worthy alone to buy an old gen cheap console, RDR is one. GTA IV too. (I don't do PC gaming and am a Playstation chap so these 2 games and their fantastic DLC are the only reason I'd not sell my old PS3).

Red Dead Redemption is as near to a 10 out of 10 for me, RDR2 took it to 11 mind you. 🤣

...and I see you did, lol. Nice. Hope you enjoy it. :)

As someone who bought an Xbox 360 a couple of years ago and almost exclusively plays GTA IV and RDR1 on it, I agree! RDR1 is one of the greatest games I've ever played, certainly worth it. Very awesome to get to play the story in chronological order if OP has already played RDR2 as well.

One of the first things I did was jump back to RDR after completing RDR2, lol. These 2 games have a special place in my heart, with the first Redemption being a very eye opening game indeed. These and GTA's stories have served me so well.

RDR is already amazing in its own right but I love how RDR2, as a prequel, enriches the RDR story so much. Just great.

With a quirky/fun DLC too. As bored as I can be with zombies in media, Undead Nightmare is a good add on though. Back when R* did that stuff proper justice.

Yes! I cracked up playing it, what a twist. Perfect fun/tongue in cheek contrast to the main game's tone, it's great to experience the world and characters again in a totally different context. RDR and IV show the pinnacle of what can be achieved with DLC imo....shame it was a short lived thing due to online's popularity.

I had hoped RDR2 could have a spooky follow up too. That new map really lends itself to allsorts of ghouly shenanigans, the swamp area particularly I feel.

I know right? I feel like it's unlikely though. I guess maybe they included quite a lot of spooky stuff in the game itself partly to make up for a lack of spooky DLC lol. But it would still be really cool.

I feel ya. 97% of games and software in pre-2004 Russia were pirated. When your average monthly salary is 100-150 USD you aren't going to pay $199 for a copy of Windows and another $30 for a game.

I live in the UK now, but I still can't understand how can anyone splash that much out on a new console. But yeah, the second hand ones are dirt cheap, I got myself a PS2 with a full collection of GTAs a couple of years back for around $50.
