Complete N00b to GTAO - Some Questions

Recommended Posts

ChiroVette

Okay, if this is in the wrong place, please direct me to the right forum or section.

Now I have played GTA V extensively, both on the PS3 and the PC, both versions I own. My PC is showing its age, and I have a ton of mods installed, which would get me kicked, and I really don't want to be a little laggy online. Since GTA VI is likely not launching for probably a while, I might as well play GTAO. So I am thinking of waiting for a GTAV for PS4 sale and going online. But GTAO has been around for almost 7 years, and I would literally have to start from the ground up. I have some questions:

1. How do you start to build your character without interference from others? Is this even possible? I am not a competitive player. At least not yet! I have only done SP in most games, because I don't want to be griefed, hunted, and killed on sight, when I am this much of a n00b in the Online game. Also, I would rather spend my time grinding and making gains in money, businesses, luxury items without being always worried about much more skilled players than me making my life in the game a living hell. Maybe in the future, but not now.

2. I m watching all the Youtube videos of tips and tricks, what to buy, what not to buy, how to grind effectively for lots of money, without glitching that will get me banned. Anything else you guys suggest for when I buy the PS4 version? Where to start, what to do first, and that sort of thing?

Thanks so much all! I look forward to your responses! :)

Oh, and since I didn't say it above, I have ZERO interest in using real money to buy Shark Cards. If I buy a version of the game that miraculously bundles GTA Bucks with the game, and I'm not paying more for it (yeah, I know, good luck with  that right?) then that's fine. All donations gratefully accepted.

I made a solo money making guide for new and well set players in this forums if you haven't read it already and I've just updated it today.

Read the first and second spoiler section because it's mainly for new players and I suggest collect items and do treasure hunts in a invite only lobby. No Shark Cards needed and glitch free too.

More on the guide below.

Hope this helps.

Some ppl said we should buy warehouse (i saw once on yt, maybe it's one of above) and office at maze bank (free office). Anyway that's a good guide @xInfected_Virus

Anyway:

Becoming CEO which mean competitive with other player for briefcase (CMIIW).

Hesit need partner. And need good weapon and u should mastering headshot (npc's so tanky but headshot only need few bullets to blew theirs head).

Little advise from me: it's a wise to buy snacks or extra armor to help you survive on mission (especially heist)

My guide is best done in solo public lobbies so no one can come after you or so other CEOs can't interfere with you by starting their own Headhunter or Sightseer and Terrorbyte client job.

I mentioned that already in the guide for the original heist tips.

First, buy a shark card. You're going to need it to get started without having to spend 6 weeks grinding.

Second, buy a high-end apartment with a heist room.

Third, do the heists.

And go from there.

this should go here:

I would start out with some contact missions, where you don't have to rely on the incompetence of 3 randoms. The more difficult ones are locked behind high level, and you can replay the easy ones as much as you like.

I'm teaching him how to grind the game last night and the night before and gave him tips by playing with him on PS4. I'm having fun helping him grind his business and I gave him tips on how to do my solo money making guide and he's making good money with my help. Tonight, I'll guide him through the contact missions if he can come online.

It's honest advice. If I was trying to give bad advice, I'd suggest hacking the game for infinite money.

If you hadn't added that jab, I wouldn't be giving you sh*t over it.

I don't doubt your honesty, but I believe you didn't read the OP. He explicitely said no shark cards, yet it is the first thing you recommend. Therefore I find your advice bad.

The OP wants to build up his character in peace, without interference from other players, so I think he isn't interested in the OG heists, which he will probably need randoms for.

He wants peace so he should stick to Invite-only sessions, doing VIP work and contact missions that can be done solo, until he has the resources to go out in public sessions.

So, I missed one tiny detail.

I take offense at the "Bad advice" jab. If you hadn't added that, THIS would not be happening right now.

Tiny little detail, huh? Not only that, but who, in their right mind, would first recommend to someone that they should shell out more real money for a game they already paid real money for? Its ludicrous. I wouldn't give Rockstar ten cents for a Shark Card. I think the entire freemium business model is nothing more than highway robbery, made even worse by the fact that the player is first asked to buy the game, then spend more money on in-game widgets or in-game moneys. Thanks for your sincere  advice, but I'm a player, not a hapless f*cking victim of Take2's freemium thuggery.

Don't buy shark cards. Being a noob was the best time I had in this game, and building your character up the right way is way more rewarding then just buying your way to the top.

Right. Buying shark cards makes you a n00b forever because you skip the initial build of your character and working for your first money. You may never learn how to make money by actually playing the game, so what are you even playing for?

Getting something from nothing is a lot harder than getting something more from something.

I felt more accomplishment from setting up my first business with grinded cash from contact missions, than completing my car collection after I had all the businesses.

Plus there's plenty of ways to make money in this game than back in 2013 and they've added collectables and treasure hunts to earn extra money and they added plenty of businesses as well so plenty of sources of income.

Yes the first bit of advice that Prov gave you was pretty terrable, Shark card's are as you already know a bad idea.

But his 2nd and 3rd bits of advice are ok, certainly as it looks like you have multiple crew options (xinfected and gtaonlinegamer) playing with you now, you could attempt some heisting as he suggested.

I'm sure you could even be able to pull off a Mastermind after a few practice runs and Xinfected input a 12 million payout is a great start to anyone's GTA career, and a nice achievement to have at any level.

Hell if your on PC I could give you a hand to make up the 4some, I would quite enjoy doing the heists in order again.

Edit.

Just reread your original post you have moved from PC to PS4, missread that bit earlier so unfortunatly I can not help after all.

And it is a bit late now but if you were worried about mods you had installed on the PC version why did you not wipe it completely and reinstall the game fresh? This may have helped speed it up on your hardware as well.

But to be honest on PS4 you do not get modder's so your move to PS4 is probably a good idea anyway.

Awesome, if you haven't got the Criminal Mastermind yet, then I can help you get it, we just need one more player.

I find that with a reliable partner, the casino heist is the best return on time spent. We split the take and usually get $800-950k each. The preps and setups take about an hour for us. We do only sneaky and big con approaches on hard.

The bunker was our cash cow for a while.. buying supplies and selling full stocks in empty or near empty lobbies gives you $1mil for the sale. We've since shut down bunkers to avoid maintenance fees because the casino is just an ATM for us now.

Our nightclubs are also generating income and we sell those when they have several hundred dollars built up. They're running in the background when we do our casino work anyway.

Times are different from day 1 when we were grinding rooftop rumble and crystal clearout for chump change. Although there is rampant inflation in San Andreas, there are so many ways to make good money now.
