@Halal Cyborg where did I ever say I had a deep distrust for white people??? That would make me just as bad as the people who are oppressing us. I have white family members, such as my grandmothers sister and her family, and aside from that, I don’t think negatively of white people as a whole. I understand that the ones in the greater realm of power are obviously white men but I don’t have any fear, distrust or hatred of white people. That was definitely a silly ass reach. And I also know that you aren’t an African American so that’s all that I really need to know as far as your opinion goes. You f*cking a a brown girl doesn’t somehow make you “down” or whatever point you were trying to make.

This heavily suggested they’re being killed systematically and he didn’t disagree with me...killing people for no reason other than their race on mass is a genocide.

No, it doesn't. You just chose to interpret it that way because it gave you a convenient straw man to argue against.

I think that's more a case of "not dignifying obvious fallacies with a response" but I don't want to speak for him.

This is an enormous logical reach given the context and comments made.

I’m married to a Middle Eastern woman unsure why you need to be crude...I don’t give you a pass for it sorry I know you expect it.

If you’re unwilling to allow anyone other than African Americans an opinion then I have news for you you will get nowhere and alienate everyone else.

If you want to define people by their race then that’s also racist.

Who are the people that are systematically killing the elderly and paramedics if not just crazy racist people? Do you think entire institutions are doing this from the top down?

I'm unsure why you think your personal anecdotes and segues are of any particular relevance to the topic at hand. At best they're false analogies, at worst deliberate distractions.

You’re not even American so you have an outsiders perspective on what’s going all. All you’ve done is nitpick at what I’ve said and try to discredit what I’m sayin with irrelevant asides and putting words in my mouth. I never said genocide and Im sorry that you feel alienated on a topic that you have no personal knowledge on. Blacks are systematically mistreated but I wouldn’t call it a genocide because that would be dishonest and insensitive to those who’ve suffered that fate. That’s still not an excuse for you do try to discredit what I’m sayin as being an overreaction because it simply isn’t.

I have family in Washington and Seattle

We have racism here anyway and I remember the 2011 riots that turned into looting and fires https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Mark_Duggan

Thanks for admitting there’s no genocide though

The police are a major force to be reckoned with here. I live in the same state where the black paramedic breonna Taylor was shot in her home 17 times by police for no rational reason. So I have an entire distrust of the institutions that hold the police unaccountable for their senseless violence and prejudice actions. And I’m a place like Kentucky, a “commonwealth” many government officials and police are part of a private organization called the ku klux klan. This isn’t a work of fiction, this is actually real, no matter how outrageous it sounds.

You’re telling me about a situation I’m already familiar with. But even still, How is that relevant to the discussion we’re having? Especially if you’re not someone that would be at the receiving end of that discrimination? What even is your point and your stance on any of this??

I wouldn’t dispute that it’s a very difficult situation to be in and that the cops need more accountability...I think the issue is when you have a racist cop he feels able to do as he pleases...in other industry’s this isn’t the case anymore.

I’m not sure you can qualify your first statement as we just have differing opinions.

Ever heard of warring tribes in Africa? Rwanda? Weren’t they racist to each other? Able to answer a straight question without sarcasm and superiority complex?

@Lonely-Martin it’s not “us” vs them. It’s right vs wrong. Injustice vs equality. This is life vs death. I’m not saying this in the cliche’ “oh I have black friends” kind of way, but my mothers mother was white, god rest her soul. I don’t harbor any hatred in my heart for any group of people. There are many white people that see and understand our plight and have been working tirelessly to help this cause for decades. We just want to live without fear of abuse or harassment or even death. We want to have the right to exist. Why do they hate us so much?

Honestly, because they're cunts. I don't know how to express it better because it really is that for too many and just not right at all. I hate seeing these incidents pop up and the way they make me feel, I can't imagine what it's like for a black person in those situations and fearful of so much with what seems like no corner to turn to when things go wrong.

I wish we had an answer, I really do. People say it's a generational thing, but that can't be completely true as it's as much an issue now as it was 60 years or so ago when things were like this. It's clear that the racism is being passed down to the next generation and that's the part that really frustrates me with all of this when looking back at history. To not see enough change in all areas is just disheartening, but it doesn't stop me wanting better equality and discourage any divides. Black, gay, whatever, we're a human and want the same things. To live life to the max.

I hope this era does more now than ever and wish you well in all this too.

No but racism is. Say a black person goes to your part of the world in Eastern Europe. They'd most likely be detained by local cops, refused service, or beaten.

I'd say that's quite a bit of a stretch. There is a big difference in parts of a country. If you go to a city that has a university you will find plenty of MENA and African people. Shop owners are used to serving them and so are the people to seeing them. I would say black people are generally viewed more favorably than Arabic people everywhere in Europe.

I can quote plenty of definitions of racism that don't state that simply defining people by their racial identity is racist.

Can you cite a single one which does contain words to that effect? I bet you can't.

If you can convincingly explain to me how the question is at all relevant to anything I've said, then, certainly.

It isn't, though, so I don't really see why I should.

I've been on the side of George Floyd and BLM through all this, but let me take a second to call out all the white simps who feel like heroes for raising their own awareness not only about racial disparity and injustice in America and the West, but also about black success, too. I've seen people make an overly conscious effort to seek out black artists. I've heard people talk about wanting to try Jamaican cuisine for the first time. Corporate leaders are stepping down from their positions and tweeting about it in acts that can only be described as covert White Saviorism.

I tried being a naïve optimist who believes it's all an earnest desire to do good, but the realist in me just can't keep it contained because the people I've hated the most through this, are the excessively vocal white BLM supporters. We can all agree that racists need to f*ck off, but at least they're honest with themselves and others about their superiority and inferiority complexes.

Let. Me. Be. Clear. If it took police asphyxiating George Floyd for you to add a black musician to your playlist or a black artist to your Insta feed; if it took racists hunting and murdering Ahmaud Arbery to inspire you to enter a black-owned business or try Afro-Caribbean dishes; if it took the home invasion and shooting of Breanna Taylor for you consider that there might not be an adequate representation of people of color in positions of leadership; then before 2020, you were part of the problem you won't shut the f*ck up about, so stop pretending like you're the one who's upholding the cause. Your white superiority is showing.

To everyone else who is just genuinely out there with a good, honest, humble heart trying to stand with their brothers and sisters in humanity, keep doin you!

It's both, and why should anyone be surprised by that? I'm in my thirties. My generation is the one that was supposed to be born free of prejudice, but if you're my age, then there's a good chance your parents were already children when segregation was finally outlawed. Your grandparents were already adults, which means they were entirely raised in an era of segregation.

Racism didn't just end because segregation was outlawed. Racists didn't magically see the light. If you see a young white person acting aggressively toward black people in old footage from the Civil Rights Movement, chances are that that person is still alive. So on the one hand, it IS generational, in the sense that we still have a generation that was raised in a segregated world. And on the other hand, they are passing it on because that's what people do, sadly.

Thankfully, while my generation does have racists, it has a lot more of inbetweeners (people who aren't explicitly racist, but who were likely raised by racist or semiracist parents, and don't think that racism is still a problem because they refuse to see what's happening in black communities as anything other than self-caused), which means they're less likely to pass on a directly hateful message, which means the newer generations will further and further dilute the pool until racism is just a couple redneck neckbeard mouth-breathers living on the fringes of society.

I would love for racism, inequality, and racial disparity to just end outright, but realistically, when you look at Civil Rights in the grand historical scheme, this still only just changed essentially yesterday. Humans are slow to change. It's frustrating, but it's inescapable, so just keep doing what you can do to create a lasting legacy of goodness and fairness.

@MadHammerThorsteen. I agree, I'm not surprised but disappointed by it really. But as you said, it'll take time to dilute it all from past generations with the next and so on. I'm nearly 40 myself and totally understand what you mean there. Let's just hope an era like this in today's world can do more good to help ease these issues. :)
