Algonquin Assassin
Since the mid 2000s I feel like this has been a genre on the decline. I don't know what it is, but "parody" movies in particular have been rather crap in recent years. They often feel like soulless cash grabs to me where the directors think mashing movies together is what people think will find funny. Don't get me wrong similar movies of the past done that, but they done it in a way where it didn't feel like it was overtly try hard to get a laugh from the audience. Most of their humour came from self-irony and political incorrectness. Some of my favourites are.. -Blazing Saddles -Flying High/Airplane -The Naked Gun series -Hot Shots/Part Deux -High School High -Spyhard -Wrongfully Accused -The Scary Movie series (Well mostly the first two. The others are alright, but not as good as 1 and 2 IMO). The one common thing from most of these movies is Leslie Nielsen which is ironic because he used to be an actor that only played in serious movies back in the day, but I remember him more for his goofy parody work and The Naked Gun series especially. Lonely-Martin
Scary Movie, 1 mostly but they all have moments. Hot Shots/2. Austin Powers, all 3. Naked Gun, all 3. National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1. Wayne's World/2. Airplane/2. Shaun of the Dead. Johnny English was funny too. And I'm adding the Scream series as it does well at sending up the slasher genre while refreshing it too. Edited June 1, 2020 by Lonely-Martin Wording. Mister Pink
They are good every now and then. My favourites were Naked Gun and Airplane. Not sure if Ace Ventura fits in to the category but perhaps you can say it's a parody/satire on 80's/90's detective shows. The Time Ranger
I always liked Robin Hood Prince Of Tights, it's another of Mel Brooks films, I've never actually seen Prince Of Thieves which it parodies but it's still very funny, the fact that I can laugh without seeing Prince Of Thieves says a lot about how funny it is. Robin meets a Rabbi. Robin is reunited with his loyal blind servant, Blinkin. I loved it as a kid and it only got better as I got older. Never really thought of Ace Ventura as parody/satire, but there's a good case for it. This was Jim Carrey at his best IMO.

Naughtius Maximus
Some of these I'm listing might be far-fetched, but I believe they're satirical more or less... South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut: The name "South Park" should say it all alone, but the movie has dealt with many American and world-wide sociopolitical issues: problematic parenting, ridiculous urge for censorship, blocking free spech, America playing the world police and many more. Team America: World Police: Self-explanatory, Trey Parker and Matt Stone lay a big turd on both oppresive dictatorships and America's self-righteous foreign policy by using their trademark toilet humor. Life of Brian: Despite having the focus on early Christianity, Life of Brian is a brilliant and genius take on how some people blindly follow religious tracts without questioning. Dogma: Well, honestly it's just Kevin Smith introducting Jay and Silent Bob to some wacky-fictionalized mythology, but I like how Smith puts some eccentric ideas about God's concept on the plate. This is Spinal Tap: To be honest, I found the movie to be mediocre over all but there is no denying it's probably the best satire pulled on wacky glam metal culture of the '80s. Catch-22 and Full Metal Jacket: Two successful war and human nature satires. Fritz the Cat and The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat: Fritz movies are more of "mindboggling" comedies rather than fully-intended satires. However, they got beautifully satirical when they tackled posing hippie culture, police brutality, violent Neo-Nazi culture, tense Afro-American riots and included a pretty controversial depiction of an insecure and sexually unsure Hitler. There could be times when I find some of Fritz's points too cruel and unfair, but honestly Fritz movies are more about being controversial rather than completely serious satires. Idiocracy: Mike Judge's masterpiece. Already mentioned but everything that movie talked about was true... and it's getting truer day by day. Great fun especially if you've seen the movies it mocks and don't mind a bit of crude humour with it. Much better than another I forgot too... Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood. It's fun, but it doesn't age as well as some already mentioned above. Zapper
Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead by Edgar Wright - Both are fantastic parodies with pitch perfect humor and witty dialogue. Fight Club by David Fincher - Superb satire of consumer capitalism and gender politics. I haven't read the book but some say the film is even better whereas some disagree. Even writer Chuck Palahniuk considers the film to be somewhat better than the book. Dr. Strangelove by Stanley Kubrick - One of the most masterful black comedies of all time and a brilliant cold war satire. It's easily one of my favorite films of all time.
