What happens if you color the tags before tagging up turf?

They are collected, in any order, at any time after the Game Start.

I often do them prior to starting the first mission, so as to have the Weapons Cache in the Johnson house kitchen.

Two paint cans are available at the start of the game.

My start is usually the Fire Fighting sub-mission, the Burglary, and the Gang Tags. in that order.

IF you did the tags that are sprayed in the mission, and then play the mission,they will be reverted to their original state and you will have to spray them again. Don't worry about the other ones,it's just these six.

I usually start to spray these graffitis with my bike before doing any story or side missions. Because if you keep riding your bike the Cycling Skill will be increased and you can also do a Weapon Run, killing drug dealer (Collecting Money, Pistol) etc. You can spray all graffitis without restriction but if you want to preserve this "Grove Street Home...." sequence i highly suggest you to spray the tag (Under the Bridge and close to Grove Street) with Pimping or Vigilante..

If you spray they before the mission, and then spray them during the mission, will the stats read "106 of 100 tags sprayed"? Or does the number change to 94 when the mission starts?

The mission "de-sprays" the tags back to 94 if you've done them all, it can't go above 100.

Yes, you are absolutely right. Of these 6 graffiti, Sweet is painting one and it is impossible to complete this mission with less than 6 painted graffiti. But if you paint all 100 of them before the start of the mission, then the game will cancel these specific drawings for us so that we can repaint them again.
