GTA IV complete edition is dogsh*t

This is what I mean:

They've released an even sh*ttier version of the game with radio stations from EFLC in GTA IV (makes no goddamn sense) and bugs galore. My question is: how the hell do you "downgrade" back to the old Steam version since this current version is complete utter crap?

Considering their incompetence at RDR2, I don't expect them to be better at GTA IV

Quick & Easy Downgrade with DLCs and MP

(If you don't want DLC music, just don't bother following the instructions for the DLCs)

I tried that but the game doesn't even start anymore.

I followed these instructions to the letter and it didn't work, when I try to launch the game from Steam I get a prompt saying:

SecuLauncher: failed to start application. [2000]

How does it not make sense for the EFLC Radio stuff to be in IV? The stories take place at the same time and that's how it worked originally when you got TLAD/TBOGT as DLC for IV.

Because you played the original version that had different stations? It changes the feel of the game.

I don't quite get this, maybe it was because I played the original versions where the stations mixed, TLAD even played "Jailbreak" during the final mission which was missing from the EFLC version, but to me those stations ADDED to IV as well making the city feel more alive, especially with how LCHC and The Beat would do handovers back to the IV versions in the game.

I think merged songs in all games is absolutely perfect . When I bought Complete Edition on discs, I hoped this would be the way for radios. Unfortunately, it was not. Thankfully, I found mods for that.

i think combining radio stations is a stupid idea. some stations like vladivostok are COMPLETELY different between the two games

That's only because Vladivostok FM in TBOGT was supposed to be a new station but for some reason they couldn't split off new stations via DLC at the time (Something they corrected for GTAV/GTAO), hell it could be the reason why the EFLC exclusive station are "difficult" for Rockstar to add in right now 😛

afaik it should have been "EuroBeat FM" in TBoGT but ended up as a new Vladivostok FM station in EFLC. Yeah it's kinda weird to mix post soviet songs with early western 2000's music but at the same time it also fits since all 3 storys take place at the same time and why shouldn't Niko be able to listen to the same songs you hear in EFLC.

I have downloaded original Vladivostock FM from Youtube and put it in my UserMusic folder.

So i can hear the old songs.

Fun little side note, back when there was an LC in V project a choice was made to split those two up again, you can see the logo designs for the radio dial here...

GTA IV DID originally have TLAD/TBOGT ("EFLC") music when you were to download them as DLC's. And this way it makes even more sense.

You can hear through the radio dialogue that the EFLC music is just a program to the original one. You're just not used to it.

I agree though, mixing Vladivostok is weird.

Are all versions of GTA IV locked to online DRM like V? If I want to experience IV for the first time, is it possible to find some kind of original copy? Also, is this DLC issue the only thing--has any of the soundtrack or anything else been removed?

I think you can find a DVD version of 1.0.0.0 and patch it up to whatever version you want.
I think there has been a downgrade guide as well but I haven't touched one ever since Launcher dropped.
Soundtracks were removed long ago. Also multiplayer is removed and I think one station got retired.
The radio content and I think TV shows have been merged between IV and EFLC.
You use only one .exe to access both GTA IV and DLCs along with easily switching between on the fly by loading their saves. Also autosave now saves for IV and DLCs separately instead of overwriting one another.

Yeah.......

...Not likin' that...

You guys who played IV originally are okay with this? It looks like my only option is to pay undoubtedly a bunch of money for an original disc.

Not many people will like what I am going to say but I don't really care about the songs. They replaced them with new ones and you can always use the custom radio to play the songs you want.

Also despite my great love for IV, I wouldn't really recommend going through a lot of trouble just to play IV today. Because on PC it's still a performance mess. You are better off getting it on a console or something. But if you are serious, get an original disc but if you are okay with how V opens up with R* launcher than honestly I don't see much of the fuss. Unless Rockstar Launcher stops working, you can still enjoy the best parts of IV on it.

Just one thing, there is that TBOGT's boat graphic glich where black bars are going out of Gracie's head, If someone can confirm that it's a Complete Edition only problem then you have a point on avoiding R* launcher.

Of course we're not ok with it, but thankfully mods restore it. Just right now we're waiting on Rockstar to FINISH the Complete Edition since it's still missing some radio stations, etc, which they've acknowledged.
