Removing joint hands from weapon models in Blender

Recommended Posts

Mr.Maniac

When converting cs1.6 models to SA i encountered a lot of problems and somehow manged to fix some but there r some models in which hands are joined with gun models normally the hands are already separated but in some models they r joined with the gun and if i try to delete it, part of the weapon also gets deleted, in 3ds max u don't have any problem removing that, but is there any way to remove it in blender?

Either get rid of the mesh only, or delete the child bones first.

You have to delete them in edit mode, not object mode, like so: https://i.imgur.com/HGTEH10.mp4\

Watch some blender tutorials on youtube, Grant Abbit has a good channel https://www.youtube.com/user/mediagabbitt/playlists

As said earlier the hands are joint with the weapon, not only phycically. If i select the hands the weapon also gets deleted..this is most frustrating thing about cs models!

Unlike any other 3d software the models r not coloured in blender and in edit mode i have to select the hand then press 'x'and click in 'delete vertices' which is a very lengthy process as it doesn't deletes vertices at once i have do it several times until the object i want to remove disappears and the vertices of the gun and hands are not coloured so i can identify them ,so part of the weapon also gets deleted in this process. 😔

How can u delete the hands at once?! I have to delete the vertices several times until it disappears!

And by the way u misunderstood it in the model u r doing changes the hands are separated from the weapon, topic already says 'joint hands'maybe i wasn't good enough to explain...😅. The type of hands i'm talking about is holding the gun they r not separated even after importing them in blender..I am also not having my laptop cuz i broke it and no repair shop is open so i can't also provide you a decent model as an example..But check out this video:

skip it to 6:21 the hands in the model are holding the gun.

And i'm talking 'bout, how to remove them?

Hey man,

Just saw your problem. I am not a modder but I know something about 3d models.

First of all the model of gun has been attached to the model of player in the early stage of developing.

Secondly, you cannot eliminate the player completely using blender.

I am not saying you cannot remove it but it will affect the model in term of memory and other 'PHYSICS' stuff.

Last but not the least, here is a solution.

Try to remove it after disabling mesh renderer. If it doesn't work, try reducing the magnitude of physics ( Might sound wierd but it works sometimes).

Watch some blender tutorials on youtube, this is rather basic modelling.

B to box select, Z > Wireframe so you can select the entire mesh not just the visible parts.

You could also use Ctrl+L and L to select linked.

Again, watch blender tutorials on youtube, they will explain what different shading modes are.

Because you are in solid shading which does not show textures, press Z > material preview to show them, you also need to extract the textures as png before you import the model so they get loaded.

Edit mode, object mode.

Two completely different modes. Learn how to use blender, watch some vids on youtube.

i would provide a better explanation with screenshots but i'm in a match currently, so i hope this works:

select the object
press tab to switch to edit mode (you can switch manually as well)
select the hands mesh and delete it

p.s: you can delete the materials if you want, but i personally used them to identify which texture is assigned to which part of the gun's mesh

that's all you need to do
