Liberty-TG
I can't believe Red Dead Redemption is 10 years. Maybe the best game of the PS3 and Xbox 360. Happy birthday! An amazing game that gives me so much nostalgia. The music, ambientation, characters, missions, map and activities were good. Even 10 years later is an amazing game! Deserves at least some acknoledge by Rockstar. When I'll finish the RDR 2 storyline(the 3rd time), I'll play RDR missions for the first time after RDR 2 released. I miss playing it. It deserves at least a port if not a remaster or remake to the PS4 and PC. And Rockstar needs to release games more often!!! GTA 5 is the only game from the GTA+RD saga which is less than 10 years old... You can also post mysteries, curiosities, strange facts, something almost no one noticed,... god speed, Arkvoodle, TheLastOutlaw1911 and 5 others 8 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/955050-red-dead-redemption-10th-anniversary/ Share on other sites
Spider-Vice
Indeed. Rockstar's unexpected classic! I remember people not being very interested in a Western until it was one of Rockstar's best games. Lemoyne outlaw
time sure flies by fast. this was the first game i went to a midnight release for. this was also the game that got me into watching westerns. and it also made me become a history buff. i have so many memories with this game. more than rdr2 even though i have been playing that game like crazy too. the story is amazing. with great characters. the map was very good. and had a lot of unique and cool locations. i spent so much of my time on the cannons. and it was because of these cannons and el presidio that i got interested in artillery. i also really liked undead nightmare. although i was not too interested at first. because i thought zombies in a western did not mix. i grew to enjoy it and really like it for what it was. and its such a shame that rockstar has not done a singleplayer dlc for a long time. and they probably never will. multiplayer has plenty of amazing memories. having fun with friends doing the co op missions. or the pvp modes. the multiplayer is a lot more simple and has less content in red dead online. which was not a problem back then. although it was a shame that you could not make your own character or get to own stuff like in rdo. overall this game has a special place in my heart. i dont know if i would say that its better than rdr2. because they both are amazing. and they both have stuff that the other does not. all i will say is rockstar knows how to make masterpieces. happy birthday red dead redemption. Peckinpah
I was so excited when Rockstar announced this. I've always been a huge fan of Westerns and the American West in general. For some reason there has always been a real dearth of Western games out there and I assumed at the time that the success of RDR would spawn many more Western games but now it feels as though Rockstars masterpiece cemented the Western game genre as their own. I love all the little nods to classic Westerns, I love all the characters in the game, I could role-play in RDR for hours on end, from being a mountain man wearing the expert hunter outfit, to a bounty hunter, an outlaw hightailing it to Mexico when the Law caught up with me, I never ever got bored with this game. I sincerely hope that the Red Dead series remains and a third game will happen one day, the original game and the sequel should prove to Rockstar that single player isn't dead. I'd happily pay full price for a remaster. KGBeast
Honestly hard to believe. I was a senior in high school at the time, about a week away from graduating. I remember heading to Gamestop after school to pick up my copy along with Alan Wake, which came out the same day. Incredible day to be a gamer. 6 hours ago, Kubigz said: Ending was heartbreaking The feeling of anger and futility as the army attack the ranch. John's acceptance of death and his last defiant stand. Stepping into Jack's shoes knowing he's lost everything. And that moment of catharsis when you take revenge on Ross. There aren't many, if any, game endings as well put together and gut wrenching. billiejoearmstrong8
And here I am playing it for the first time. It's an incredible game. The ambience and look of the world is amazing, the music, the beautiful landscapes and layout that makes it feel endless, the wildlife, the detailed NPC behaviour. The gunplay and horse riding is very satisfying. I love how there's always something entertaining to do even after you've 100%ed thanks to hunting (the best thing), infinite random events and bounty hunting, fun games like poker and other activities. Love John Marston and his story and the ending took my breath away. 1 hour ago, TheOriginalGunslinger said: Definitely entering Mexico for the first time. I agree! Just riding around listening to the song and taking in the new landscape. It's art. Genius on the part of the people who conceived this idea and put it together. Kirsty
Where can you even begin with this game? Sneaky Queeky
I fell in love with the game instantly. I remember vividly being lost in the game world in the middle of the moonlit night, crouched in some tall grass out hunting, and hearing all these animals making noise all around me, a horse kicking in the dirt on the road, crickets chirping, the strum of an A minor chord on a Spanish guitar, the whistling from an ocarina...it even sounded like the greatest open world game to date. The graphics aged wonderfully too. KarimNTerr
Started a new playthrough of the game a few hours ago after a long time since I last played it, a couple of years maybe (?), and man... this game on the PS3 looks like a PS4 game, I will never get bored of it and the details are amazing! I'm still discovering new things, like when I unlocked the second treasure map, the one that leads you to the Rio Bravo area, and a random NPC just outside the Armadillo Saloon said something along the lines of "I know there's a treasure in Rio Bravo, and I'm gonna get it!", and I was like, WOW! Also how you can see... ...
