Top 5 Hardest Achievements/Trophies/Accomplishments since the dawn of the HD Era

Recommended Posts

Jimbatron

I've spend a lot of time on R* games over the last decade, and I like to complete them as much as possible. I started thinking about which were the toughest challenges (one of which I'm not sure I'll ever do), in terms of Achievements/Trophies/Accomplishments. Here are my top 5 in order of progressing difficulty/commitment required:

5) GTA IV: Wanted

Ranking up in GTA IV took serious hours, unlike GTA V/Online's equivalent "Above the Law" was a comparative breeze. You could however grind it out just by getting good at the three Co-op modes.

4) GTA V/Online: "Masterminds"

Getting doing three Criminal Masterminds of the Doomsday Heists was probably the hardest one in the game. It's very easy to die in these if you mess about, and requires dedication and team work. Felt very satisfying doing this with a good group of friends. Would have the Elite Challenges from the original heists and the CMM but there is no achievement for doing this. Still, once we'd got our tactics sorted, it wasn't to bad, we only had to restart 1 of the 3 runs due to an unlucky death.

3) RDR 2: "Gold Rush"

"Best in the West" is perhaps worth an honourable mention for the sheer volume of stuff required to hit 100%, but some of the gold medals had ridiculously tight timelines, and took a lot of replays to get them all.

2) GTA IV: "Auf Wiedershen Petrovic"

Winning all the game modes in GTA IV multiplayer. If there weren't so many races you had to win it would have been no problem. But you had to win at every track including GTA and normal race mode. The number of times people quit as I crossed the finish line in the lead (which then disqualifies it counting towards the achievement) was a real frustration, but eventually I ground it out.

1) Max Payne 3 "The Shadows Rushed Me"

Seriously. Get through the entire game, on hard mode, without dying once, and against a time limit? This is the one I haven't got, and I'm not sure if I ever will. Perhaps when I've retired from work and have more time, I'll dig it out and see if I can do it.

What do you reckon are your 5 most difficult R* Achievements/Trophies/Accomplishments going (excluding Platinums, obviously)?

Tell me about it, The ones you listed are the most dreadful but also in a sense rewarding because if you're a completionist. You have to do them. Its like an OCD to me especially since its a R* title. Ive gotten GTA IV: Wanted,  f*ck you Petrovic  ( I call that achievement instead of the name just because of all that sh*t you have to go through). I still need to do the rest, and Im looking for people to help me in that.   Continuing on the hard ones for me,  this next one isnt that much of a hard thing. But its still a tedious thing for me personally and thats 100% V on current gen (xboxone) . Why? because on last gen  I had my save file corrupted by GTAO updates that I couldn't been able to complete it to 100% and I had it at 97% so tell me how that feels. I didnt even complete it., and i haven't touched the story mode in that gen since that.  Still mad about that, V all together has left me a sour taste of it. Just on that game breaking experience. Id also say trying to get the achievements on last gen for V, at least the multiplayer ones. Just because its a dead place, and the removal of being able not to Fly like the wind bounty, cause you know... Free money ruined that. lastly, Id say take the cannoli, reach godfather crime rating in VC at 1 million. Tedious, never tried it cause of course I dont have PS4 but  id imagine its a pain in the butt even with the exploits you have to do in order to reach it faster.

Definitely gonna agree with the Max Payne 3 Achievement/Trophy you listed there. “The Shadows Rushed Me” was (an appropriate pun) a pain in the ass. Took me many tries but finally started to get the hang of it after memorizing enemy spawns and stuff. :^:

Is GTA IV's multiplayer still accessible on the consoles?

I remember in the old days I completed the full list for Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic and the damn trophy didn't come out, I even got Fly The Co-op where you had to beat Rockstar Games' time records...

Another one which gave me headache was T-Mobile myFaves from Midnight Club Los Angeles, took me an eternity to meet 5 friends at once in a session. For some reason I hadn't too many friends playing that game back in 2009 - 2010 and my English wasn't very good at the time to ask random people for it. Finally, I sent random friend requests to people I found online and then I invited them all to the session. 😆

I didn't unlock many online trophies in Red Dead Redemption either, if I'm not wrong many of them required achieving gold medals, which wasn't easy I think.

I don't own any console but the PS2 right now, I'm not playing that much anymore to be honest. However, I'd like to build something like gaming room in the future and start playing all these awesome games again.

I just read this on the Social Club:

97U17uF.jpg

Nostalgia. I spent many hours online and I hadn't too much to do but I had fun shooting the RPG-7 at the airport or trying to avoid them in my Infernus.

Masterminds made Petrovic ones look like child's play.

Mine is the MCLA T-Mobile one where you gotta have 8 friends in one lobby. I don't have friends. The only friends are the bugs on my skin, get them off me!

I've not played Max Payne 3, looks too hard for me and my poor shooting skills unfortunately. Just wasn't for me as I'm not really a combat guy and I've poor eyesight that lets me down, but I've seen some are really tough to get though.

I also didn't play GTA IV online or Red Dead Redemption, GTA V/O was my very first dip into online gaming. My top 5...

5. Numero Uno, GTA:O (PS3). I'm not great at combat/PvP, and it took a while to win one of everything out there back when I first started out.

4. The Real Deal, RDR2O (PS4). To get 3x MVP on PvP content proved really tough for me.

3. Close Shaven GTA V (PS3). Never been a great pilot in gaming as it's not really my thing. It was a real eureka moment to finally get this trophy. So many fails that I thought it might not happen at all.

2. Masterminds, GTA:O (PS4). My favourite trophy, but it was a tough one to get, the 2 player run was really tough.

1. Gold Rush, RDR2 (PS4). Yet to achieve this and have been putring it off as I know this will be a real test of my poor eyesight and combat skills. I hope to get it one day, but I'm not putting any pressure on it.

Honourable mentions, the Paramedic missions on San Andreas, Vice City and III. They were pretty tough to get, although Vice City was the toughest/easiest to mess up on. Got a bit frustrating at times, lol.

Fly the Co-op was the first one that really got me into chasing achievements. Had a lot of fun with them, definitely the fore runner to GTA V's Online Heist Elite Challenges.

I think the Doomsday Masterminds are vastly impacted by how good a connection you have to team mates. If it lags the chance of you getting an insta-kill death increases dramatically. I think I was quite fortunate in having a solid group of friends, generally with good connections to each other.

I'm not sure I will ever get time to do the RDR2O achievements sadly. Generally I have less time for gaming now, I'm hoping to finish the single player ones (still have to get Zooologist and the one with the Bears), but that might be it for me. I've platinmumed GTA IV and V, but I'm not sure I'll ever get another R* full set.

I must admit, by getting some of these trophies has pushed my limits a bit and of late I've been losing interest in them in general. Plus like you, I have less game time so look to just enjoy what takes my fancy really, though the RDR2 gold medals one may come naturally during my new play through of course. We'll see. :)
