Kinda low effort tbh

It is obvious the devs just took the Mafia 1 assets and ported them to a new engine with shiny graphics!

Then what did you expect? Honestly?

I mean it's pretty amazing that they are finally remaking it. I don't know if it as great as I would like it to be. But definitely beats play that legendary racing mission with keyboard again. It was pain in the ass back in the day. And nowadays it's just torture.

I was being sarcastic 😛

This is truly beautiful, much better than anything we could have ever expected!

Mafia 4 is heavily rumored to be coming out late Fall 2021, so they're probably working on something new. Now you've got a remake of Mafia 1, which is the best thing about this move, and then there's the concept of raising IP awareness which can help to boost the marketing of the next game.

yeah I got it.

but the announcement of a remake is nowhere near as exciting as the announcement of something new.

like I said. I've already played these games. I've already played these missions. multiple times.

oh well.

This remake is RE2 Remake tier. Follows the same general story, atmosphere and environment but adds extended plot and is rebuilt from zero.

It is a not new game new game basically which you should not miss out on. 😛

To be honest (controversial opinion ahead) I'm more excited about the Mafia 1 remaster than Red Dead Redemption 2, which I still haven't played. I too would rather have a fully new experience, but in this case the original is such a great game, but so old and outdated it makes me excited to know its great story will be adapted to current gaming standards. Let's just hope they won't mess it up.

Just the thought of driving in 1930s Lost Heaven makes me so excited I'm going to be speeding down the road f*ck the speed limit.

Until you get the unshakeable cops. I wonder if they will bring back the easter egg car, the Bolt Thrower, which you can get by shooting that very specific part of the bridge.

Come on man, I didn't saw Mafia since back then, and a lot of people just never heard about it before, especially young one. This shouldn't be watched from your, this perspective. Back then developers couldn't really show a lot of their ideas and views, through graphics limitations and this is just wonder, that this classic, and very strong game would live for much longer and have a proper look of a movie, that it wanted to be.

I hope that in terms of cars they won't just strictly stick to what was in the original game. This is the perfect chance to add other beautiful cars from the period. I can think of a few examples I would like to see in the game:

2020 has probably been the worst year I ever experienced but this is trilogy remaster is really something I’m really looking forward to. It really makes me happy.  So when can we play the mafia 2 remaster, I see people talking about a May 19th date? I can download it on the playstation store then?

To be honest to anyone who didn't get to experience Mafia 1 before I have one advice: get it. Steam, Gog (get the licensed music back via patches if you get it through any of these) or by questionable methods. Experience it because I have a feeling that the remastered version will have a completely different (maybe a lesser) impact. That story that the original portrays and the narrative it does is to die for. Well it might be too early to have this negative vision but I def. recommend checking the game out or at least the cutscenes on youtube.

Though to be honest I am looking forward for the updated graphics. Can you imagine how good some cutscenes would look? The intro where we get a tour of the city, the ending, the talk with the priest.

The one very sad fact, for Playstation you only have one way - to buy full set of PS2 and a disk, unfortunately.

Although I'm sure that remake will be different, but Mafia I simply a game, one of few, that deserves it, to be fresh new. Personally would recommend to all new players to watch original after remake. If original is better it will be better anyway and no one takes this existing game away.

True that. As negative as I sound about the new one I am actually really looking forward to it because hey, it's still a game that I really wanted remastered for so long and now here it is.

Oh yeah, now this is some awesome news.

The first Mafia is where it's at for me, and with the graphics looking as good as they do here I can't wait to replay the compaign. The original release was always ahead of it's time for a sandbox game, but it's certainly showing it's age now. This should bring a bit of life back into this trilogy.

It's interesting that we don't hear Tommy in the trailer. Not sure who the voice actor is in that clip, maybe Paulie?

This is awesome.

Always considered Mafia II to be an unappreciated gem.  Didn't play much of Mafia 1 back in the day so this would be a great opportunity for me to pick it up.:)

bro all I can do is speak for myself... since I personally already dumped hundreds of hours into the original Mafia games, the announcement of a remake is underwhelming.

better graphics don't excite me anywhere near as much as new / original gameplay.

Mafia II: Definitive Edition, a slight revision of Mafia II for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Mafia: Definitive Edition is the full remaster of the original game and that's coming August 28.

Ya'll think William Demeo (Paulie) is in the remake voicing Paulie again? In the teaser it sounds like him...

EDIT: What if the story is told from Paulie's perspective? Before and after you meet Tommy?

It might just be. The teaser specifically had quotes from each of the protagonist; Vito and Lincoln. But why Paulie instead of Tommy? I could see the remake having Paulie, Tommy, and possibly even Sam? Or just two so it doesn't get out of hand like GTA 5's protagonist system was. To say that Tommy's VA is missing probably isn't true, it's likely it's the same VA from the original game, I'd cross my fingers and wait till the 19th for it to unfold.

I looked it up on iMDB. Only Salieri's voice is dead and that's it. Every other major character's VA is alive. Fun fact: Salieri's actor played the voice of Sonny's right hand man and Old Kelly in VC.

My guess is It's probably hard to get in touch with them again. Since it was so long ago they've got new phone numbers and Agents some of them probably have quit acting too and that makes it harder.

There seems to be some conflicting information on the web. Mafia 1 is certainly a full remake, but is Mafia 2 a full remake or just a refresh?

From the looks of things it seems like it's just a remaster and not a remake.
