They adapted him to the Mafia 1 Remake version, which is neat for continuity!

And we’re going to see a full HD Joe and Vito in the remake

Goes to show that I tried to remember what things looked like out of my mind. I guess it's okay but the issues hint that this must have been rushed. Is it still free on the Malaysian PS store by the way?

Nope, but if you already owned Mafia 2 on Steam you also get Mafia 2 DE for free and get to keep the old copy of Mafia 2 as Mafia 2 Classic.

All DLCs are added to both versions, all free.

Oh yeah that is actually a neat thing you can keep both versions. That I appreciate.

Been watching some videos of this with the new Mafia 1 Remake easter egg bonus and it looks amazing, same with the game itself, much better shader than the release one.

I wonder why they cut so many things on Mafia III. Gas stations, police system, realistic physics... was Mafia I and II made by Hangar 13 too?

Mafia 1 was made by Illusion Softworks.

Mafia 2 was made by 2K Czech.

Mafia III was made by Hangar 13.

I'm not getting the Mafia II remaster because there is no freeride mode (I know I know remasters don't add anything) and it's also like 50 GBs. Getting to play the DLCs is tempting though.

You could consider free ride a thing now anyway since the DLCs are included in the main game for good. They all allow free roaming.

i hope in mafa remake we are allowed to purchase houses/apartments. thats something thats seriously missing from todays game, the past gtas and mafias games you just get gifted a safehouse. in last previous gen games like gta sa and saints row 2, youre able to buy places. alot of mob guys had multiple safe houses.

I'm all about incorporating new things to the series that are much needed (like free roam). But I'm definitely not one of those who believes that "if San Andreas did it, everyone should". That game was the exact opposite of what the Mafia series is all about. With SA's multiple safehouses you also had reused interiors everywhere. I would rather have a few safehouses and each one be unique and different. The interiors should fit with the exterior and you should be able to see the exterior from inside.

There is a Mafia II free ride mod that works pretty well as far as I remember. You can choose between both time periods and you can take Joe and Henry with you optionally.

i get where youre coming from. But im not saying because gta sa did it then they should do it, im saying the older generation of games always allowed to buy homes but not in recent gen of games. i dont remember the last open world game i played where we can buy a home. and of course san andreas had to use reuse interiors, they had like 50 purchaseable houses back in 2004 lol i wouldnt mind reusing interiors as long as we get to pick which one we wanted for whichever house we bought

A biker gang just doesn't fit in the 30s in my opinion.

You sure about that?

Why the f*ck is the Falconer Yellowcar suddenly a Shubert Six

I see no reason to be pessimistic at all. I thought the franchise was literally dead after the third game, I couldn't even imagine Mafia 4 happening not to mention the remake of the first game. That I couldn't have foreseen even in my most satisfying wet dreams. It's definitely better than nothing at all.

I'd rather let the franchise die than invite a remake that might be worse than Mafia 3 and ruin the original tbqh

I can't see Tommy riding a bike though, would feel off for me.

you should be able to see it, I think.

remember, Mafia games always made a point to include and reference popular motor culture, with missions featuring hot-rod gangs and cars to collect with modified engines or unique paint jobs.

this has been a staple feature since the original Mafia through Mafia 3. each new installment added more options for customizing and collecting your own vehicles. the only reason these options were simplified or cut from the first game were due to graphics limitations. it's already known that the first Mafia intended to include motorcycles but they had to be cut for limits, in order to save time and space. fleshed out motorcycle culture would be a welcome addition to a Mafia remake and one of the few things that might actually get me to buy it

I can see Tommy cruising the strip in his leather jacket, cabbie hat, and biker goggles with Sarah riding on the back. her hair flowing in the wind.

What was in Mafia 1 though? I don't remember any real subcultures or anything other than mob related stuff.

Yea but if the devs aren't caring about consistency between the three games you know they just won't care about the true definitive version.

I too used to care a lot about car brands in GTA IV. But now I think it's a bit asinine to assume the whole game is going to be bad because of minuscule details like that, which may not be noticed by most players at all. If they mess up the brand and model names, it's not something good, but if they can deliver what really matters (driving physics that match what these cars could do in real life) at least I will be satisfied. Personally I'm a big fan of cars from this era, and if they look good and drive decently, I'm not going to bother too much about the names not properly matching with the first game.

Well some of the cars were pretty exclusive stuff in real life. The Silver Fletcher's real life counterpart is the Pierce Silver Arrow and only 5 was made of that car. So you could argue there was a motorist subculture.

Yea but it's kinda hard to notice when you remember that just about everyone who owned a car back in those days was a "motorist" and not a mere commuter

A remake is a remake so expect some retcons, they just retconned the Falconer Taxi into the Schubert Six, no big deal.

To be honest they are pretty similar. And it isn't even sure that it's a Schubert Six.

Have started Mafia III today on PS4 slim. First noticable difference is that drawing distance is higher, you can now see buildings more clearly far away, but still blurry. Blurry bumpers of all cars around are now looks better, generally game doesn't have that weird sprites effect. Only glitch so far, is the cutscene in the beginning, when you meet to plan a robbery in a Burke's garage now repeats twice.

The only thing I hope is they are to going bring back all the vehicles from the first game, prototypes included.. and Freeride Extreme with them.
