How does Michael Know Franklin is breaking into his home?

Recommended Posts

RedDeadRockstar324

So in beginning of game, where Franklin has to “Repo” Michaels sons car........how is Michael already in the car when Franklin drives halfway down the road?? How would Michael have known that Franklin was breaking in?? Was he just camping out in Jimmys car for no reason at all? Or he can magically “teleport” from his home to the car? I dunno.....The numbers just don’t add up there. Doesn’t seem possible.

Why do people keep thinking writers are some dumbasses? Camping out in Jimmy's car for no reason at all? Really? You really think that's what the writers thought of? Come on, man...

Of course Michael didn't know Franklin would come. The reason why Michael was in the car was because he wanted to hide from his family members and get some peace of mind at least for a little while. The moment Franklin gets to the window, you hear Tracey and Jimmy spout dumb, irritating stuff. Now, knowing them, they're obnoxious and irritating like that at home all the time. Could you imagine living in that house even for a day, hearing that crap all the time? Yelling, screaming, nagging, arguing… Oh and by the way, you hear Tracey calling for Michael once Jimmy calls her a bitch. You think that's the only time she's done that? That's probably 50th time that day alone. If I was Michael, I probably would've done the same thing because Jimmy's new car is the last place those two kids of his would go look for him. Plus, the garage is downstairs and all that yelling and screaming doesn't really reach all the way down there, so it's relatively quiet - perfect for Michael to take a nap.

Or you know, you can stick to your ''Michael was camping out in Jimmy's car for no reason'' idea.

Man you're right. At first I thought well he probably heard him sneaking around his house trying every door and quickly made a plan to catch him...but that doesn't explain how he knew the reason he was breaking in was to repo the car, or why he wouldn't warn his family. Bit of a shame because that reveal of him in the back seat is awesome.

Lmao. It's funny because during a certain time in the story you do sometimes see that Michael had been sleeping in his parked car round the corner from his house rather than stand being at home when you switch to him lol.

Up to the player's imagination. Maybe Michael spotted him through the windows when he gets on the property sneaking around. Since nobody robs houses in the broad daylight with people home and no guns he assumes he's here to take the new car (because Michael's car has been around forever and wasn't stolen also it was out in the open so why sneak near the house?) so he quickly runs and hides in the backseat.

Yeah he could've worked out that he was probably there for the car but why would he allow his family to be in danger by not telling them? He definitely didn't tell them, since every family member is just chilling and has a cutscene where they totally freak out if they see him. He could've come in and murdered them while Michael was in the car. I want it to make sense as well because I enjoy the mission and the twist of him being in the car but I do think there's a plot hole there.

I guess it was also convenient that he just happened to be hiding out in the same car that was about to be stolen? and why didn't he react when Franklin started to pull out of the drive way?

Actually there are a couple of other moments like this like when Norton walks into the lounge room like he was just chilling out or how Trevor's able to casually walk into Michael's house for a similar reason. What can we take from this? Michael has some sh*tty security for someone that's supposed to be in witness protection.:p

The worst one for me is the way they get Michael into the morgue in Dead Man Walking. Before the plan has even been discussed Norton literally just bashes him on the head so he's out cold, and he wakes up in there. Like what??? Bashing him on the head like that easily could've killed him, there'd be no guarantee when he'd wake up, and no doctor would think he was dead just because he was passed out.

Again I enjoy the whole thing where they're doing the autopsy and he suddenly jumps up. But it's really complete and utter nonsense . If he'd snuck into a body bag in an ambulance heading for the morgue and lay there pretending to be dead it could've almost been plausible for him to make it inside and to the table. But the knocking him out part was completely unnecessary, and the doctors still would've noticed that he was warm, breathing and had a heart beat pretty quick and not got to the point of cutting into him lol.

Quite simply, Michael was probably just taking a nap in the back of the car to get away from his nagging family. Considering you hear Jimmy and Tracey talking as you break in, there's no way Michael would get peace there, and you'd probably be more likely to look for him in his own car than Jimmy's. The sound of an engine revving and the movement of the car pulling away would be enough to wake him up. I don't think it really takes much to consider this possibility since it's both the most simple and most plausible idea. Having a gun was probably just something Michael always did, or if not just a contingency in case the car got robbed. I'd say the answer is that simple really.

"We can't repo the assets of a dead man, big sittin' chief asshole!"

If he came in and murdered the family, the car would be a big target and Simeon would get in sh*t.

Yeah, it's not as outlandish as the Dead Man Walking thing. But it still would've made more sense and been safer and less potentially traumatic for his family if he'd, say, waited for him in the bathroom and got him there instead of letting him be in the house with his entire family unprotected.

While I think they should've worked out a better explanation for him hiding in the car I'm still glad he was because the first time I played that and he suddenly appeared there it was an awesome moment lol, great surprise.

Michael was probably expecting it the moment Jimmy brought the car home. Here’s a kid without a job spending all his allowance money on weed.

But to know he was coming to the house at that exact moment and be ready hiding in the back seat? I mean I guess he could've had a plan to do that in the event that he was lucky enough to notice the repo guy coming, and was lucky enough to see him out the window or whatever and jumped in the car. But it would still be very risky and pointless to let a criminal break into the house without removing or even warning his family, potentially allowing them to be attacked or at least terrified, when he could have warned them or just confronted him as soon as he came in the house.

I like the mission and I'm glad they did it but it is logically flawed.

There are a few unexplained scenarios throughout story mode.

When Michael’s family leaves and Jimmy takes the his car - where does Michael get his replacement car from.

Did he buy it or loan it?

Why doesn’t he give to Jimmy when he returns?

A bit of a missed opportunity for taking us to the auto dealer website to buy vehicles.

That's an interesting explanation. Theoretically Michael could know Franklin since he has seen him in the cut scene where Franklin repos the first car.

I think that Michael was hiding to catch Amanda and the tennis coach in the act, I assume he saw the coaches pick up out the front of his house when he arrived home.

And hid out in the garage to spy on them, maybe shortly before Franklin turns up one of the house hold goes towards the garage and Michael takes cover in the car because he does not want to be accused of spying on Amanda with out proof of her sleeping about.

We can read too much into anything, somethings are left unexplained to move the story along....

Why does Jimmy’s car get the special treatment of being in a locked garage above the rest of the family?

For that matter, why is it that the whole family is at home but their cars are not?

How does Simeon really know that Jimmy’s car is being kept in a locked garage?

It’s set in America, it’s the GTA world, Michael is paranoid and at that point a former criminal. He also sleeps with a gun on him, so I would be surprised if he didn’t carry a weapon in every moment in his life.

Nah I think he has to have been out of the car, seen Franklin creeping outside the house and got in it. Otherwise he wouldn't know what was going on or to be ready to reveal himself with the gun like that. I think the scenario is already too flawed to make any logical sense anyway though.

Probably because the game is called Grand Theft Auto. For all we know, Michael could have just car jacked some random vehicle and would have kept it as his personal vehicle until Jimmy returns him the Tailgator. Also, the reason why he doesn't give it to Jimmy is because of the fact that he (Jim) calls Sedans (Tailgator) as an old man's car, even after heavily modding it at Los Santos Customs.

Waking in odd places while being drunk, that's more or less like Trevor.

The words "for all we know" is an unexplained assumption in itself. It simply means that some things are best left to imagination.
