the only thing i hope for is that R* doesn´t take the "lazy route" and just make the minimap a 2d texture.

and instead do it properly and 3d model it like the main map.

IF a map expansion in any way shape or form will happen in the future, it will most likely be on the PS5/XBX/PC standalone version on GTA Online.

In the next two hours, not bad. But not expecting them to show GTA. 

Rockstar will show the NG enhanced version on the newswire, soonest after the next DLC has dropped and latest before its release.

The upgraded versions of GTAV were announced through Sony's events twice now, one with PS4 (E3 2014) and the PS5 (June), there's a slim chance they might talk about it.

it's like you've never heard of the scifi genre, it's pretty big and has thousands upon thousands of works since as far back as the early 1900s

While they likely are going after GTA:O (just look at how they said 'no multiplayer' for years & then suddenly the thing got delayed again to add multiplayer) the chance that they will dethrone it any time soon is bscly non-existent, you have to remember that R* has a 7 year lead of "multiplayer content", even if CD Projekt Red secretly has been working on the multiplayer for several years instead of the ~1 year we officially know about, they'd still never reach even half of the content that GTA:Online has, and sure many people will play it and enjoy CP'77, but it wont be like GTA:O for a while (run your own companies, collect 100's of vehicles, play something else every session if u wanted, etc) so people will just play both/jump back and forth between them as each get more updates.

If they wanted to dethrone GTA:O at launch, CP'77 would've been Online-Only and they'd been spending the past 7-8 years on making sure to offer the same types and amount of multiplayer jobs, instead their focus is singleplayer, and they HOPE to one day grow the multiplayer to the size of GTA:O, but getting even close to it in the next 2-3 years? not a chance.

I disagree big time. There’s a better chance than not that the December update will be an Island.

My guess: They add the island in the current gen version, use it for the heist, we all go "oohh ahh, this is fancy, i sure would like to own one of these mansions"

 

Next gen version they expand the island (read: put more stuff on/flesh it out) & first thing they add is buyable mansions.

"We will take your 70 bucks now thank you very much"

 

If not enough people 'bite', second much bigger island a year later, adding even crazier mansions, now with stuff like personal mortar cannons (orbital cannon 2.0 that has less cooldown and can also be shot across the entire map) mk3 bike garage, etc.

It’s as if you didn’t comprehend one thing I’ve been saying, I’m not into sci-fi.  Doesn’t change the fact that no game will ever come close to the realism of GTAV and RDR2, especially RDR2.

Respectfully disagree. People tend to believe we get a completely new addition to the map but Rockstar is very carefull when they choose their wording. In my opinion, we're getting a new building  / underground area for the new heists and that's it. R* has way more resources available for the newest versions of GTA so that's why i think it will be most likely the version for big additions such as a map expansion. But hey, just speculating. Things can happen anytime with Rockstar.

I still don’t see why people think a map expansion is not possible for the next update. Like people really think “an entirely new location” means a new Fleeca bank or something.
 

Not to mention that they said this is going to be the biggest update ever. If anything a map expansion fits perfectly with what it looks like to be one of the last dlcs for ps4/xbone

 

Idk maybe people are just lowering their expectations so they can be surprised if it is a map expansion

My reasoning why it’s more likely than not is because Rockstar really has to do something big with this update. The next-gen systems both drops in a matter of weeks and the next-gen version of GTA Online doesn’t come out until the middle of 2021. If you release a huge update in December you keep a ton of people playing GTA until the new version comes out.
