TBH I think they could possibly add in LC as part of a new heist. They could make a small portion of the map accessible for the heist and Lester could explain that we need to lay low after pulling off the heist,which would be the in-game reason of why we can't return to LC until next gen. This would create hype and it would make people want to transfer over to next gen if they make LC fully accessible in the next gen versions.

My guess is that gta 6 was rebooted around late 2016, early 2017. I disagree that there won't be a gta online 2.0 though. They gotta update the online engine eventually, that would suck if they didn't. 

 

I'm thinking maybe a year after GTA 6 comes out we get online 2.0. it probably will still be called gta online, but your character will be ported over with all their belongings to a new game engine, and the ls map might even be ported over too and run alongside the vice city map. 

 

I'm saying 2016/2017 is when they likely rebooted it because that was also the same time rockstar put a lot more focus on gta online. 2017 was the year we got gunrunning, smugglers run and the doomsday heist.

 

I think gta VI was probably rebooted to better accommodate dlc. hence why there will probably be an online 2.0.

 

of course that's just a guess and I don't know exactly what's going on at rockstar.

Yeah makes sense. It would be a bit cheeky of R* though! You know, having us wait until the end of fall for the next-gen GTAO. I could totally see them doing that. I wonder if we will get a March/April update? That could add more content and features to the new location.

I assume the CnC update. It could be like a Import/Export part 2 type of update. You can use police vehicles to go undercover and steal rival cars and drugs/cargo and bring them back to your business. It could be GTA version's of NFS Hot Pursuit which would be cool and it could be a workaround with everyone protesting anything that has police related to it. IDK if they will do that though.

Edit: I forgot to mention that there are already missions where we break into a police impound lot and steal the vehicles (getaway vehicles setup for casino heist and the "crime scene" and "traffic stop" source missions for vehicle cargo).

The awnswer is dedicated servers...and as far as i know (i don't play RDO) RDO dont have them. And at this point idk why...R* should've learn the lesson already from 5 years of GTAO experience. I think we will get that in GTA VI, GTA is always their best selling title and the one that get more love. I think, or rather, i hope, that they will not screw that.

They will not let you sell in private session bcz they want to to have the change to be blown away in order to lose the profit then you get mad and then you buy a shark card.

The problem with higher levels (legit ones) is that they probably are veterans and very good at pvp and when some players get owned, probably a lot will report you. But the highest lowest thing that some hacker can do to a player is blow up an entire lobby with the name of an innocent player, then everyone will report you, despite you being innocent. That happened to me, i received a message some days ago about: "we are investigating if your cheating....behave yourself..." something in those terms.

Just a tidbit of speculation, but since we're mentioning cut aircraft, does anyone else remember when the Hydra was meant to be added in the Flight School Update but instead ended up being pushed all the way to the Heists? I can't help but wonder if there *might* be a similar situation here with the Sea Sparrow and Cargobob, e.g., maybe Rockstar felt like they're a better fit for whatever the upcoming large DLC is?

The Hydra was actually supposed to be in the og verison of the game (it was seen in the reveal trailer in 2011). I could see us using a cargobob for the new heist. Maybe its the version with the magnet or weaponized.

while i'd love to continue this long journey with my character, i see a huge problem with the economy if they allowed us OGs to transfer our characters to gtao 2.0 with all of our belongings.

 

while it will benefit long time players, it will hurt newcomers, ill be no different than throwing a new player into a gtao lobby in 2020, the wealth gap between players will be overwhelming.

 

i wont mind if they allow us to transfer our characters and maybe all the clothes we own, but money, vehicles, etc should remain bound to los santos for the sake of balance.

In my opinion GTA Online will be the definite online version of Grand Theft Auto. With Rockstar making it stand alone next year, there will definitely not be a GTA Online 2.

Honestly Rockstar should have learned with GTA 4 multiplayer mode. There was hacking/modding/w.e you want to call it there too. The lobby disconnects were also an issue as well a decade ago. But no, they continue the same shoddy BS 10 years later!!

If the next GTA online continue this crap, first off it better be free. And second, I won't invest so much time into it because by that point it'll be obviously clear they just don't care.

yeah, but i bet you will get lower fps in full sessions.

like i run at around 60-75fps in story mode in empty sessions,

but in full sessions, there are times in which i drop down to 35-40.

and if the consoles are only at 30, then those things can drop them way below 30

R* is made up of 1k+ people 

R* hasn’t released sh*t (new game) since 2018 

R* could’ve been working on LC for years

there most certainly is a gta vi being worked on right now. the project americas leak was very credible and it even kinda was referenced in the rdr2 code. there was also the scouting rockstar was doing in miami and the synthwave rights clearing. at least one person accidentally put "gta VI" on their resume also. very likely that gta VI is in the making.

Because appart from the logical reason of having an east coast city right next to a west coast city, the first generation of current gen consoles would go up in flames if they would put LC on the same map.

Well remember they reused that 12 year old gta iv pc tv spot trailer and used it for the gta iv pc "incomplete edition". That's the most effort they have done in a decade about gta iv. Plus you could downgrade the game and get rid of the pesky GFWL. Now you need Steam, silly R* launcher, socialclub account and hope you can can play it without it crashing. And it can not be downgraded without a crack unless your one of the few people to have a backup of the last version. 

 

Having to update the entire map and lock off interiors would take way more time and effort than making small updates for gta to monetize for free money. Plus the current game has way to many scripts running in freemode. And can take a long time to enter/leave interiors with high player counts. Plus many things are designed to work for the current game not another map. Maybe if they used servers and not peer to peer it would easily be possible. Exactly.

 

Something like Catalina is still possible though, because it gives them a lot of freedom with the design so they can work within the limits they have.

You also have to remember that most of the performance problems are comming from first generation current gen consoles while their more powerfull hardware work well. It even works like a charm on a PC that predates the OG relese of gta 5 by 2 years.

That mean a small expansion is still possible.

Something like LC however would break the game even on these systems.

I got the "death from above" thingy and got airstriked by an NPC jet around 20-30 min later.

Most likely because Rockstar has never used that kind of wording just for a new building to rob (doesn't necessarily mean anything of course), and maybe cause Rockstar hyped the Winter update up quite early.
