Fingers crossed they’ll actually add a B-body Impala or something similar this time.

I personally think CnC was just a theory created by "leakers." Based on literally nothing more than a single concept art with a police car on in... something that could be a part of any other theme or adv. mode. Just like they created the narrative/"leak" that gtao has only 1 update left before R* stops supporting it basing it on no real information other then the fact that with each year R* was releasing less and less updates. So they thought "hey, it looks like they are counting down" so they tried to sell that as a leak cause they just loooove to pretend they have some insider knowledge. They just speculating the same way we are. We should believe in every little theory like its a fact.

They know what they are doing and they choose their words wisely. Thats why theres no way that they would say "entirely new location" cause they would know that people will possibly overhype it.  Thats why they never did that before until now. Overhyping something to oblivion only leaves people disappointed no matter what they do. Thats the opposite of good RP.

Isn't GTA 3 Liberty City? It was already remade for GTA 4. If anything they would just slightly upgrade the one from HD universe.

Lol I was telling you guys, sooner of later there will be someone crazy enough to suggest that the new location is just GTA 6 map. I was right! Also even if they will let us transfer our character to the next online game - I'm sure we will be starting with nothing. Part of the fun of those game is the progression. So they might let us recreate our original character in the next game but I'm 100% we will lose everything we had in gtao.

Losing everything we have would be the worst thing that can happen, it’s like getting banned... I’ve spent thousands hours playing not to lose everything I achieved

It will be so much fun if Larry Lawton actually shows up in Heist update and kill Lester and takes in charge of the heist :kekw:

Punch Lester in da face first! 😎

Was playing the first heist once with some friends and when we came out of the apartment block my friend is a bit of a button basher and he was spamming the punch button and knocked Lester completely for six.

Of course we failed the heist immediately but it was soo funny at the time we never restarted it!

Considering it will come in December probably, they have soooooo much time to advertise it. It's Rockstar. Even if they started advertising only week ahead of the update it would get so much attention it's not even funny. So please stop with this nonsense logic of yours that they would hype map expansion and spend so much money on advertisement for almost more than half a year when there is such a better way for a company like them to do it...

Like @Gentle_Shelby said, they don’t need to talk about it right now as we are still months away from December. Hell they can reveal map information before its initial release and I guarantee it will break the internet

You shouldn’t lump the two together.

I agree a new city isn’t happening. Anyone who thinks they are adding a new city like LC of SF is crazy.

A new island is very plausible though. There’s enough empty space in the oceans surrounding LS to make it work. They can base it off Catalina Island and fill it with Mansions/Beach Homes.

I get what you're saying, but equally so many is speculating about some sort of map expansion and all R* has done is teased a future DLC in with info of one before that. This could be R* starting to get the hype ball rolling and as time goes on, they do more to really get the hype soaring.

Imagine if with the coming DLC they throw in a line or 2 on the radio or from an NPC about some new place or something, that'll only see hype further grow, and then when close, R* fully announce it all and bingo, the map expansion has just had near half a year of hype growing and growing to fever pitch, lol.

I'm gonna have to barge into the "mhc no add cause missions" discussion. Can anybody bring up a full list of activities that use the site, so we know if they're potentially expandable in the overall scheme of things?

I only remember:

- High Priority Case, a launch-day mission. Potentially sacrificeable like some of the previously removed missions. (Pickup Sticks, Chemical Extraction, A Boat in The Bay)

- Dispatch V, a mission added in 2018. Potentially sacrificeable, although out of all the new missions from the three bundles (Simeon's, Gerald's and Martin's), it would be the first to get axed and set a precedent.

- A Gang Attack, launch-day. Easy to axe. Around two dozen of them have been axed already.

If anybody can expand my list, you're welcome. Cause so far, none of these activities are that game-critical to stay.

GTA 6 will be a new game... most likely with a new or improved engine. Theres no way they will let you keep ALL the junk from the previous game...

Its like complaining that you lose all the money and your progress from GTA 4 when you starting GTA 5. Also you are not "loosing" anything. You will always be able to just launch GTA V again and join the old online mode. GTA 6 will have its own online mode. GTAONLINE 2.0 or whatever they gonna call it.

At best case scenerio I can see them letting us port out character (recreate it in the new and improved character creator) and MAYBE keep 1 vehicle from a limited list of the old cars that they ported to the next game. Theres no way they would want to ruin their brand new game right away with broomsticks and all the other crap they added over the year.

I always seen it this way:
- out character gets in deep trouble, the government is on to us so we have to run away, change our identity and move to a different city. Thats the start of GTA 6 online mode
- OR we get a new character and its completely unrelated to gtaonline. Thats it.

The gang attack would be the first thing to go since that's a free roam event.

The other two missions would most likely remain but they will revert back to the old Mile High Club before it's completion (which is passable on the basis they've been in game since launch) but the mission would either go but

not sure with the Dispatch mission though equally they could just remove it but would they remember to rename the others? Probably not!

There are also a couple of free roam missions that involve that building so they may have to be redone or dropped too...

You shouldn't lump those two together. LC is a HD universe map thats already there, they have it. SF dosn't even exist, they would have to make it from scratch.

FC, LV, VC - crazy pipe dream that will never happen

LC, NY - unlikely, but still possible

More importantly, what new car manufacturer do you think they’ll add with the summer DLC?

There has been one with the past few as of late like Maxwell (Vauxhall). I’m speculating a French manufacturer to parody Citroen / Renault – the latter have F1 cars too

I know it’s a possibility but I’m still dreaming with R* merging Gta V’s map with Gta VI’s map in one big Gtao, nobody loses anything, we just keep increasing the amount of things we can do in one game.
I don’t know if this happened before with another games (merging old and new online) but if it didn’t I think it will be very positive reputation for R* being the first doing so. I find it unique.

- Casino Heist, Hand Drill Prep Variation

- Smugglers Run Source Mission

- Is it the MHC construction site, though? The wiki's telling me it's the Alta site. It also mentions a non-van variation at Mirror Park, and two van variations at other locations. One could be axed (if i'm wrong on the first statement and it IS indeed MHC site), and you'll still have three left.

- If it's a variation, could be axed, as there's a few others to fall back on. Plus the challenge itself is not really played that much to care.

- Maybe the checkpoints could be deleted? No idea about this one...never played the checkpoint challenges in my life. :yee:

- The wiki mentions that one belongs to a three-mission group, with the other two places being Pac Standard's roof and some hotel in Alta. Sacrificeable.

I'd say these could still be axed, although that's only my, a bit draconian, means-to-an-end, opinion. Maybe the devs think differently.

Hopefully. They once renamed a Wet Work contact mission into Wet Workers, once the Heists came out, so there would be no confusion between the contact mission and the Prison Heist setup mission.

This reminds me of something one of my friends told me once about Monster Hunter. Apparently they reused assets from older games and just put everything into the newer games (before MHW came out).

Since GTA Online is becoming a standalone product next year, I don’t see them creating a GTA Online 2.0 but instead see Rockstar giving Online players the opportunity to go to the map of GTA VI by purchasing GTA VI and linking it with the Rockstar Social Club which would then give Online players access to VI’s map.  I see us having another character transfer in the future as well.  Leslie Bensies said way back in 2013 that the ultimate goal for GTA Online is for players to be able to travel to different cities.

Rockstar knows how to advertise and can basically approach it however they want, knowing that when they really roll it out people will get hyped regardless. This is very true.

However, I think what some people (myself included) don't believe is that Rockstar would give their first real news about a map expansion *in this way*. It's not that it's a low-key and vague announcement, it's that it's literally worded like an afterthought. Long, bitter experience has taught me that when they word something like it's an afterthought, it usually is. They led with "new heists," therefore the heists are going to be the most important aspect of this update. The "new location" is not going to be some vast new playable space loaded with stuff to do. It might be more than an interior, but I doubt it'll be MUCH more.

Would love to be wrong. Am also absolutely convinced that I'm not, unfortunately.

Eh, I guess I can see them porting the map from GTA 5 to GTA 6 online but what would even be the point? Would there be a single person in the world who would still want to go back to the old Los Santos after using the same map for over 7 years? Everyone would just use the new map instead. Seems like a waste of time and resources. And the source code of gta V/online is sooooo messy that I don't see them attaching it to the next game.

I think its way more likely that they will port LC from gta 4 to gtaonline and sell that as a stand alone game until GTA VI(ce city) is released. And at that point no one will care about standalone gtaonline when they have the brand new game with brand new city where everything works better and looks better.

It loads the previous casino I think but I am over 7 months since I last played so if someone knows otherwise feel free to say and let's hope they do remember to correct the mission title, would be a bit of an oopsie if they did not since

everyone would ask what happened to xx mission?

I mean I don't know but if I compare the weight of "Heists" and "entirely new location" it's kinda balanced in that sentence. I don't know where you get that feeling from but that is subjective to some point I guess...

So if they worded it like this.

"the biggest ever update for GTA Online, featuring an entirely new location with our latest take on Heists"  you would believe it's map expansion and the Heists would be just something small? "An afterthought"? Help me understand that logic.

Maybe it's just me over interpreting this, but "entirely" new location. Not just a new location, but entirely. I highly doubt they would have pointed it out like this if it would be just another building. But btw, am I the only one who finds it interesting that they talked about the december update? What's going on here? Rockstar actually talking about what they do? Excuse me?

Summer update will be like Southern San Andreas Super Sport Series. And comes out 11/13 august.
Winter update will be like Doomsday Heist. And comes out 10/15/17 december.

I mean I don't know but if I compare the weight of "Heists" and "entirely new location" it's kinda balanced in that sentence. I don't know where you get that feeling from but that is subjective to some point I guess...

It's definitely subjective, won't argue otherwise. But to me, that sentence is really weird if the new location was something major like a map expansion or a new city. Heists are old news. We have seven of them (nine if you count Doomsday as three, or even eleven if you also count the three casino approaches separately).  Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have more. I like them. But why start with "our latest take on [thing people were excited for many years ago]" and bury the lede of "P.S. a map expansion"?

I just feel like if this update was really going to be something as colossal as a new map, or a huge addition to the existing map, this announcement would read more like:

"The biggest ever update for GTA Online, expanding the world far more than we've ever attempted"

...or something like that. They wouldn't even mention heists, or it would get tossed in at the end ("...featuring new heists, new missions, and lots of other new content"). Even the most vague version of this initial announcement, if it was for a map expansion, I feel like it would be structured entirely the other way around. Because that would be easily the biggest news ever dropped on this game... ever. (And yes I know they said "biggest ever update," but they've said that lots of times about lots of non-map expansion updates.)

This is why I think it might be something like a mid-sized private island. Which I realize makes no in-world sense, but a lot of stuff they've added does not.
