I don't think new location would be something separate from LS, like Yankton. Would that be another session ? Mission only ? It just doesn't make sense.

I Think its going to be another structure... But its not going to be a property, hence the use of the word location and not property

 

I genuinely believe it may be the mile high club building.... Due to its sheer size i think thats why they said "location"... Maybe they saw how succesfull the casino was and was like "Lets finish that giant eyesore"

 

And before you mention gang attacks, theyll probably just delete them from the area along with any other freeroam mission

What do I think it will be then? Something more like the casino. A pretty big, fun addition to the map that we do a heist in and has maybe some other activities associated with it. That's it.

You have a point, but, in the other hand, they need to make very good dlc's in order to make people buy the game again, or even, a PS5. xD Heists can be a good way to introduce a new city....bcz, why not? Seems a easy way to go. Later, after the heist in the ny city, the can go the path of: "why not expanding the criminal empire to other city, since it was already scenario of a criminal interprise of ours (heist)?". Then agaih, the too much work or little reward would be truth if was the case of not adding the game to a new console, there, i think the reward is a little bit better. Bcz all of this is curious...they never used the word "new location". and location have more meaning geographically speaking than just a new building in the same map. Idk, no one knwos, we just need to see and stop speculating bcz without anymore hints we will not know what they're talking about.

Which would be a massive city full of things that 40% of people couldn't fully enjoy bcz the gambling restrictions. Sorry to be kind of snob, but would Las Venturas had another interesting things rather casinos?

You make a good point, I have friends from countries who can't spin at the casino etc and it is very frustrating for them. I think Vegas would be a fun place to explore regardless as it has so many unique sights, but I never played San Andreas so maybe it sucked there. Maybe somewhere like a version of Disneyworld would be cool. We need something totally different to what is on the current map.

If there's going to be a map expansion to another city, i can almost assure for the logical point of view, that would be Liberty City (bcz the city is already there from IV's and only needs some polishments to make it up-to-date in terms of graphics or North Yankton, a easier option but again, so small that 1) there's nothing that interesting there and 2) they probably would need to make new parts of the map which makes it a lot harder than rework the LC map, in order to fill the map with new things (NY probably have the size of Sandy Shores and Paleto combined, which is not that much).

Edit: what if new islands in Los Santos? But then again...islands for a new heist? Only if it's a big ass underground facility, then, would make sense the term "new location" as a new building and not a new map and somehow a naval dlc, would in fact to be, a new kind of heist.

Yeah I can’t believe people think we are getting Vegas or LC lol.

 

If that was going to happen they would just wait for PS5 to drop at this point. Even on PS5 I think a new city being added is a stretch. 

 

I think best case scenario the December Heist DLC takes place in a mission only version of North Yankton. Honestly, I think even that’s a stretch. 
 

Rockstar adding a new island that was have to rob would be interesting but once again...stretch. What exactly would we be stealing from an island anyway? A rich guys car collection? I guess that could be cool if done right.

 

Mile High Club...highly doubt that happens. But that’s at least plausible.

 

They described this as the biggest DLC ever. I do wonder if this is the DLC we could finally see Mansions. As far as my actual prediction as to what and where we will be heisting...maybe the IAA building? That seems underwhelming though.

I fixed this dude's air conditioner who says his brother's wife has a cousin who has a friend that works at Rockstar's New York office. According to him, the new heist location will be in a yet to be added structure that will either be just north of the city or on the east coast. That structure that will likely start "construction" in the summer update using props that can be changed via tunables. We will also have to buy another property to launch the heist of the new structure. He didn't know anything about garage space though, so that didn't help.

lets look at the evidence the biggest ever dlc to online a new location rockstar has never in 7 years mentioned a new location for a building . 

and yan pretty much confirmed a map expansion and they have worked on a lc dlc in 2014

But i am sure it will be some kind of map expansion.

As much as tis is a joke post, I really would like if rockstar teased the upcoming “M E G A” update in this smaller summer one in some way, seeing as we’re already closer to a winter update at a summer update time than any previous year

I just can't see a map expansion happening 7 years later... right before next gen's arrive. I can see a refreshment of the current map, i.e. progression of the existing map by having construction sites finished, maybe new ones, mansions finally arriving. Or, maybe aliens.

The solution back then was have the islands sold to us by Bogdan and have them behave like Yachts. They only appear in an allocated position at a certain area around the map when a player spawns in the lobby who owns one.

Hopefully they would be not as useless as yachts

Everything that gets added to the map is an expansion to it lol but yeah what makes you so sure that it´s not LC or North Yankton or any other completely new map in GTA Online? What "map expansion" are you thinking of? An island for exmaple?

Imho new location can be just some vault added anywhere in the map, bending the story merryweather or whoever storing some secret reserves, with ignoring story there is alot possible.

Still taking "road trips" from city to city was one of my preferred past times in that game and it would be nice to do it again in HD. 

Gotta remember we can also see nearly all of the V map at the same time, just some tall hills blocks it off. Map size alone isn't what is important. The scale the maps are at is more importantt. Yes the sa map had the fog but it still is a big map. It takes nearly the same amount of time to fly a hydra across both maps, and takes 2.5 more minutes to drive around the sa map than the V map.

Alot of that was due to how windy the roads were,

The old maps hid alot behind wall and made you drive around them.

A little bit like how the very top of the map (I cannot remember the name of the place) is seperated by the mountain. I feel that this area has its own feel dispite being so small.

The mountain really helps here as aircraft can see over these walls making things feel smaller.

 

Red Dead has much more of this, being mostly on foot or horse,

GTAs struggle will be between foot, vehicle and environment.

 

VR gameplay seems to be showing off small environments, clearing shelves etc, (HL Alyx).

I do not know how this would apply to anything in the future for GTA.

 

The advancement in GTA V seems to be the sprawl, and having to drive to a place.

Authough, I do wish that there was more of a sprawl in the city itself; I have heard that in real life, a large area of LA keeps going for some distance.

 

Perhaps the next game will be more of a mix of the two styles, or more of a sprawl.

I do wish that GTA V was more inhabited in the middle, and that there were shops that sold different things.

That (clothes) shops were different in every place and sold different things.

That gang members would have different guns in different places, something to collect.

 

I feel that any new map expansion would have to continue on the same theme, and must feel as the current map does.

Not to take the credit for it but probably me. Tho I'm sure someone on the internet had the same idea before me, thats for sure. But I was the one who started spreading it around here (around 2015-2017)

First we pitched naval dlc with upgraded yachts. But later I had the idea that a small island could work the same way as a yacht so why not? That would be way cooler than a yacht and its a perfect place for a small mansion. Also R* loves to take inspiration from PC mods and people been making those kind of islands since gta San Andreas:

Yeah its annoying, but you can still pretty easily bypass it with free VPN. I know it works on PC but I heard there are ways to do it on a console as well. I just launch VPN before starting gta, click online, wait around 10s and I can turn the VPN off again (cause the game only checks for your location when you launch the game)

When they released it the yacht was the only location with a helpad. But yeah, now its useless.

Tho Yachts would still be great if they upgraded them with all the new features from other dlcs.

- command center from arcades
- minigames from casino and arcade
- mini golf (where you hit targets in water)
- combining nightclub djs with pethouse party
- boats customization
- spawn point for amphibious aircrafts 
- more missions than just the Piracy Prevention
- new liveries
etc.

Someone even had the idea of combining a yacht with a submarine
