GTA 5 Online Game Not Saving

So I was playing GTA for a solid 5 hours without any stops. I got myself more RP and a few new vehicles. I wanted to hop sessions so I did. Everything saved as normal and I continued playing. 

 

It got to the point where I wanted to stop playing for the night but was unsure how to save the game since I encountered a problem where the game did not save before, so, I was told that swapping to story mode would auto save the game, I was wrong.

 

I entered and left story mode and was loading into online. Then I noticed that my RP and money had changed and the game DID NOT SAVE.

 

why Rockstar games? why?
