STNeish
So, I recently picked up the Moonshiner role, and made my first Moonshine delivery tonight. So, not wanting to damage anything and lose funds (since I spent $50 making the stuff so I could sell it for $37), I went carefully and relatively slowly. However, I couldn't take my time, because I was given only 6 minutes to go half way across the Heartlands. A short way there, I noticed a roadblock, so I stopped, dismounted and sniped the agents down. Carrying on, a group of 5 riders came after me, so I had to stop again and take care of them (since I can't risk going off the road and damaging the shine). Finished them and 3 seconds later there were 5 more. Finished them and 3 seconds later there were 5 more. Finished them and 3 seconds later there were 5 more. Finished them and 3 seconds later there were 5 more. Finished them and 3 seconds later there were 5 more. Finished them and 3 seconds later there were 5 more. This went on and on and on until I finally did reach the buyer, but there was naturally damage and my payout was even LESS. Is this NORMAL? Am I guaranteed to be assaulted by armies every time I try to make a delivery?
Hiply
No, you're not guaranteed to be assaulted by hordes of Agents. I play at max honor and have been waved through their checkpoints more often than I've been stopped...and of the times I've been stopped and checked I've had to go to guns only a handful of times (less than 5), the rest of the time they just make a show of checking and tell me to get moving. That includes every delivery from R1 to R20 'shiner and current. Does honor make a difference? I have no quantifiable evidence, but anecdotally my experience suggests it might. Now stopping ahead of time and wasting the Agents at a checkpoint? You're pretty much guaranteed to get more on your tail. STNeish
Ah, I wasn't aware they might wave me through. I'll try that next time. Thanks Hiply

AmyStone
You might want to think about moving your shack to Tall Trees. That's where mine is and deliveries are really short. The furthest I ever have to go is Thieves Landing. Only takes a few minutes. ventogt, kcole4001 and C.E.Bolton
RyuNova
In my opinion, you don't make any serious money until you unlock the ability to make Strong Moonshine so selling is pointless, just spam the Story Missions and power through the Role unlocks until you do. Even then you unlock a later ability to make even more money(or you make Moonshine faster), I can't remember what it actually does. Basically you won't make any serious money until you unlock all Role rewards and buy the upgrades. When you sign on go and look at your seller list and see if anyone wants any speciality Moonshine, if they do look at the timer at the bottom and see if its close to resetting. If it is then leave it and let it reset, you should now have over an hour before it resets again, choose a speciality buyer and make Strong Moonshine and then come back in forty-five minutes and sell it to the same buyer. You will make between two hundred and two fifty for forty-five minutes of Passive "work". If you miss the timer then leave it and let it reset to refresh the buyers and one will eventually want to buy your speciality Moonshine again. f*ck Bert Higgins. If you keep on top of it you can make good money for basically doing f*ck all, one of the speciality Moonshine takes nothing but stuff you can buy from the store and pays good money. The biggest tip I can give you for delivering is to go slow and steady, get your horse upto a trot and equip and aim a weapon and the games AI will take over and drive the wagon perfectly for you, dodging obstacles. When you come across Revenue Agents don't shoot them immediately, ride into the marker and listen. Sometimes they will let you pass without incident, other times they will demand to inspect the wagon. Let them but keep an eye on the guy with the clipboard, if you see him drop his clipboard immediately jump off the wagon and find cover away from it and kill everyone. After this you will be chased. If he does not drop his clipboard you will pass the inspection and be allowed to continue with no-one chasing you. CosmicBuffalo
A good tip for moonshine is to select a weapon and hold down aim and speed up the wagon by taping the accelerate button...make sure to not hold the direction...the wagon will follow the yellow line and you can aim at the attackers, it will slow down at rivers and turns, but bridges bumps will cause you a problem. I am guessing you will have more than enough time doing this, and 75% of the time will complete without losing a bottle. Riding up to the road blocks can be a bit tricky, dont aim directly at the agents or they will shoot you...its best to manually ride up to them when you get close. You can also get your character hammered drunk at the bar and take a ride and the revenue agents will comment on your sobriety. Spoiler I dont know about the heartlands...I have tall trees because it closest to the great plains which is the best area. I never run out of time taking my wagon to its spot ever. Sometimes the mcfarland ranch bridge or theives landings npcs can cause me to lose a bottle. Edited May 9, 2020 by CosmicBuffalo

Thanks There is a trick that is supposed to work all the time, but maybe it's somewhat honor dependant, but part of it is key to doing shine (and even trader) deliveries: when you keep aiming your gun(s) the wagon will maintain speed and follow the yellow mission course as RyuNova said, leaving you free to concentrate on defending your wagon, just make sure you haven't left any waypoints of your own plotted on the map, that will mess up the AI following the proper trail. The shine trick is to aim behind you when approaching the roadblock, start looking back before you get withing visual range and DO NOT look in the roadblock direction. If it works, the revenuers won't spawn and no riders will chase you so you'll have an easy time of it. I've tried it twice (best used when the daily is for shine delivery with 5 minutes left) and the first time t worked perfectly, but the second time the agents were there and demanded I stop, so I slowed down, bailed off the wagon and whacked them all. I normally just stop the wagon before they start to address you (with a little practice you'll know how close you can get), get well away from the wagon - you don't want stray shots hitting it - and take out the agents, loot them and the white wagon, which has a lockbox in it with a gold watch, moonshine, cocaine gum, and regular revolver cartridges. The get back on the wagon, set the speed, and wait for the pursuers who usually come from behind. You don't need to stop to take the out, using deadeye helps a lot, since you're moving and so are they, so make sure your deadeye is full, and preferably got a gold ring. Drinking the strong shine in your bar, or using tonics will help here. Note: I almost always loot the revenuers at the roadblock, they will very often have collectible alcohols on them, usually decent money, and sometimes treasure maps. STNeish
I always stop to take out pursuers, whether just on horseback or in a wagon. If I don't, and try to keep moving, my horse ALWAYS runs into something, or up a cliff, or OFF a cliff... or something. I'm on PC, so I have to use mouse free aim with no assist, and even deadeye is awkward because it paints targets all over... everywhere but where I want it to. I usually end up shooting their shoulders, the horse, their hands... everything but the headshot I'm trying to get. Better overall if they just let me by. They haven't yet, but maybe one day they will.

They haven't yet, but maybe one day they will. I'm on PC as well, just keep aiming continuously using Rt mouse and the wagon drives itself. (you have to HOLD aim the entire time you're driving) As far as the pursuers go, taking down their horse is often as good as a kill, if you're traveling at a decent speed they'll be out of range before they can do any damage. I usually use revolvers, but if you use a rifle, just take out the horse and you're all good. Edited May 10, 2020 by kcole4001

jazzbone
My shack is in the bayou and the delivery locations offer plenty of time. The drop locations are to bars in Saint Denis and Rhodes or to a house in the country. Lower than full speed, staying on the roads, and going slow on bridges is essential. Roadblocks and agents: at the start i would dismount, move in close, use a shotgun, and loot the bodies every delivery. That method guarantees pursuit by agents on horses where my pump shotgun works well in ending the pursuit. Now i zip past and hope for no pursuit. Maybe it is my high honor that keeps times of pursuit less than times of no pursuit. Edited May 11, 2020 by jazzbone
