I think it depends on how ridiculous some people have taken it. I assume the ones who only did it to earn 100 millions or less received a money wipe, while the others who were making over 100 millions up to trillions received a complete character reset.

Another factor is that I believe this glitch has been going for quite a while, so the records could have been focused on everything that happened since last month, take legit players who are crazy enough to make a hella lot of money into consideration and now Rockstar have to separate them from the actual glitchers. I think that's why Rockstar went easy on the ones who made less than 100 million or 50 million from this glitch.

Say this glitch popped out last week, it would have been easier for Rockstar to separate the legit players from the glitchers.

Still working 🤔🤔🤔 , They didnt patched it so people can do it All over again , People who got money wiped will do it again also people who got banned they will make new accounts and do it again but this time they will be smart they will buy everything or they will keep the cash on the second character So weird rockstar only check main character but they didnt  check the second character 😂😂😂

Wasn't it with the last wave of character transfers if it was anything above $700 million or more it would fail the transfer. And they wiped those players money only if they had more than that and transferred during a certain time frame.

 

Transferring cheated account from 7th gen when the game was only 3.5 yeard old? Money wipe only, got to keep character, level, property, vehicles. 

Doing a exploit in a 6.5 year old game? Reset everything to 0.

Hmm which one of these was more harmful and done by more players and which one got the worse consequence?

Before the chips glitch there was a sptomp frozen money were anyone can buy everything for free this glitch still working from February 2020 untill now if they was doing their job and patched it there wasnt any chips glitch because in order to do the chips glitch you need first to do single player to multiplayer frozen glitch

I know that in the past, I had an account transferred from 360 that I paid for and I specifically asked for it have low rank.  I think 120 was what I requested.  My friends all got level 800s.  I think I requested 700 million and they all got billions.  Their accounts were money wiped, but mine wasn't.  I actually have no idea how that account survived though because I actually got a message saying "we adjusted your account."  So, I walked around and thought $25 dollars was worth it for a few months, then I was urged to log back on the account by a friend a week or two later and I still had all the money.  So, @Fun 2 you are probably right, the degree matters...if it was really easy to do, it still seems unfair to reset an account that is from pre2015.  The account still has like 500mil.  I just checked it.

I can only imagine now R* have targeted this glitch, although they are yet to patch it, they have an algorithm set that will flag those that did it or do it again easier. Like Fun said, there's probably a threshold as to what R* are targetting too.

Well, whether a severe punishment is needed depends on the glitch, gaining millions upon millions is taking it too far which is why a complete character wipe is needed.

Money glitchers ARE cheaters, they have 100s of millions of dollars and they were able to skip the entire game while achieving that money. Which means they have the same items, cars, planes, ect.. that I grinded my ass off for.

 

A majority of them spend their time griefing entire lobbies because they have nothing else to do, and they have no respect for what it takes to build up your bank account legit. Making the game unplayable for many new players.

 

Hell there's a few of them in this thread literally bragging like they somehow accomplished something by cheating billions of dollars (and not getting caught)  like we're supposed to be somehow impressed. 

 

Everyone is perfectly in their rights to do what they want to do, you bought the game, do whatever you want with it. Just know that whoever has glitched millions into the game, I hope your entire account gets wiped.

I don't agree that how to "make money effectively" is hidden information. There's plenty of Youtubers out there now with great advice, guys like Tylarious, and The Professional have really good guides even for beginners and there's a lot of good guides you can find on Reddit as well.

 

 

Most glitchers don't want to do anything, that's the problem. They want to load into the game with billions so they can buy whatever they want and spend their time griefing other players with it.

 

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way with an MMO, either put in the time, buy shark cards, or be poor. I had no idea the cheating community was this bad on GTA, I swear back in the PS3 days it wasn't this bad.

 

As it is we have threads and posts full of people not only bragging about cheating but putting down people that played the game as intended all while blaming daddy Rockstar.

I was more referring to the "console ban" wish, such punishment would take it a bit far unless we are talking about repeat offenders. A character wipe is enough to serve as a serious warning.

I mean hidden in the game. What new player would know a fully upgraded bunker is the best early-game investment one can make? Who would know about the 32 cars "trick" with the I/E warehouse? Instead of spending hours learning how to grind they can watch one money glitch video.

Money has been meaningless in this game since the rusty trambone horn glitch.  There are plenty of other objectives that are more meaningful than money in GTAO.  First, there are in game trophies inside each and every business. Second, there are challenges, mastermind, time trials, etc. Third, collectibles, shirts and clothes, tattos, secret missions. Fourth, self made goals such as rank, obtaining all of x, car collecting, race wins, dm wins, hell I even came across competitive golfers and darters.  Even lowly and despised KD means more than in game $.  You know what all my friends did, went back to their first accounts that had millions still.  Some glitched millions on their transfers because why not, the account had rare items and other little goodies.  No one cares about money in this game. The only people that do are self rightous people claiming im legit..well good for you, I am trying play video games and have fun, not have a 2nd job where I map out every second to make the most fake money.

 

That account with all those millions, is rank 145...I ranked it a whole 25 ranks because it didnt mean anything to me.  I quit this game because R* added unwinnable challenges and I was bored after 4 years.  

 

Wiping a player for glitching money is far too harsh and those people will not be back unless they cheat again.  Wiping a player for cheating using a mod menu is understandable.

Oh, they shouldn't be banned right away, that said a money wipe isn't going to do anything as they already have 100s of millions laundered. I think the character reset however is perfectly justified for a glitch like this.

There's hundreds of videos of all the things you named, anyone can just type it into Reddit/YouTube just as easy as they can type in GTA money glitch.

 

It's the same thing I did 6 months ago as I was a complete newbie and I had to learn it as it went along.

That is a load of crap. I have glitched well over 100 million over the years and I actually play the game. I destroyed cargo once when an a**hole was killing me for no reason and went after cargo once when I didn't see that someone I had been fighting a while had cargo on them but apart from that I never touch peoples cargo. I do kill players but when I feel like it I go into a public lobby and wait for someone to kill me or I buy one crate and drive around with it until someone comes to destroy it. 90% of the time I play contact missions, LTS, the casino heist, go on a cop killing rampage, buy and customize cars or do the Bennys merge glitch and change Bennys wheels on all my cars.

A million times this. The best way to make enough money in this game is businesses but that is not fun for me. I hate doing the same few missions over and over again with crates and I/E. Fun for me is doing everything this game has to offer. When I have 100 million of glitched money I can spend a week making bugger all waiting ages for people to join and doing contact missions and LTS. I prefer to sell my bunker once a week and do VIP work a few hours a day when it is 2x money instead of doing that all day everyday and not playing the low paying game modes or just screwing around.

 

Glitchers may be a apart of the reason the prices of stuff in game are so high but sharkcards are mostly to blame for that. When the Osiris came out if people didn't buy sharkcards to buy it I am positive the T20 and all future supercars would have gottten cheaper until R* were happy with the amount of people that bought a supercar with sharkcards. What is the point in have $3 million cars if people aren't buying sharkcards to pay for them?

No it won't. Take a gander at the sinful forum and see how many people are just gonna keep doing this same glitch over and over until it either gets patched or rockstar gives up. The fact that money glitches are so rampant is in the end rockstar's fault, not the players. I'd put money that if they used actual servers instead peer to peer, most of these money glitches wouldn't work. But they cheap out and people take advantage. You can't fault people for taking advantage of broken aspects of a game that work in their favor. Up until recently, rockstar didn't seem to give a sh*t because how many other money glitches went unpunished? So why not glitch if nothing's gonna happen? 

 

Until rockstar actually fixes their game (which ain't gonna happen because they don't touch old code) people are gonna glitch. Account reset? It only takes less than 15 minutes to do the current frozen money glitch. They could be back where they were before the wipe within in days, if even that long.
