Tsloa
i usually get ~40-60 FPS but sometimes the fps will randomly drop to about 10 FPS, this happens on online and singleplayer and i cant find a consistant way to get it back or to stop if from happening in the first place, it will sometimes fix if i tab out and back in and it will sometimes fix its self if i 'play' though it. but im sure as you know 10FPS is not playable and its very annoying. while this is happening my cpu and gpu usage are about 30percent. ive made a rockstar support request but nobody has gotten back to me yet. any help? CN810
On PC in my experience strange things happen if you alt-tab in and out too often. Try to do it less, and also turn down grass and shadows to generally help performance.
Rotorhead359
You have a CPU bottleneck. Set Extended Distance Scaling to minimum in Advanced Graphics, maybe population density too. Your CPU isn't very fast for modern standards. It may have 8 cores, but GTA V can only load 4 cores to 100%, that's why it is not using 100% of your CPU. If you look at per core usage, you'll find that at least one of them is constantly pegged at 100%, that is the bottleneck. Modern games (DirectX12 / Vulkan) will be able to use 100% of your CPU and produce higher framerates, unfortunately GTA V was based on DirectX10/11 with 2-4 core CPUs in mind.
