Synthetic_Soul
Okay, so first I’d just like to say this is my first created thread, and apologies if this has been created before I looked through a bunch of past pages and I didn’t see one which surprised me (unless I missed it.) So I just figured I’d make one! Anyone with love for writing (even if you don’t think you’re that good, it doesn’t matter.) feel free to join in! Ive been writing a bunch of stories lately, and I’m currently working on a 3 chapter short story following Spoiler Dutch and Micah after the events of 1899. So I’ll surely be sharing much more here in the future, but for right now... heres a “story” I put together rather quickly last night...so it may not be my best but I got the idea to write one from the perspective of a newspaper article reporting a encounter I had in valentine. enjoy! I look forward to seeing what y'all have to share! New Hanover Gazette article: Spoiler DRUNKENNESS LEADS TO BRUTAL MURDER IN THE STREETS OF VALENTINE After a three day bender in Smithfield’s saloon, in the early morning hours of last Tuesday notorious outlaw Arthur “Mad Dog” Morgan was seen stumbling from the premises in an irate manner. The following is the transcribed report of local witness R.L. Dalton owner of “Dalton’s guns and engravings” #2 Main Street Valentine N.H. ”I was just getting ready to open up my shop, when I seen him fumble his way past my door using the frame to steady himself. That man... he spends a lot of money in here, hell he bought half my entire stock of ammo just last week so...regardless of his past dealings...he’s just plain good for business. When I saw him in such a state I opened my window...you know? just to keep an eye on him ... him and that pesky paper boy... but that’s a story for another time...he exchanged some words with a young woman as he walked past Keane’s saloon. Even managed to sound quite charming at first, I believe it was something to the effect of “ma’am you’re looking lovely today...” ”But before she could even manage a blush he finished with an unceremonious “...to the blind that is!” and boy! That girl came down off of that porch like a strike of lightning and slapped him clear ‘cross the muzzle. Would have been quite the laugh too if’n of course in turn it hadn’t caused him, in his inebriated state to retaliate with an uppercut strong ‘nough to lift a donkey of its feet...by the time she regained consciousness Deputy Tyler he had heard the commotion and come ‘round to investigate. Words were exchanged... Mr. Morgan, whew! he was so drunk it was hard to make heads nor tails of it, and then bam! Within seconds he had overpowered the poor young deputy like a roping calf, pulled that hunting knife of his that I had just engraved for him a few days prior, a beautiful piece ya know, inlaid with a gorgeous nature scene...but anyway ...well...what happened next I dare not speak... that poor man, I just had to look away! but, I did hear that Morgan feller yelling: “it WAS a three star pelt sheriff! My knife was the only option! Heh...heh...heh” As he hightailed it out of town. Amidst a hail of gunfire.” What exactly he meant by that...I’m sure I just don’t know...folks these days! I but I guess, that’s just the way it is.” Valentine Sheriff “Curtis Malloy” wishes to make it known to the people of New Hanover that wanted outlaw Arthur “Mad Dog” Morgan has once again muddied our trails with the blood of the innocent. If spotted approach with CAUTION! He is a known member of the Van der Linde Gang; a man of very large stature, wears a leather gamblers hat wrapped with a bullwhip and sports a notoriously vicious and intemperate disposition. with noted strong connections to Dutch Van der Linde himself. A Bounty of $5,000 dollars has been placed on Morgan and many of his cohorts “Dead or Alive” with heed: He is armed and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. If any brave soul should attempt to capture or kill this scoundrel of a man, The debt will be made payable by way of the Valentine Sheriffs Office, or by wire from any telegraph station east of the Montana river. [in fine print] Small caliber recommended as positive identification is required for payment. Below you’ll find a colorized photograph of the unfortunate incident that occurred this past Tuesday. Captured by an incredibly brave citizen of Valentine who at this time and rather understandably, wishes to remain anonymous.
