Should GTA 6 be more realistic or more arcade?

Saw a video earlier that said that the ESRB  gave Cyberpunk 2077 a M rating because it will, among other things, feature customizable genitalia.

OK. could that be a possibility for GTA 6?

I'd like to see a fully customizable player character bodywise. But this?

It's just cyberpunk ;)

I agree with this. One of my gripes with GTA V is the ability to carry every single weapon at once. That doesn't mean the game can't have a large arsenal of weapons, but I feel more tactics and strategy should be encouraged instead of arming yourself to the teeth like Rambo. I also feel it makes certain weapons feel more valued and more appropriate for different situations than just whipping any gun at any given time. A lot of GTA V's guns just ended up feeling a bit too "samey" without much of a difference between them.

When it comes to guns feeling, they need to put more recoil in GTA VI.

A lot of GTA V's guns just ended up feeling a bit too "samey" without much of a difference between them.

In saying that RDR2's inventory system wasn't perfect though. Infact it was sometimes annoying forgetting to grab a gun off my horse and finding myself without one and having to go back, but I get what they were trying to achieve. A few minor tweaks would make it perfect. The inventory system in GTA games is severely outdated and needs a freshen up.

I would also like to be to carry health, food etc like the Red Dead games instead of trying to find health packs or whatever.

Exactly what I mean. I feel our safe houses should have some sort of armoury where we can choose which weapons to equip on our person and store in our vehicles. Then obviously from our vehicles we can change what we're carrying - exactly as you say this would just encourage more tactical thinking depending on what situations we're going into or what activities we're gonna be doing.

You're right in V's weapons feeling samey as well. It's like they all just had that same shiny, new tactical feel about them - they didn't feel like street weapons. I think on the whole not much attention was given to weapons in V but considering how well they were done in RDR2 I'm optimistic about how they will go about weapons in VI. One thing from RDR2 I'd love to see in VI is the weapon maintain feature - I absolutely loved just being able to look at and inspect my weapons up close, especially after I've customised them and given them all these extra details. It was just a small but satisfying detail that enabled you to really appreciate the weapons and made them seem like something valuable as opposed to just a skinned object used to get rid of enemies. People complained about having to clean your guns but again I never had a problem with this and felt it added to the game rather than took anything away - cleaning your weapons was again another way of making them seem like something more than just a generic object or tool.

Agree with carrying food and such as well. It doesn't have to be exactly same as RDR2 with a sachel but they certainly need to give us an item inventory with food, cigarettes, drink etc.

A simple substitution for this would probably be a backpack or something more contemporary for a GTA game, but being able to carry items is a must to me since basically most open world games have something like this now.

With food? Not really, in GTA you have tons of places where you can eat/drink something including hotdog stands ;)

Just to mention few

Cluckinbell

Burger shot

Well stacked pizza

24/7 shops

Hotdog stands

We have even bunch of gas stations if they would like to introduce fuel system (even that could be nice addition if balanced properly).

We mean in a sense of being able to replenish health cores on the go like how you can do in RDR2.

Storing weapons in trunk would better suit Mafia games tbh

When I try to picture a GTA protagonist with a backpack or some sort of "Bauer Bag" I just see a Watch Dogs 2 level hipster character. I'm not even one who usually cares about the wardrobe in most games but it's damn hard to make a hipster look cool.

Yeah, to me, GTA games are never really so difficult that you need to replenish health mid-mission. I think just stop stopping at a place you listed on the way works best. Get rid of regenerating health and the ability to heal yourself on the fly and missions might actually have some weight to them again.

Plus, needing to stop at these places to heal would give the world a more tangible interactivity that the series could really use.

Having a back pack does not make you a hipster. RDR2 was the first game to implement cores and due to their popularity it is inevitable that they will be included in GTA VI - therefore items to top them up on the fly will be needed. I personally think there will be something to carry items but it may not necessarily be a back pack - pockets could possibly be used for specific items.

a duffel bag would be my solution for weapons. backpack for items? what kind of items do you need in a GTA game? I mean they can add an option to put on a backpack if you need to go collect something but you dont need to have it all the time.

They should have the protag switch between the 3D and HD universes! In 3D all arcadey. HD all simulation, GTAIV like driving, autoaim off, and inconsistent auto and manual transmission depending on which car you steal.

I cant see them for a second making the next gta more arcade. I think its clear from red dead 2 that they want to create a realistic and immersive world. I think thats a key part of there whole Philosophy when making a game. So i dont think they will go in the opposite direction when it comes to the next gta.

More realistic.

V is a cartoon, and I hate it so much.

The balance found in TBOGT seems to fit best. IV/TLAD was too serious for some and V took it too far into the opposite direction, and GTA Online well, that want's to be a weird hybrid of GTAV and Saints Row with none of the actual things that make Saints Row work.

Completely agree. Games that mix both elements well are fantastic (i.e. San Andreas, Saints Row 2). Too realistic and you get games like GTA IV, which while good it leaves out a lot of fun stuff. Too arcadey and you get a game like Saints Row 3 which is... yeah.

GTA IV only ever feels realistic when it comes to environmental details and such. I don't feel R* were trying to make it a super realistic game replicating real life to its fullest extent.

Even still I would rather something like than the Saints Row games that are too whacky and stupid that it's impossible to get away from it. This is why GTA VI should have an outer coating similar to GTA IV, RDR2 etc yet at its core it's still fun to play. I would rather a game that's intended to be taken seriously most of the time yet it still allows room for "fun" than the other way around.

More realistic. I’m ok with SOME arcade elements, just not a whole lot. However, I do NOT want GTA VI to be cartoonish.

This is the problem with Cyberpunk. It is massively overhyped. I get constantly pummeled on reddit for trying to keep people's expecations low. People are saying it's the most advanced customisation system ever.

Yet here at 7.48 - highlights a simple 1-5 slide bar system that is less detailed than most annual sports games. So yeah.

It's the same for interiors, I constantly see comparisons to GTA V and how GTA is empty. I have no idea why people are comparing Cyberpunk to a game that was out two years before Witcher 3 that was made for PS3. Sure Cyberpunk will be detailed, it'd be bad if it wasn't in 2020. But again people aren't being realistic, people are saying everything will be enterable. When again those demo's showcase driving, and almost every building the car drives passed is just a flat texture like GTA is.

It should be as arcade as 1980's Super Mario Bros.

In this era, how "arcade" can you even go with these kind of real life -based games, without them looking completely ridiculous or without going full Saints row? Most stuff in the latest R* games, like the characters and maps, aim to absolute realism in design wise, so as the graphics get even more advanced, wouldn't it look really weird, if the extremely real life looking characters in an extremely real life looking environment would move and act around even slightly arcade? Would you start getting a some sort of "uncanny valley" effect, that you get from watching movies with CGI, stuff looks real, but something is just off? Would some game developers like R* need to stop aiming for the most real life looking graphics, in order to maintain comfortable gameplay and controls?

People were whining about this when the GTA IV was released, because Niko was too "heavy" and slow to move around and cars were too slidey (compared to "responsive" and fun 3D era controls) Somewhat arcade physics and animations still work with GTA V graphics, but what about the next gen R* games? Imagine a GTA character, indistinguishable from the real life pulls an RPG from the pocket and runs stairs like it didn't have steps at all etc, wouldn't it just look sh*t, in contrast to character and map design aimed to resemble an actual real life? You had more freedom with the less advanced 3D era graphics, but also those games had slightly cartoonish style overall, character models, cars, etc. (GTA clones of the era like "Getaway" had much more real life based designs.)

Real life looking GTA sounds amazing, but would you be able to do any of that so called "GTA stuff" in it anymore? I'm really looking forward to Saints Row 5 to see the cartoon/real-life ratio in it and how it works with the graphics of this era.

Even Saints Row 1 and 2 are inconsistent in tone. San Andreas never seemed wacky by design but more because it was on old hardware, so it had a ‘gamey’ feel. Its got over the top aspects like the Jetpack, but they’re dialled in and definitely don’t feel like they exist just for the sake of being silly, like some of the crap in SR, only serve to bring down those games because the first two have some quite nice stories with some heavy emotional beats.

SR3 just seems like it tries too hard to create its own identity of being this wild, stupid over the top alternative to GTA. I don’t mind losing this “fun stuff” you speak of if the game is as focused and consistent as IV. Rather that than a game that’s a bit confused, like GTA V, which is stuck trying to be a bit of SA, and a bit of IV.

GTA 6 should 110% be completely realistic and have no arcade elements what so ever.
