GrudgefromSanAndreas
Ciao a tutti GTAFrutti! Imagine CD Projekt bought Volition. Would they benefit from each other? Would a CDP subsidiary (like CDP RED) co-develop Saints Row games with Volition? Would they be bigger than Rockstar? As you may know, Saints Row 2 was ported to pc by CD projekt. Sure it's regarded as one of the worst ports of all time but CDP has changed and made Witcher 3 and is soon releasing Cyberpunk 2077. So i was wondering if future Saints Row titles would be better if built on top of cp2077 engine. TBH i think engines used for sr1, 2, 3 and 4 were not good enough. Sure ragdoll was kinda cool but to me it didnt look better than gtaiv, also the car handlings were arguably worse than gta3 and character movement in all SR titles is worse than Tanner in Driv3r. CP2077 cars to me seem to handle much better in all those previews and if they did so in a SR game it probably wouldve been more fun and immersive. I was thinking, when developing sr5, 6, 7 etc, Volition could still focus on the wackiness and styles of both gangster sr1/2 and ott sr3/4, while CDP (RED and/or new devteam) can focus on RPG elements and gunplay. They could work together in areas such as side activities and quests, story, world life and ai, grind/respect system, customization, choosing factions, multiplayer etc. Games would have both 1st and 3rd person view. Better humour, better radio stations etc. I think those 2 companies would get along perfectly. What you think?
APB
Hate all you want, but CDPR is overhyped. No matter who they collab with or not, they won't make something that can all of sudden replace the entire GTA franchise or even franchises like The Elder Scrolls for that matter. I find it funny, because as it stands right now people are overhyping the Cyberpunk 2077 to hell, treating it like it is already the greatest game ever made. Crap like that has a potential for backfiring, see the latest games in that list that had it happen (Last Of Us 2, No Man's Sky, do I need to say anymore names?). Credit is due for them though. They made some decent games and one great game (Witcher 3) and managed to act pro-consumer in these times of microtransactions and live service casinos. At some point however they will turn to the dark side as well. it took Bethesda years to fully embrace it, it will be the same for CDPR. When that happens I will be laughing hard at the people who treated them like Gods in the gaming industry. Collaborations between studios can lead to mediocre products or a disaster at best. See something like Fallout 76 or that Mad Max game, all examples of collaborations between multiple studios. While Mad Max was fun, it wasn't super great and Fallout 76... we won't speak of that. Now I don't say that all of the collaborations go to sh*t, but most of them do, at least from the titles that I'm familiar with. While in theory that idea sounds great, in practice it will be hard to accomplish and will most likely end up in a mediocre product. Zello
What reason would they have for buying them out? I don't see any reason at all. THQ Nordic is doing their best now hopefully their next game puts them back on track after the flop that Agents of Mayhem was. If any company were to buy them though I could see Ubisoft or EA attempting to buy them. Ubisoft actually almost bought them way back around 2012 or 2013 when the original THQ went bankrupt. Ubisoft wanted to pay like around $5 million but Deep Silver bid like $20 million and won. Edited May 8, 2020 by Zello Ivan1997GTA

I'm pretty certain there's a misunderstanding here. Saints Row 2 was ported by CD Projekt Localisation Centre (which is listed on the back of my copy of SR2), which later became Porting House. It never had anything to do with CD Projekt RED, except by affiliation with CD Projekt group. When SR2 was being ported by CDPLC, CD Projekt RED had already released The Witcher in 2007, and The Witcher: Enhanced Edition in 2008, the latter especially being a critically acclaimed game. So the idea that CDPR started out as technically inept, but eventually improved, is based upon the confusion of two separate studios. I can't offer any opinions on what's good for Saints Row, but CDPR is good for the AAA industry, and I do wish that CDPR could manage to run two studios, and double the number of great AAA games they create and release in any given time frame. GrudgefromSanAndreas
So why multiple studios collaborating will result in a disaster game? Because of compromise? Because those studios can't find common ideas and agreements? To me that's pretty relative. SCUM was a big success in the early days and it was made by 2 studios that have nothing in common except being from Croatia. To me, chances that a multiple devs/publishers collab will result in a disaster is 50/50, success also 50/50. Or maybe i'm so naive idk what im talking about
