Don't expect anything from single player anymore

Rockstargames will focus heavily in GTA ONLINE.which mean the single player wouldn't get so much attention.so much stuff will get cut or out of it for the online play.

Rockstar: you tell me exactly what you want and i will very carefully explain to you why it cannot be.

Initial sales are too big to ignore SP outright.

They will not ignore it. But will be very limited.

I don't think it will be limited, but I think it will be very similar to the single-player of GTA 5 (but improved of course).

People who are expecting something more or something different will be disappointed.

With the main writers gone, I don't see this as improbable. I'm hoping Houser wrote GTA6 before he left, or is writing it on the side. Who knows. But he was the reason why Rockstar was so good. Story is everything

Single player may end up having a character that will look completely different from others based on their actions through the game.

I heard this before and after the announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2. We will probably keep hearing it beyond the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6!

GTA IV has an amazing, well-written story and awesome dialogue all around!

GTA V has the most stupid story and characters of any game out there!

RDR2 features one of the finest stories ever written!

GTA VI ... let's see, I'm not holding my breath though.

As emmi said above, if they go for the GTA V style.... then the story guna suck ass.

I'm just hoping for atleast a good story. I doubt they will do anything beyond a story for single player anyway.

My opinion for every GTA game story.

GTA 3 - story was ok but not really good

GTA VC- story is amazing

GTA SA - Story is really fun and amazing but it was a bit of a mess

GTA LCS - Good storyline

VCS- good storyline

IV - amazing storyline but mission structure are way too repetitive sometimes so that kinda ruins me.

V - storyline was really fun and really epic IMO. The missions are even more fun than GTA San Andreas. Though I agree that the FIB part was really boring and the heists are for the fib not for the protagonists. The Merryweather heist is pretty pointless IMO. Though the storyline is better than GTA SA and GTA VC. A classic GTA game just like GTA SA.

Stop hoping. The story was written probably back in 2015-2016. Heck this isn't even a rumor, it is probably the truth.

Judging from V and rdr 2 yes online will receive the bulk of the attention from rockstar and take two. Hopefully we just get a longer campaign than we did in V.

Of course no one should expect anything at this point,I'm only eager to see when will they stop releasing updates for their two online dogsh*ts.Only when people stop giving online attention then the real-deal promotion for the new one will find its way to kick in.

GTA V was the first ever GTA game where I felt the need to punch all characters to the face for how annoying they where.

Red Dead 2 was a realistic and grounded game. The result? Online mode failed.

If R* is so concerned about the Online mode then GTA 6 will probably be more of an arcade game (like GTA 5).

RDR 2 feels realistic, it's not realistic, that's a big difference. Moreover story mode and online mode can have their very own rules.

Yes it wants to feel realistic. That's the point. Just like GTA IV tried. But it is something that will limit the possibilites for an Online mode.

That's why R* will invest in a cheesy action packed plot. Most people are a expecting big crime drama with a realistic feeling to it. I don't think it will happen.

And I won't be surprised if the game is set in modern day Vice City, being nothing more than Los Santos 2.0 only improved with next graphics.

R* have never failed to push out an awesome SP mode so I expect another masterpiece.

Same. The entire cast of GTA V is annoying as hell.

CrysisAverted

Imagine a dev focusing on a multiplayer game when refusing dedicated servers, when refusing to upgrade their sh*t cloud system that results in down time on new update releases. That at its most stable, results in players spending most of their time playing waiting in the clouds.

Are Rupert Humphries and Michael Unsworth also gone? Cause they are credited in most titles alongside Dan Houser

I don't know what to expect to be honest.I know most big game developers have been focusing on online multiplayer for around a decade, and GTA Online is still incredibly popular even after almost 7 years, but on the other hand RDR2 came out 5 years after GTA Online and it had an amazing singleplayer.

Hopefully R* will focus on making a good singleplayer like they did with 3D GTA games and GTA 4,or at least focus on both singleplayer and Online equally.Worst case scenario would be if GTA 6 would have no singleplayer at all,but I doubt they would do that because it would risk alienating many of their long time fans who expect singleplayer (I know I wouldn't buy it if it was Online only).

I think the SP will be great at least. But like I said before, it will be something in the lines of GTA V, not RDR2 or GTA IV (like most fans want).

Just a random opinion obviously...

Just don't repeat the same old stuff will already be a blessing lol.I really don't get how serious some people want in a world where the character can take out a freakin rpg from his pants. And if it is really targeting for the real deal one in the future, how can you walk away from the law enforcement literally everytime in a game which the only thing you are good at is getting yourself into the crime world deeper and deeper whether you like it or not?At least in a crime game called Red Dead Redemption a criminal does pay for what he've done in the logical way,and that's it,the big bad guy will get what its coming sooner or later.Either you die or people who stick to you will say goodbye to the earth. And then what?Literally everybody knows this and things like this happens everyday around the world,do I really need to spend minimum 120 hours in a video game to learn the fact again? No matter what some want to say,a gta game focus most of the theme on these parts is really not a gta game anymore. At least not that interesting, not that exciting. There is a game called Mafia works 10 times better in this formula. At this point I'm really not sure what they will come up with next,I just hope I can get something refreshing and still stay true to what the title means.

Just to put it in perspective, the last game they released was the largest single player experience in video gaming.

6 probably won’t be a 100 hour story but I’m certain it’ll be bigger than V, which was big itself.

Getting high score on Metacritic is very important for Rockstar and that can be done only with a quality singleplayer. RDR2 set the bar very high, it would be foolish of them to release a short game. Besides after RDR2 release Rockstar stressed multiple times they love doing singleplayer games and RDR2 is a proof of that. If GTA 6 feels lackluster compared to RDR2, critics will notice it.

I wouldn't be worried about the singleplayer, which will most likely be great. But at the same time I don't expect a story dlc or anything besides online content. GTA6 could very well be the last GTA game, with an online part getting large updates over the years. At the very least I expect the game to last as long if not longer than GTA V.
