Drummer98
Hi guys, I’ve tried to guess what pattern R* could follow for GTAVI based on GTAV and RDR2 marketing campaigns. Sorry for the long comment but I wanted to be as clear as possible. GTAV RDR2 1)Announcement Fall 2011 Fall 2016 2)Debut Trailer 11/02/2011 10/18/2016 3)Lack of news (5 to 8 months) 4)First screenshots Jul-Aug 12 May 2017 5)Second Trailer Fall 2012 Fall 2017 6)Final Delay Jan 2013 Feb 2018 7)Third Trailer Apr 2013 May 2018 8)More details on special editions May 2013 Jun 2018 9)Gameplay Trailer Jul 2013 Aug 2018 10)Gameplay #2 Aug 2013 Oct 2018 11)Launch Trailer Sep 2013 Oct 2018 12)Release 09/17/13 10/26/18 According to what happened for V and RDR2, GTA VI could follow a similar pattern. Let’s say it’s going to be announced this year or at most next year: 1) Announcement in October (2020 or 2021) 2) A teaser trailer can be released in the following days or weeks. 3&4) After that we may have a long period of drought followed by the release of a bunch of screens, along with a first delay announcement. (Spring 2021 or 2022) 5) After that, there’s probably going to be another period of news lacking followed by the release of a second trailer during Fall. (Fall 2021 or 2022) 6) At the beginning of the next year, let’s say 2022 or 2023, they’ll announce a final delay with an actual release date. 7) Usually during Spring news ramp up a bit and a third trailer is shown along with press coverage. 8 After that, special and collector’s editions are shown. 9&10) Gameplay trailers coming in Summer. 11) Launch Trailer coming a week before the release 12) Finally the release. So what I want to say is that even though R* is very unpredictable, in recent years it has advertised these games in the same way and this is, in my opinion, the way they will present GTA VI. What strategy do you guys think R* will use? Edited May 4, 2020 by Drummer98 Dr. Ugs
Dr. Ugs
Very well done. I think this is 100% what will happen. And about the release date, it's going to be a painfull 2 years of wait for consoles and then 1 more year for PC.............................. PS5 and Xbox SX release in 2022 or even 2023 and PC release in 2023/24. Edited May 4, 2020 by Drummer98
FAH-Q
Max Payne 3 was announced March 23, 2009 First trailer was September 14, 2011 Released May 15, 2012 GTA IV was announced May 2006 First trailer March 2007 Released April 29, 2008 Both announcements came in the spring. Goes to show they’re not going to do the same thing with every game. Whole point is to NOT be predictable.

I don't think they care being unpredictable more than meet the financial quarters with gains. Many in the industry of videogames do the same pattern, including Assassins Creed, for example. Announcements in the first quarter of the year and releases on the last quarter of the year. I may be wrong tho, but comming from Rockstar, I believe what @Drummer98 said. Of course, but my point is not when they’ll announce it, (I said October, but it could also be May, June or December) but what pattern they could follow from the announcement to the release and even in the two games you mentioned, maybe except Max Payne 3, we can still see that their marketing campaign are all very similar to one another. GTA IV was announced in 2007 and released after two years. 9 minutes ago, AntonGandonBF3 said: I actually dissagree. Exactly, now that I think of it, R* games are always announced either in Spring or Fall, and they still follow a very precise pattern, excluding the PS2 era games.
